Donny Osmond Reveals He Almost Had Fake Drug Habit

10/16/07, 4:11 pm EST

We love publicists. They keep us stocked with CDs and information about their artists. But once in a while, a publicist oversteps their boundaries. Case in point: By the time the Osmond family started to go downhill in a fashion echoed by the Brady Bunch after they introduced that seventh kid Cousin Oliver, Donny Osmond was sick of being a teenybopper, so his publicist tried to think of ways to scuff up his nice-boy image. As Osmond tells the U.K.’s Times Online, “My publicist even put together a campaign to get me busted for drugs to dirty up my image. I almost went for it.” Donny Osmond on drugs? While only a Kevin Spacey-in-Se7en-esque killing spree would truly darken Osmond’s reputation (look at that sweetheart with a keytar up there!), this admission does reveal the sordid measures some publicists attempt in hopes of promoting their famous clientele. Maybe Amy Winehouse is actually a nun. The world may never know …

Feline: sure, you want these people to devour each other, and you wanted me to disappear!!! sounds to me that you’re the expert at making enemies, not these people!!!

Leave it to Donny Osmond, who almost had a fake music career to have an almost fake drug habit.

Very Rock And Roll he was. very VH1!

I’ve long suspected that most of these celebrities caught with drugs or some other minor crime, then the drama of their subsequent rehab/repentance are 100% set-up by publicists.
