Kid Rock’s “Rock N Roll Jesus” Descends on Small New York Club

10/10/07, 6:01 pm EST

“It’s been a while since we’ve played a small club like this,” said Kid Rock last night backstage at New York’s Fillmore, the very intimate venue where he celebrated the release of Rock N Roll Jesus, “I’m glad it worked out.” Work out it did, thanks to Rock’s arsenal of rap, rock and country: The highlights included a torrid version of the new album’s title track, and “Half Your Age,” a charmingly spiteful track aimed at Rock’s ex, Pam Anderson (the closing line is about how his new girlfriend is “half your age and twice as hot”). He introduced “Age” by mentioning Anderson’s frequent appearances in certain celebrity magazines: “US Weekly is entertaining, but I have a feeling this song is gonna stick around for a lot longer than a week.”

I’m a grandmother and I’ve been to two of his concerts, and I’m waiting for him to come to Houston again.
He does put on a great show. And, he can truly make you feel good.

Well, let me tell you something. I haven’t been lucky enough to have ever been a groupie of his, but I have seen him in concert every year for the past 8 years. I’m going again October 16th, in Nashville & I’m sure I will continue. He rocks my world with every song. He is very talented! I love his new album! I will continue to support him as long as I around. NO ONE puts on a concert like he does. He is one of the few people out there, that can actually perform on stage like he does on his albums…IF NOT BETTER!!!!!

OK, I listened to rock and roll jesus today, I declare that rolling stone stars are for sale. In one song, Kid Rock rips off sweet home alabama, and it sounds like a wedding band version. I love southern rock, and you my friend Kid Rock, are not southern rock. I mean, leave Lynyrd Skynyrd the fuck alone already, if we want a bad revival of Lynyrd Skynyrd, we could all go to a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert now. Kid Rock must be a fun friend to have for the journalists of this magazine, I totally get it. This magazine loses cred with me every day.

Kid rock rocks my socks. He definitely has his own style (most of his songs) and it will either appeal to you or not. Give him a chance and don’t say he sucks

My beef is not really with Kid Rock, it is with Rolling Stone. The magazine, and I am a subscriber, will trash and/or ignore some albums based on form or influences (for example, the brilliant kid behind Beirut, Green Day’s American Idiot, etc.) while pumping up the latest Kid Rock album with a shit load of stars and ink — treating it like a rock and roll masterpiece. In my humble opinion, his style is a lot like Puff Daddy’s, taking recognizable stuff and repackaging it. I don’t knock it, but I think the RS attention blocks out the sun for other more deserving bands. The reviews are so random in RS, sorry to make an example of you Kid Rock, please invite me to your backstage party!

I think Kid Rock’s new album is great. He has really made a classic rock album with alot more soul. I think this album will be a hit and i don’t know why i haven’t heard more about it. I think that anybody will like this album if you didn’t like kid rock before I bet this album will change your mind.

I am a KID ROCK fan, have been for long time. I am going to Charleston SC to see him in Feb. I am so excited I hear he puts on a hell of a show. Just like everything else, if you do not like him…..DO NOT LISTEN TO HIM. AND if you can not deal with his honesty, telling life like life really is, then DO NOT LISTEN to him! It is that simple! ROCK ON KID ROCK!!
