Universal Encourages Winehouse Fans To Get Drunk, Smoke Cigarettes While Watching Amy’s Live DVD

Amy Winehouse reveals in the documentary on her upcoming live DVD I Told You I Was Trouble that she blames her excessive drinking on the fact that she’s, um, insecure. “I’m quite an insecure person. I’m very insecure about the way I look. I mean, I’m a musician I’m not a model. The more insecure I felt, the more I’d drink,” she explains. And the more she drinks, the more money the record label makes, as evidenced by the limited-edition incentive to purchase her new DVD. If you pre-order your copy now, Universal will help perpetuate some of Amy’s vices when they send you an additional “very cool” pint glass and ashtray emblazoned with Winehouse’s logo. Why not throw in a few syringes and a bong while we’re at it? Maybe they can start a whole line of Winehouse drug paraphernalia. Elsewhere on the documentary, Amy talks candidly about her overdose last August, as well as her reluctance to change her dangerous ways: “Life’s short — just do it, do you know what I mean? Life’s short and I’ve made a lot of mistakes, you know.” Perhaps banking on how short Winehouse’s life might actually be, pop artist Gerald Laing has painted a portrait of Amy kissing husband Blake Fielder-Civil, titled simply “The Kiss.” To hedge his bets, Laing also painted Kate Moss for the collection.
