Rock Reality Show Recap: Sebastian Bach Slings His Final Rhyme on “Celebrity Rap Superstar”

10/12/07, 9:50 am EST

Every week on Celebrity Rap Superstar, an odd mixture of C-list stars test their skills (or lack thereof) on the mic, while Rock Daily’s Rock Reality Show Recaps of the series test our skills at analyzing some really awful hip-hop. Here’s our seventh report:

Sixty Minutes in Four Sentences: After Sebastian Bach left the stage and the competition with the lowest amount of votes, Shar Jackson and K-Dubs (that’s Playboy bunny Kendra Wilkinson) squared off in a triple-threat of categories: Hip-Hop Anthem, Hip-Hop Classic (chosen by viewers) and Original Song. For the first two Shar performed “Get Ur Freak On” and “Bust a Move” while Kendra brought back the now familiar stripper karaoke performing “Hot in Herre” in a non-shirt and the voter-chosen (American knows no subtlety) “Baby Got Back.” For the original tracks, the contestants enlisted the help of producer Mr. Collipark (who has worked with Ying Yang Twins and Soulja Boy) for beats. In “Epiphany,” a title she had trouble pronouncing, Kendra came clean about a life of drugs and how she found salvation in her present mansion (”When the sky turns gray/It’s okay”) while Jackson wrote a bouncy party anthem titled “Let it Blow.”

8-Mile Moment: Shar mopped the floor once again with all three of her performances. For the “Hip-Hop Classic” category, America gave her the unfortunate choice of Young MC’s “Bust a Move.” But Shar managed to melt the stigma of the song while enticing DMC to call her “the best part of the whole evening” and even labeled her not really a contestant. She also flowed through her Missy Elliott’s track and with the assistance of Mr. Collipark spat an original party jam containing not the first Britney reference of the season: “They should have had me up in there at the VMAs.”

Hip-Hop Hilarity: Sebastian gave as much badditude while exiting the stage as he did performing on it. Forever handicapping Skid Row record sales in Red-state America, his first response to defeat at the polls was, “I just want to say: America — you suck!” He then went to plug his new album, Angel Down, which comes out in November and features Axl Rose, and did an impromptu rendition of “Black Betty” with DMC. Bach also said a few touching words about his mentor Kurupt, a now best friend who always has his “Bach.” But Bach could never say his goodbyes to his old genre, and the most telling behind the scenes Bachism was this: “When someone tells me I’m rocking too hard, inside I’m going ‘Fucking right I’m rocking too hard.’ ”

The Final Verse: The two remaining female MCs finished their threesomes with the judges clearly favoring the in-house teacher’s pet, Shar Jackson. But as you can see by the disparity of skill left in the final two contestants, this competition is a true democracy, not a meritocracy, and next week’s victor is anyone’s guess. The ousted Bach unleashed the head bang in one final rock rap (a song so perfect for him it’s a wonder it didn’t surface earlier in the competition) “Fight for Your Right to Party” by the Beastie Boys. Next week we’ll find out who is the final Celebrity Rap Superstar in a reunion episode with guests Naughty by Nature and the return of all the former contestants including the one and only Bahler Wahler. We knew something was missing.

I still think Sebastian won this HANDS DOWN. It’s a shame that America would rather see T&A than pure talent. Sebastian never messed up on his songs…Shar did. So….what’s up America…don’t you like talented musicians anymore?

Ian St.Ian | 10/12/2007, 3:35 pm EST

Ha, fuck you and your “talented musician”. Since when do talented American musicians appear on shit-puking shows like this? Most musicians I listen to record albums and go on tour (the rest of them are dead). These shows suck, and if this is the future entertainment of America, I’m moving to Paris, where only the people stink like shit.

Are freaking kidding me? Great…more “quality” programing to trash the whiteman’s connection to hip hop.

Wasn’t 8 mile long enough of a walk down that road? Didn’t the White Rapper show give you your “white boy rapper” comedic fix? now this shit?

Let’s get some REAL hip hop shows that showcases white rappers with REAL talent…I’m getting sick of this bullshit.

Kendra making it (potentially to #1) shows what america really is made of… the same type of people who voted for george bush. You wanted it, you got it mofos!

At least with Kendra the rest of the world can laugh at that spectacle. She should release a CD and all the idiots that voted for her should be forced to buy it.

Shar Jackson, Is truly a sensational performer and We were all cheering for her. But Shar, why did you have to go and kick Britney while she is down. Maybe you should be reminded who pays for your childrens schooling, Kevin,,I DONT THINK SO. Now i want Kendra to win. I love kendra but i was cheering for the one who rapped best and Shar was that one. But Kendra has heart, and didnt have to diss anyone to get her message out. WE LOVE U KENDRA

Kendra, I have watched you on The girls next door, and my eight year old niece loves you so much that I tape most of your shows for her to watch. Kendra, I have a daughter your age and we both watch your show. We LOVE u..But the song you wrote showed a Kendra, that surprised a lot of people. Your a little girl with a BIG HEART and I hope Hef knows what a sweetgirl you are. I have seen you change so much for the better in your social skills as well as public speaking. Shar should win because she is the best rapper. BUT you have heart and soul girl, and you dont have to diss anyone to get your point out. Thank you for being you. good luck we hope you win XOXOXOX this is from Bethany my 8yr old nice.. Cant wait till next wk

I am obsessed with this show. My girls and i watch it in our dorm every week. It’s so cool to see these celebs start out bad and actually learn how to rap and get good. I can’t wait for season 2…i’d love to see britney spears do the show:) she would KILL it!!!

Trish | 10/14/2007, 3:14 am EST

My friends are pulling for Shar she has the most talent–we it comes to rapping. I don’t think Shar meant anything about her little quirp about Britney. In the world of rap, it’s a common thing to diss someone through lyrics–its part of the rap game.

I like Kendra she seems like a sweetheart but, let’s be honest she can’t rap! I did like her original rap song it was quite touching–her best performance to date.

We were hoping to see Bach & Shar J. competing against each other in the finale but, America is very superficial and votes on looks (with Kendra) instead of talent. So Bach didn’t stand a chance even though he’s talented and can rap.

We’ve enjoyed this season we thought the show was going to be a joke but, we were presently surprised. I hope to see the next season of celebrity rappers.

Sebastian should have had it if it was based on talent, apparently it isn’t about talent. I loved his ending song he did though! He burnt that stage down! ;)

Pim | 10/15/2007, 6:49 pm EST

Hang on, we don’t have this “show” yet. A Playboy hunny going for rap? From the picture it looks like she still needs the looks to persuade multimedia focusd USA…
Dissin’ Britney? Dissing MTV! to choose her to perform. If you feel so much for Britney why don’t you go out and help that girl, that’s what she needs, not celeb gossip…
