Jimmy Page Doesn’t Rule Out New Led Zeppelin Music, Tour

10/17/07, 11:35 am EST

Even though their highly anticipated, Web site-crashing reunion concert is still one month and nine days away (we’re counting), Jimmy Page is already considering what the future might hold for the reformed Led Zeppelin. Is new music in the forecast? “Look, I’d be really surprised if there wasn’t – you know, I mean I just know the way we are,” Page said, “we’re musicians…as we’re playing we’ll probably be coming up with all manner of things.” This would appear to run counter to Robert Plant’s dismissal last month of the idea of an all-out Zeppelin tour, but Page is hedging his bets: “Basically we are concentrating on this show. That’s where all the energy is going. I mean, who knows? But one step at a time.”

I love Zep but they need to make up their minds to tour or not. I don’t need a new album from them. just play your last show and say goodnight or tour one last time and go home. I love you guys but this back and forth, Yes and No has been going on for 27 years now.
MAKE YOUR MINDS UP OR SHUT UP!!!

Dr. Ralph | 10/17/2007, 6:32 pm EST

What the fuck??? First Eddie and Dave and now Page and Plant. True signs that the apocalypse is imminent.

Dave | 10/18/2007, 8:13 am EST

Just do it, but do it with some new material.

Jeremy | 10/18/2007, 8:33 am EST

Please don’t.

Jimmy is quite distinguished looking. Maybe this is a sign that he has at last cleaned up his act and is finally ready to put out some new material.

I asked a representative from a Jukebox company why there was no Led Zeppelin in any Jukebox I had ever seen. And he told me that it was because Michael Jackson owned the right to their music. As with the Beatles catalog. Can anyone else confirm this? He did say that in the next year Zeppelin would be found on many Jukeboxes because the legal battle would be over.

BBC | 10/18/2007, 12:39 pm EST

Nate, as heavy handed as Peter Rudge and the Zeps were about royalties and concert grosses, I find the jukebox rep’s claim more than a little suspect.
Most likely has more to do with the royalty rates than anything else.

Markenstein | 10/18/2007, 2:04 pm EST

I hope Plant’s voice is up to it for the show. Maybe that’s why he isn’t committing to more than one show, because his voice won’t make it through more than one.

Rockstar70 | 10/18/2007, 4:02 pm EST

I can assure you Zep owns all their songs. Jimmy Page made more than 12 million in royalties in 2004(as reported by ROLLINGSTONE).

I dont think so.I wanted to buy the dvd of live aid and they are not on the disk or even mention being there. They were so out of ture in the proformance I can see why they wont release it although I have it recorded on cassete tape with all the helocopter in the background.

RenoDavid | 10/18/2007, 7:06 pm EST

New music? My bother? The Stones put out a great album and it was widely ignored by their “fans.” The new songs were used as an excuse to hit the beer line. Let’s face it, if the song isn’t 20 years old, most “classic rock” fans could care less. Their ears are already dead.

Scott Blugrind | 10/19/2007, 12:32 am EST

New Zep. Oh Yes!!!!
What ever they release, I will buy.
When and if they play in the USA, I am there.
I prayed for the Police and Van Halen to reunite.
Zep would be mind blowing. I have seen Page, The Firm, Robert, & Page/ Plant.
It is about time John Paul Jones is back in the mix. They did remeber his phone number!
Jason sounds better than ever too.

Who’s next?
Pink Floyd? Maybe $$$$$
CCR? Never
Guns & Roses? Yes Please
Journey with Steve Perry? I hope so.
No Doubt? Yes

I am a die-hard Zep fan. The Stones seem to have a culture surrounding the band beyond the music, but for me Zeppelin doesn’t exist without the music. The reason I say that is in reply to what someone said about the songs from the Stones new album a reason to hit the beer line. All of Zep’s solo projects were just that, solo projects, but the core of their writing is coming back together and as long as they don’t have any African instruments and/or a Peter Gabriel style back up group they will ROCK!!
