Jet Go On Hiatus, Diddy Inks Vodka Deal, SoCal Wildfires Drive Concertgoers Out of Town

  • In news that will make some folks very happy and others quite sad, Australian rockers Jet are taking a break. In a MySpace blog post, singer Chris Cester reveals that after a long promotional tour for Shine On, the band deserves a rest. But don’t weep and/or pop the champagne just yet: Each bandmember will pursue individual musical endeavors, quadrupling the Jet output.
  • Diddy has inked a deal with Ciroc vodka that will see him attempt to bring some “Pass the Courvoisier”-like success for its distiller. Under the deal, the Bad Boy leader will split Ciroc profits 50/50 with the company, as long as Diddy uses the bottle as a weapon in future nightclub incidents.
  • A group of Chinese songwriters have started a petition calling for the country to boycott what they call “vulgar” pop music that poisons the youth with “weird lyrics and lustful themes.” Perhaps they were inspired by this site.
  • News: The band Simply Red was still together. New News: Simply Red has broken up.
  • The Southern California wildfires aren’t just forcing hundreds of thousands from their homes; they’re also canceling concerts. Among the bands whose shows were called off were Chevelle, Peter Frampton and Earlimart.
