“For What It’s Worth,” No Nukes Reunite After Thirty Years

10/12/07, 1:11 pm EST

After almost three decades of near inactivity in the atomic sector, a bill has been sent to the U.S. government to loan $50 billion dollars to the nuclear power industry to kick-start stalled plant plans. In a protest against the proposed loan, members of the famed “No Nukes” group, namely Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt and Graham Nash, have filmed a YouTube video (above) for the Buffalo Springfield song “For What It’s Worth.” The “No Nukes” group — which once featured Magic man Bruce Springsteen and performed a series of concerts including a famous one at New York’s Madison Square Garden in 1979 — now boasts appearances by Ben Harper and Keb’ Mo’.

Since the late-Seventies, and the Three Mile Island incident, the nuke industry has been dormant, but in the wake of global warming and An Inconvenient Truth, the government has been seeking alternative power sources to greenhouse-gas-chewing fossil fuel plants. But Nash claims, “The nuclear power industry is raising its head once more under the guise that it can help global warming. It’s a lot more complex than that. Nothing is ever easy about nuclear power.” Raitt also insists that nuclear plants provide an easy bulls-eye for terrorists when planning a target. Nuclear Energy Institute spokesperson Mitchell Singer, who ironically enough owns and enjoys the No Nukes album, counters that “the upside of nuclear power is so big and so positive that we can deal with these issues.”

We can meet our needs with clean energy. We can live in a way that is less harmful and contributes to gross domestic happiness.

Please allow yourself to care, I know it hurts, but in the long run it will lead you to the source of true happiness.

What a bunch of stupid sheep out there. 90% of the population doesn’t give a fuck until they can feel it hurting their lifestyle. So can’t be bothered with even having an opinion or appreciating anyone who does. Another 9% don’t care enough to bother with developing an truly informed opinion so form their opinions under the influence of irrelevant issues and a warped and totally selfish values system. Mean while the 1% remaining run the country and the world in order to feed their own selfish desires and with total disregard for those ignorant people beneath them. Democracy is the biggest lie that the mases every swallowed.

It is really something great to see those who have arrived giving their time and energy to help make the world a better place and fight against the greed and selfishness of those with massive power.

Solar and wind will never….ever meet our energy needs. a 4′x6′ solar panel produces about 60watts in the middle of the summer in the middle of the day with no clouds in the sky and significantly less with any of those variable adjusted.

60 watts is a typical light bulb. How many do you think it would take to lift an elevator?

We need Nuclear now… 30 years have wasted. France gets 72% from Nuclear and is thus not as dependent on anyone else.
