Led Zeppelin Fans Freaked About Ticket Rules, Lil Wayne Arrested in Idaho, John Mellencamp Defends Jena 6 Song

10/8/07, 10:11 am EST

  • Some Led Zeppelin fans who won the ticket lottery for the November 26th reunion show are complaining that anti-scalping measures are preventing them from getting their tickets. Because personal information of the lottery winner must match the credit card info used to buy tix, fans without credit cards (and people who used their mom’s card) are in trouble. Promoter Harvey Goldsmith says his company will examine complaints on a case-by-case basis.
  • John Mellencamp’s “Jena 6″ support song “Jena” has drawn the ire of Jena Mayor Murphy R. McMillin, who calls the song and its accompanying video “so inflammatory, so defamatory, that a line has been crossed.” The Mellencamp camp says the song “is not written as an indictment of the people of Jena but, rather, as a condemnation of racism.”
  • If there was ever a reason to attend a ballet, this might be it: Brian Wilson will sing the Beach Boys‘ “God Only Knows” during a performance by the English National Ballet on November 11th in London to help raise money for the dance group.
  • The entire concert ticket industry might be changing, thanks to a fourteen-year-old girl. Following a series of Hannah Montana ticket scandals, many state governments are now suing secondary ticket sites (like StubHub and TicketsNow) for jacking up prices. Ticketmaster is also suing a Pittsburgh-based software company called RMG Technologies, which brokers use to scoop up tickets with thousands of requests before the general public can even click “Find Tickets.”

Instead of making dumb remarks about Plant’s looks, pick up on his new album with Allison Krause. It’s fantastic, actually.

Robert Plant looks like a homeless Eddie Van Halen in this picture.

Why cannot rockers mature, grow up and quit when they should?

I seel tickets at a Ticketmaster hub and I get no greater joy than telling someone a show is sold-out. Especially when the show sells out in a matter of 5 minutes, like the Hannah Montana shows did. Too bad bitchy soccer moms that I had to deal with that one Saturday morning, your kid’s life and birthday will have to be ruined forever because you couldn’t get tickets and wouldn’t buy them from a scalper. Don’t cry like a four year-old in my store ever again.

RMG Technologies should be charged with a crime if they are actually selling a software that lets brokers get tickets before they go on sale (of course I don’t know this to be factual at this point)
