
- Madonna gave the record industry a kick in the pants by ditching the label system altogether and signing a megamillion-dollar deal with Live Nation.
- A few members of the Arcade Fire found their way onto Bruce Springsteen’s stage to perform “State Trooper.” Springsteen made his way onto the cover of Rolling Stone, which made us want to revisit his entire catalog (and see him wow Bono and Tony Soprano in NYC).
- Weezer leader Rivers Cuomo blogged about releasing some solo work, then told Rolling Stone all about it (including his Ice Cube cover), plus gave us a Weezer LP progress report.
- Nas ruffled some feathers by naming his next LP Nigga. Then he really pissed everyone off by calling out Jesse Jackson and the NAACP and retitling it Nigger.
- Radiohead kept us talking about In Rainbows: now the discussion is focusing on why more people downloaded an ostensibly free album illegally?
