- Coldplay have reached the mixing stage of their new record, BBC 6 Music reports. Sources say Chris Martin was recently mixing a track off the Brian Eno-produced follow-up to X&Y with producer Jon Hopkins.
- Beyoncé and Samsung have teamed up for a gold-and-burgundy limited-edition B’phone, which also features a Beyoncé start-up screen and offers Beyoncé photos, videos and a song she recorded as a child for customers to download.
- Jermaine Dupri tells MTV News that Janet Jackson’s next album is 45 percent done, and includes a song from “Umbrella” writer the Dream and a duet with Maroon 5. But Dupri says one thing is off the record — a duet with Mariah Carey. “[The collaboration] is gonna surface one day. Something is gonna come up, and we gonna say, ‘This is it,’ ” he explains.
- Lil Wayne’s lawyer said his client wouldn’t have missed a court date that led to his arrest last weekend if the summons had been sent to the rapper’s current address, and not the older residence the court had on file.
