Rock Reality Show Recap: One of K-Fed’s Ex’s is a Winner, As Shar Jackson Tops “Celebrity Rap Superstar”

Every week on Celebrity Rap Superstar, an odd mixture of C-list stars test their skills (or lack thereof) on the mic, while Rock Daily’s Rock Reality Show Recaps of the series test our skills at analyzing some really awful hip-hop. Here’s our eighth (and final) report:

Sixty Minutes in Five Sentences: The finale of Celebrity Rap Superstar revealed the victor, and gave even the Hip-Hop Honors a run for its money in number of performances and collaborations (okay, not really). Rivals Shar Jackson and Kendra Wilkinson gave a high-pitched and estrogen-tweaked performance of Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock’s “It Takes Two” before all six rap rejects returned. Jason Wahler kept it real (”I definitely deserved to get kicked off”) while Sebastian Bach kept it rock (”I just feel like I’m the best and it’s your loss”). The “bad boys” of CRS performed “Shake Your Tail Feather” while the ladies honored Salt-N-Pepa’s recent reunion with the classic “Whatta Man,” with Countess Vaughn back in full effect. Naughty By Nature ended the season with a contestant-assisted performance of the show’s theme song “Hip-Hop Hooray.”

8-Mile Moment: The finale gave up an all-star treat when all eight of the rap superstar mentors (including Redman, Kurupt and MC Lyte) stormed the stage with matching Adidas track suits like BET Tenenbaums to perform the rap disco vintage hit by Sugarhill Gang, “Rapper Delight.” Complete with breakdancers and much “hip-hip hops” and “bang bang boogies” the multi-era army of MCs gave one final lesson from teachers to students in the art of presenting the rhyme.

Hip-Hop Hilarity: During the boys performance, a stringy-haired Efron Ramirez stumbled through the words looking like an extra from Blow, while Wahler looked like he was searching for a teleprompter or a compass and NFL star Jamal Anderson actually brought some A-game (looking for a new career, Jamal?). The “girls” included media queen Perez Hilton, who exhibited some shady math in his defense of his team assignment: “There are eight people on the show: five guys and three and a half girls. I can go both ways.”

The Final Verse: Hell finally stopped a few degrees short of freezing over when Shar Jackson won the Golden Mic of Celebrity Rap Superstar, and probably a future record deal, edging the inexplicable number-two contestant Kendra Wilkinson out of the running. For her celebration performance, Shar broke off a piece of Kanye’s “The Good Life” with the appropriate lyric “I’m a get on TV Mama, I’m a put it down.” Then, turning the show’s theme song “Hip-Hop Hooray” from a commercial cue back into the classic it is, Naughty by Nature hit the stage with all the former contestants. And the finale victor, whose original “Let it Blow” from last week’s episode is “going places” according to judge DMC, told the camera, “America get ready cause I think I want to do this.” Even if MTV’s rap talent experiment might be over after just one season, the judges seem to think it produced a true superstar.

While Shar might not have what hip hop legends are made of, she held her own and looked kinda hip and stylish doing it.
