Britney Spears Booked on Hit and Run, Live Earth Coming to CD/DVD, U2 Win Bid to Build Ireland’s Tallest Tower

10/16/07, 9:29 am EST

  • Britney Spears was booked by the LAPD last night on two misdemeanor charges stemming from her August hit-and-run accident in which she drove into a parked car and fled the scene. US Magazine reports Spears did not have to post bail, was released of her own recognizance and is due back in court on October 25th.
  • Warner Bros. will release Live Earth — The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis as a CD and DVD on November 20th featuring highlights from the worldwide July 7th concerts. A digital version of the album will be available November 6th, and all proceeds will benefit the Alliance for Climate Protection. Full tracklistings after the jump.
  • U2, along with their management and the rest of the Geranger Ltd. consortium, have won a bid to build the tallest building in Ireland. The 600-foot luxury-apartment complex is set for completion in 2011, and will also house U2’s new recording studio, an egg-shaped space at the top of the tower.
  • Dame Dash and Kareem “Biggs” Burke have posted Beyond the Reasonable Doubt, a collection of Jay-Z remakes by the likes of Kanye West, Beanie Sigel and Juelz Santana, on their social-networking site BlockSavvy.com. The record took shape a few years ago, when the duo wanted to pay tribute to Jay-Z after his Reasonable Doubt celebrated its tenth anniversary last year.
  • Jerry Hall has reportedly signed a $2.2 million book deal to pen the memoirs of her former marriage to Mick Jagger. No release date for the book has been set.

So if U2 has their own recording studio, does that they’ll start making albums more than once every 5 years? Or will they be like the Beatles, build a recording studio and never use it?

Oh Beer | 10/16/2007, 4:51 pm EST

Are my eyes failing me? I don’t seem to see Kanye on these track lists…could it be true? could he really have been cut out? Oh What a glorious day!!! Let us all do little happy dances all over his big fat ego!!

I love Britney spears, she is so talented, her kids are adorible, and I know she will over come her possible jail time, and I know her album will be number 1

She’s scratchin’ and clawin’, fightin’ like mad and hangin on!!!!!! Good for you, Brit!!! You’re ready to dump the dance steps and become a rock and roller.

You’re voice maybe not be good enough for bubble gum R and B, but you’re smoking ciagarettes like a madwoman. Soon you’re voice will be wounded enough for rock and roll. If fuckin’ Alanis Morisette can do it, you sure as hell can. You’re ready. You’ve got a lot more demons than that Mock Rock fraud!!!!!!! Peace out, you hardass motherfucker!!!!!!! Like the wig, very Pat Benetar.

BTW, I LIKE the album cover. It’s just like the Jackson 5 covers from the 1970s. It’s not van gogh; it’s pop gear.

chili_addict | 10/17/2007, 1:56 am EST

WHERE THE HELL ARE THE CHILI PEPPERS!!!!!
i know it wasn’t their best performance but it was a hell of alot better than other bands!!! they were undoubtedly one of the biggest acts on show IF NOT THE BIGGEST ACT the only reason they didnt headline or put on their best show was because they did a full stadium show the night before in paris and were expected to headline the HUGE roskilde festival in denmark that VERY NIGHT!!!
i hope it was some contractual thing not RHCP being dissapointed with themselves or anything

Killer Kitty Kat | 10/17/2007, 3:40 pm EST

chili pepers? you look lost.

oz | 10/17/2007, 4:04 pm EST

you all look severely lost.

Killer Kitty Kat | 10/17/2007, 4:14 pm EST

and you?

narnia | 10/17/2007, 5:58 pm EST

oh, and sorry to break the shocking news to you lost souls, but britney will never be alanis.

Xtine 16 ( hot blooded redhead | 10/17/2007, 8:28 pm EST

why not? Alanis made the same crappy pop garbage in Canada (even though she tries to hide it). Besides, how great of a voice do you need?
Debbie Harry never particulary had a great voice. Didn’t Alanis Morisette make like three American CDs, and one of them was the same record twice????
And Glen Ballard basicallly made the record himself. brit knows how to be a good studio soldier. she needs a good producer and she’ll be fine( Jimmy Iovine???). BTW, what’s Glenn Ballard doing since he’s not making records with Morisette anymore??? Alanis was a bunch overhyped pop! Give me a break!!!!!!!

supersonic | 10/17/2007, 10:23 pm EST

in all honesty, i don’t give a shit!

wasp | 10/18/2007, 12:49 am EST

most guys who have cheated prefer britney to alanis. tough sh&t for them.

the main difference is that alanis is a songwriter and real artist. britney is a marketing package, whereas alanis rocks and bluntly tells it like it is.

Chest Rockwell The Houdini Cat | 10/18/2007, 1:31 am EST

And don’t blame Britney, nor me, because Alanis Morrisette has as much sex appeal as a styrofoam cup.

Meridian logic | 10/18/2007, 2:17 pm EST

The Britney Spears brand has been using non-traditional advertising methods to reach its predominently (female)”adolescent” target audience. Her audience includes children as young as 5 years of age.

Alanis Morissette, by contrast, appeals to mature “adult” audiences, who relate to and comprehend her lyrics and music.

SheSells | 10/19/2007, 3:16 am EST

Further psychological studies show that well-written songs are so powerful and effective in their message delivery, that certain music listeners believe that the song lyrics are about them.

Jeerio.

But Officer, I'M INNOCENT!!! | 10/20/2007, 2:16 am EST

“the main difference is that alanis is a songwriter and real artist. britney is a marketing package, whereas alanis rocks and bluntly tells it like it is”

Well, I’ve got one hand in my pocket, and the other one is gripping a pistol that’s pressed against my left temple . . . BANG!
