The Phil Spector Trial: End Of Act One/Intermission

9/27/07, 8:30 am EST

WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY?
Phil Spector avoided a lengthy jail sentence … for now. By the final score of 10-2, guilty votes almost convicted Spector for the murder of Lana Clarkson, but thankfully for Phil, a unanimous decision could not be reached, so we’re back to square one. Three of the twelve jurors spoke to the media following the mistrial, including the jury foreman, who only made a brief statement to explain what went down during the twelve-day deliberations. All three men said they think Spector is guilty, and noted the two non-guilty votes stemmed from jurors who felt there wasn’t enough reasonable doubt to prove that Lana Clarkson didn’t commit suicide that night in Spector’s mansion. An in-depth psychological report on Clarkson would have helped sway the two renegade jury members, said their fellow juror.

The same juror lambasted Team Spector for putting on a “fake” defense that created scientific theories, paid for high-priced witnesses, and even employed the forensic scientist husband of one of its lawyers. He also criticized the defense for character-assassinating Lana Clarkson. In fact, the juror was pretty unable to mask his disappointment that two of his peers allowed Spector to slip away. As for the prosecution, strip away all female witnesses that claimed Spector pointed a gun at them and the missing evidence, and it’s still evident that Spector was the murderer, the juror remarked. Both jurors, however, said that if the charge was manslaughter, and not second degree murder, that Spector might be wearing an orange jumpsuit in San Quentin by now. Manslaughter is the key word as the prosecution seeks to rebound from this mistrial.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Judge Fidler will meet with the prosecution and defense sometime next week to discuss how the State of California will proceed. District Attorney spokeswoman Sandy Gibbons made it abundantly clear that Spector will face a retrial “immediately.” For the time being, both sides will likely cue up their TiVos, study the hours and hours of Court TV trial footage, and figure out what they need to do to win. So while Spector might have been donning his party wig last night as he celebrated in his faux-mansion, he better make sure all his flamboyant suits are pressed and cleaned, as the curtain will rise on Act Two of this trial in the near future.

Whatever the music order or however you collected his music, you obviously listened to it. Curious that you aren’t a fan but know so much about his music. Are you one of his jilted girlfriends or unrequited lover? So sad!. ”

Jeez, talk about “reading into things”.I’m a fan of music he was “involved with”. I like Ronnie Spector and enjoy reading various biographies.Hence my knowing about Spector’s life etc.
I’m not an ex girlfriend {sic}.
I wouldn’t date that creep if he were the last man alive.Really have to be either a golddigger or suffer serious emotional problems to be involved with an abusive person like him.

Billy | 10/26/2007, 4:17 pm EST

“Like I said, he has a party this weekend and he is looking forward to seeing his family, friends and supporters”

So which friend are you? The drummer who never made it that feels validated “hanging” around Spector?
Or some old bag that knew him yrs ago…

Or perhaps your one of his usedup wife’s friends who’s on the lookout for another old guy that’s got a few bucks and will drop soon?

Out side of 1 child {out of 6 I beleive} none of the kids want anything to do with him.

Or one of the “few” that’s still alive that played a session with him in 1921.lol

Resolve: No one really knows who Spector is anymore except for being tried for MURDER.
Even with that, most DON’T CARE {sadly} that he’ll buy his way out of it.

Billy | 10/26/2007, 4:05 pm EST

“Oh well. He will continue enjoying his life, his new wife and the “Castle”. Like I said, he has a party this weekend and he is looking forward to seeing his family, friends and supporters. Try not to let your hostility eat you up! ”

It took you this long to come up with this “strategy”. lol
Keep posting how great Phil is doing in hope of making everyone who wishes he gets committed angry.
Ain’t happening,Seems when you have to “overstate” how well he’s doing it’s the opposite.
He looks like hell,he’s almost 70 yrs old with health issues.lol

He’s currently getting ready for a second murder trial.lol
He either way will be drained of more money.

His “castle” is a “faux” castle in the shitty part of town.Alahambra isn’t exactly Malibu.

Oh! and add to the list of his “other contributions KILLING LANA CLARKSON.

Do boast Spector loves people talking about him,Is he really that “sick” that he enjoys {guilty or not} being associated with a murder/suicide?

Wait,he is that “sick” he referred to Lana as a piece of shit to the police. What a wonderful, compassionate thing to say after what he claims is a suicide.Phil, I hope you get what’s coming to you.

Jenn | 10/26/2007, 3:54 pm EST

“justright | 10/26/2007, 1:22 pm EST

It seems that some of you are not aware of his music contributions”

Hey just stupid, I own his boxset.I’ve read all about the pycho killer yrs ago.You can post ever song he’s been involved with.{also took a co- write when he contributed nothing too.}It doesn’t matter, outside of two songs or so {if that} your average person NEVER hears this old shit on the radio or wants to. etc.

Spector is now “best” remembered for the MURDER of Lana Clarkson.

Spector tried working with newer artists,he GOT FIRED!.
They don’t want,need him.

Oh how I wish I could be a fly on the wall at one of his “swingin” parties. Of course I’d be wearing a Kevlar vest.So is there bowls of Viagara, and differnt wigs people can wear to emulate the twit?
Does he sit at the piano while his skank wife attempts too sing a tune?
Does he tell the SAME corny jokes he’s been telling for the last 35 yrs?
Have fun, don’t get “accidently” shot.lol

justright | 10/26/2007, 1:22 pm EST

It is nice to hear your thoughts. Keep them coming. It isn’t a problem getting attorneys, several have been signed up. Now we just sit back and wait. It isn’t that were concerned about the next verdict, it will be the same result. But, it is a nusiance. Oh well. He will continue enjoying his life, his new wife and the “Castle”. Like I said, he has a party this weekend and he is looking forward to seeing his family, friends and supporters. Try not to let your hostility eat you up!

Billy | 10/26/2007, 11:21 am EST

” He really appreciates all your comments. Even if they are not nice, at least he knows you care enough to think of him!It is really quiet now on the trial front, but his new team of lawyers is reviewing all the material from the first trial”

You really are a souece of constant entertainment! lol
There’s like 2 people {one of them you} on this forum that supports Spector.”Nice Comments” ???
What “nice” comments…
He’s got people from various prisions who want him to get convicted so he can be their bitch. He’s got numerous woman who think he’s a disgusting troll that should have his nuts cut off.
And it goes on and on.
His new “team” of lawyers?
Ya sure about that Jimmy Kimmell just did a bit about him the other night not being able to get a decent lawyer! You’re such a,a Justretard!
P.S.- Of course Phil is happy people are thinking of him,I mean it’s the most publicity he’s gotten in 25 yrs.lol

Too bad he had to KILL LANA CLARKSON to get noticed.

Nobody wants his shitty over muddy production values in this day and age.
Go crank “Be My Baby”
on your old gramophone one more time.

justright | 10/26/2007, 9:34 am EST

Hi all! Another beautiful day. All is well with Phil. He really appreciates all your comments. Even if they are not nice, at least he knows you care enough to think of him!It is really quiet now on the trial front, but his new team of lawyers is reviewing all the material from the first trial and think it will aid in pointing out the weaknesses in the prosecution case next time. He is having a party this weekend and it looks like it will be fun. All of you have a great weekend and keep the comments coming.

“Watersports” Do you have an anger issue? Mom didn’t hug you? Just into weird stuff like playing in your piss? Your life is really bad isn’t it? Do you NOT UNDERSTAND HE WAS NEVER FOUND NOT GUILTY
He WILL have ANOTHER trial in Oct.
next year.
More stress, more financial drainage. From what I’ve read Spector was obsessed with following the case.So hopefully it will take it’s toll on him some more. He’s like O.J. now,no one believes he is innocent besides a a very small % of fools.

“His one time mentor and respected music producer “Amet Ertegun” when asked about the murder at first said “No I don’t think he could do it” then pondered for a few “seconds” and asked “Was he left alone with the young woman? he never should of been left alone with her”.

Kim | 10/5/2007, 12:40 pm EST

“Sorry, Other people feel as I do. Ponder your lame rebukes. You feel like he got off because of money. Last I looked, the state had unlimited money to prosecute”

It’s call a “bribe”.
Spector knows the law he knows that only “one” person will give the mistrial effect.

Wow,they had to go all the way back to Phil’s highschool days to get someone say something nice?

You’d think there would be an OVERWHELMING outpouring of this injustice that’s being done to Spector. It’s not there.

People know better that know him.
Where’s the support from the past/present music community?
All I see is hangerons, people that have not done anything in YEARS that are glad to be noticed via the Spector case.

You have your work cutout for you if you get upset about namecalling, insults, nasty comments towards Spector.

On a nightly basis on T.V. he is made fun of.

There’s TONS of blogs, message boards making a mockery of our legal system/Spector
This is NOTHING compared to that.
I see that Phil Spector poster all over the place.
And it ain’t me.

Kim | 10/5/2007, 12:26 pm EST

“As far as name calling, half of the responses made talk about his wife, size, personality etc. Like that is a reason to convict? Also, you say he is a mean person. The one witness had been his friend from high school and said what a kind and caring man he is. I really don’t care what you think, because he is innocent. And, as long as there is one person like me out there, he will get another mistrial. So again, cry, wring your hands, gripe, call names, ask for Gods mystical intervention, pray that he loses all his wealth and fret that he isn’t in jail”

Jusright- First of all I never called YOU any names. So whatever names anyone calls Spector is really none of your concern. It’s not a personal attack on YOU.You seem to be the one crying over that.

I am not crying, praying {another of your offhand insults you feel you must ALWAYS slip into your replies}to god over this {i’m an atheist for one thing}.
I’m simply stating my thoughts on the case in the forum.

You and I are both entitled.

As for the rest of your comments about the actual case I’m now wondering if you really know Spector’s entire history PRE this trial.
Have you read the various books about him PRE this trial etc.

If so how where do you get the info. about NO violent behavior towards threatening people with guns throughout the years?

His crazy paranoid jeolousy with pretty much EVERY woman that was involved with him from his teenager days to present.
In which he stalked them until the finnally {out of fear} had to end the relationships.

His alcoholism ,and what a nasty drunk he is.
His paranoid schizophrenia.
His hurfull unprovoked acts to others who viewed him as a friend, but quickly didn’t bother with him anymore because of this.

His one time mentor and respected music producer when asked about the murder at first said “No I don’t think he could do it” then pondered for a few seconds and asked “Was he left alone with the young woman? he never should of been left alone with her”.

Producer Don Kirshner who also worked with him when asked about him being up for murder charges replied “It was just a matter of time I always knew he’d hurt himself or someone else”

Nancy Sinatra’s family was upset she was dating him and when it ended very relieved because of his past.

Joni Mitchell warned Leonard Cohen back when Spector was working on his Death Of A Ladies Man album about his violent antics etc.She had been recording next door to the Lennon/Spector recording session for John’s Rock And Roll album. This is the session where Spector pulled out a loaded gun {unbeknownst to everyone it was loaded} and started shooting it} Spector’s own mother was present and hit the floor along with Lennon and the others.

Melissa Blaine -Spector’s asst. and daughter of Hal Blaine who was a good friend of Spectors is currently rallying about his guilt.

And of course Ronnie Spector who was kept so secluded from the outside world and others that when people came to visit they figured she wasn’t home.Quite the opposite she was being held captive by Spector.Like so many others after her fearful of her safety.

The list goes on and on all PRE Spector killing Lana Clarkson.

I guess EVERYONES word is no good.
I guess NO ONE is telling the truth about Spector, even though it all goes back to the 60’s.

I guess EVERYONE is as paranoid as Spector.

Yes,he will most likely never see a jail cell.
It’s for the wrong reasons and again not sure where you get your info. but it’s been documented in various polls, surveys that 85% think Phil Spector killed Lana Clarkson.

justright | 10/5/2007, 10:17 am EST

I want you to know who is writing, so there is only one name I have used. Sorry, Other people feel as I do. Ponder your lame rebukes. You feel like he got off because of money. Last I looked, the state had unlimited money to prosecute, all Spector did was to try leveling the field. I feel sorry for all the alledged prisoners who didn’t have the resources to mount their own defenses. Maybe if they did, the jails wouldn’t be so filled with people. As far as name calling, half of the responses made talk about his wife, size, personality etc. Like that is a reason to convict? Also, you say he is a mean person. The one witness had been his friend from high school and said what a kind and caring man he is. I really don’t care what you think, because he is innocent. And, as long as there is one person like me out there, he will get another mistrial. So again, cry, wring your hands, gripe, call names, ask for Gods mystical intervention, pray that he loses all his wealth and fret that he isn’t in jail. I am happy for Phil, hope he lives a long life and know I know that he is innocent.

A Casual Observer | 10/4/2007, 9:57 pm EST

“Phil is a freak.”

I always knew he was violent,a bully with serious problems but the new book by Mick Brown really shows some of the other sick stuff his own children have alledged.
Incest etc.
Really out there.
And this guy waas the first interview Spector did in 25 yrs. PRE killing Lana Clarkson.
After reading it {and I’m a fan of his music,a musician myself} I didn’t walk away feeling any empathy towards him what so ever.
As oppossed to other bios and their ilk this one made me dislike him even more as a person.
The last chapter about who Lana Clarkson was and who he IS made me really wish he was the one dead.

He’s just a pint sized bully who doesn’t always take his meds for depression, seizures, anxiety.Ge ts very nasty when he drinks and gets his s@#$ off threatening people to prove how “big” he thinks he is.
Just a very sad,pathetic creature.

I meant that.

Kim | 10/4/2007, 3:37 pm EST

“Kim ,do you have a Rolex to confiscate?”

Which is relevent because?
Why should I saying I do/don’t to you?
It’s the internet I’m giving my honest opinion about thinking Spector {and O.J.} being guilty.

o.J. has been crying poverty to the courts then during one of his recent appearnces someone presented to the court his wwrist with the Rolex. So that’s how that came about.I guess he figured after the 9 yrs he could wear it in public, not sure.
As I skim your posts all you do is start arguments because someone doesn’t agree with you {in a nasty way I might add}.

No intelligent.
NO point/counterpoint,just lame threats over the internet etc.

Bringing into the convos asinine questions such as “Do I own a Rolex?”

Like a child if I don’t I’m suppossed to feel… what? Bad…
If I do brag to you I do in hope of showing I have money to get one if I so desired.
Just stupid.
Again you have no idea who I am what my wealth or lack of is.
Nor do I you.
Nor do I care…
You can’t give a good debate so you must resort to these childish tactics which impresses no one. {but yourself of course and your various monickers here}.

Kim ,do you have a Rolex to confiscate? BTW, he must have of just bought it, because the civil jugement was nine years ago!Does this mean the Goldmans can’t get at all his money? O.J. is free. Spector is free. No mystical intervention is going to make them feel punishment. They are going to enjoy life and there is nothing your writings can do to change it. They are innocent!

“Take your solace in the fact that he spent a ton of money for his defense. I wish I had his cheese to blow and I suspect you are envious of his wealth.”

Oh I do take solace in this,BUT NOT because I’m envious of his wealth.Because it seems to be the way to hit him where it hurts the most.
I have no problem with him being deemed not guilty under the right circumstances.
My problem is it should be for the RIGHT reasons, not because as the news mentioned “He got a mistrial not because of his fame but because of deep pockets”.

I think he is guilty, following this case {which is ironic as I had no interest in it at firt, but then once I read/heard all the evidence} was OUTRAGED he might get off for the aforementioned reasons.

Nothing wrong with having wealth, reaping the rewards that come with it.
It’s just the LONG history of Spector’s twisted violent abuse towards unprovoked people {especially woman} he has displayed.
Then it finnally caught up with him his money gets him a “get out of jail free card” ?

It’s just not right.

Then your “type” of person seems to just dismiss this young woman’s life as not worth all that much because she wasn’t a big actress, had money/fame that rivaled Spector.

Call me and others names all you want.Doing so only shows your maturity level.

10 GUILTY ,a measly 2 not guilty

Billy the putz. I don’t give a good rat’s ass what you believe, because I don’t see it your way. I didn’t make up our judicial system, but we all have to live by it. The man had a mistrial, and I am sure the defense will learn from any mistakes they made and we will have the same result-MISTRIAL. Take your solace in the fact that he spent a ton of money for his defense. I wish I had his cheese to blow and I suspect you are envious of his wealth. O.J. is bankrupt but goes to Vegas, plays golf every day and parties like a 20 year old. He isn’t punished by spending coin and neither will Spector. The man is innocent.

“Spector is back where he started when his last trial began. He has spent a lot of money mounting a defense. He gets to repeat it all again. There will be SOME justice in this case. ”

Hopefully he’ll rot in prision next time around. You know what’s interesting.Spector’s pistol was found next to Lana’s “left” leg when she was killed. But she was right handed…

How the hell/why would she use her left hand to shoot herself?

Like pretty much if not all Spector’s defense IT MAKES NO SENSE.
He lied and told the police he called 911,there was only one call reported, the call from the driver.
Spector’s story has more holes in it then swiss freakin’ cheese.

BTW the report stated that her level of prescription pain killer {Vicadin} was just that, prescription level. No sign of abuse.

CC | 10/3/2007, 3:24 pm EST

The women who testified that Spector put guns in his hand in their similiar position of Clarkson just prior to death. De Souza put the gun in Spector’s hand immediately after the shot that killed her. Most reasonable people would not require a photograph of the actual shooting to convict. Spector is back where he started when his last trial began. He has spent a lot of money mounting a defense. He gets to repeat it all again. There will be SOME justice in this case.

If anything the OPPOSITE!.

At the very least he’ll be drained some more financially.
His health will suffer and as most are hoping he’ll drop dead VERY SOON!

Judge Fidler should recuse himself from this case. He is far too prosecution-biased.

Spector will never be convicted because there will again be at least 1 intelligent, analytical juror who will see the high probability that Clarkson shot herself.

Jim | 10/1/2007, 12:01 am EST

The prosecution has to convince all twelve jurors beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty. All the defense has to do is raise reasonable doubt it the mind of one juror to get a hung jury.

Spector is clearly guilty. Next time, hopefully, the prosecution will get the goofs off the jury.

larry | 9/28/2007, 9:27 pm EST

I would vote not guilty just like those 2 jurors because I’ve just found out how Clarkson shot herself in the mouth. Fact: The gun had no fingerprint. Whatever happened before Clarkson died, for whatever motive, Clarkson put the gun in her own mouth, fired it, dropped dead (1), resurrected, cleaned the gun then fell back to death (2). From six feet away, Spector walked over to pick up the gun, went to the door, told the chauffer “I think I killed somebody.” then he walked back in, let go the gun, Clarkson resurrected again, cleaned the gun to leave no fingerprint, fell back to death once more. The should try Spector 2 more times because Clarkson died 3 times.

Well, you’re presupposing he has a conscience. There’s 50/50 chance that he could give a fuck about his role in what happened.

Also, if he has a guilty conscience. Ask yourself,”would I rather have a guilty conscious rotting in a jail cell, or having a drink with an umbrella in it in my sprawling mansion.”

Our "justice" system | 9/27/2007, 12:29 pm EST

Justright…You misinterpret the word insinuate; I asked you directly, are you an actress and are you 40. If I had asked, how old are you and what do you do, that could be construed as insinuation. And I must tell you, I have never been called pious before, and I don’t understand your insinuation by using that word. But instead of getting into a ridiculous semantic discussion (too late, but we can stop soon)…I fully and whole-heartedly support your right to an opposing opinion. I just wish (insinuation alert) Lana’s and/or Phil’s ten angels had been with him or her that night 4 or 5 years ago so none of this would have happened.

justright | 9/27/2007, 12:11 pm EST

By insinuation, you ask am I a forty year old actress and suggest yourself more informed. You are pious without the ability to believe two people looking at the same facts can’t come to different conclusions. How pathetic this world would be if we were all robots doing the same thing. You are no better or worse than I, you are no more intelligent, your vote counts as one and we both have a right to an opinion. I don’t share your belief, I think he is innocent. You are free to disagree, but like those two jurors, I don’t agree with the majority.Being right isn’t always popular, and being popular isn’t always right.

Cathy | 9/27/2007, 12:00 pm EST

Our "justice" system | 9/27/2007, 11:53 am EST

Just right…you got me, I did not read the entire transcript of the trial. Ergo, my opinion is possibly less informed than yours; are you an actress? Are you 40? Are you depressed…If Lana had gone home that night, or stopped at a friend’s house, and came across a gun, do you think she would have shot herself? I am not an actress, I am 50, I occasionally drink, I take the odd vicodine for the thrill. I am stalled in my career, and have taken anti-depressents in the past. Some people would characterize me as down in the dumps. While I don’t make it a habit to go to strange people’s homes, and I haven’t prostituted myself at least in the classic call-girl fashion, if someone should find me in a chair with part of my head blown away at the home of a person who has a long history of getting his rocks off threatening women (of various ages)by brandishing a loaded gun, don’t assume I’ve killed myself. The other person in the room did it.

Justice may not have been served here but eventually he will have to meet his maker. You only have a one man jury in the big sky. In my my mind he has already been convicted and will do his time an a jail in a cell in hell with no cold navy grogs to ease his thirst. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Phil is a freak.

“The will of God prevails. In great contests each party claims to act in accordance with the will of God. Both may be, and one must be, wrong. God cannot be for and against the same thing at the same time.If I were to try to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for any other business. I do the very best I know how - the very best I can; and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the end brings me out all right, what’s said against me won’t amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, ten angels swearing I was right would make no difference. The man is innocent

guilty | 9/27/2007, 11:24 am EST

There will come a day that Phil will be punished and that day is……..JUDGEMENT DAY!!!!

I'm right! | 9/27/2007, 11:22 am EST

Sometimes morons get onto juries. According to these idiots, Simpson’s wife, Blake’s wife, Peterson’s wife, and probably Vick’s dogs all committed suicide. What is distressing is that some of the cretins who’ve posted comments here might be jurors some day.
Phil Spector is a pathetic little creep who gets courageous and viscious with alchohol and a gun. I’ll be happy when he rots in jail, but it appears, from the look of him, that he has already been rotting for quite some time. The ten jurors who spent months of their time and did the right thing must be infuriated. May the other two jurors go quit preposterously unlikely suicides, and soon.

“Our Justice System” If you are an actress with no career yet in movies at 40, its over. I saw her writings of hopelessness, saw the toxicology report on alcohol and vicodine in her system, heard from the madam who indicated she worked as a call girl-not introduced, in her writings talk about money problems, made a video on credit for 40,000 that stunk, had just went through a break up-how many things would it take to kill yourself. He gave the gun but she pulled the trigger.

Our "justice" system | 9/27/2007, 11:11 am EST

Dear Justright…she was old? Oh, of course, she felt old, took drugs and said, let me go to this incredibly ancient (do people live to 67 without killing themselves?) drunken old codgers house and kill myself. Does this really make sense to you?

Tucker | 9/27/2007, 11:04 am EST

Remeber the Golden Rule.

Those with the Gold make the Rules.

justright | 9/27/2007, 11:02 am EST

LINDA WHAT A GREAT ARGUEMENT-I BOUGHT SHOES THAT MAKES ME STABLE? SHE WAS DRINKING, TOOK DRUGS, HAD NO CAREER, WAS SNUBBED BY DIRECTORS AND WAS OLD. SHE KILLED HERSLF IN NEW SHOES-BIG DEAL.

Linda | 9/27/2007, 10:58 am EST

No beautiful woman who just bought seven pairs of shoes would kill herself. Plus, “I think I just killed somebody.” Come on…

mcorkle | 9/27/2007, 10:56 am EST

the prosecution was a bit nazi like from what i saw. remember kids..our justice system was created by men with money.

whynot | 9/27/2007, 10:51 am EST

I am glad he is free. She was drunk, had vicodine in her system, worked as a prostitute, made a lousy video, had no career and went home with a 67 year old man who put a gun on the table. She had a opportunity to end her life and took it. Thats not murder.

JoeTaylor | 9/27/2007, 10:45 am EST

I’m still undecided, if prosecution witnesses were truthful in their statements, then I feel a possibility–still perplexed. I’m glad he got a mistrial; I’d say sitting in court everyday wears you down, like corroded rock worn by years of water flow.

Yuck | 9/27/2007, 10:43 am EST

I’d rather have a guilty person walk, then an innocent person go to jail.
====
Great! no need to even waist time with a judicial system then…..

ziggy | 9/27/2007, 10:43 am EST

The man was not guilty. She killed herslf over her stupid video-they watched it together and Spector got sick.

Our "justice" system | 9/27/2007, 10:42 am EST

How did the stars align to allow a woman (depressed or not), who indisputedly went to Phil Spector’s house only after someone else had to tell her who he was, find a gun and say to herself, oh, since I’m here, and the gun is here, may as well kill myself, even though women don’t typically use guns to end their lives, especially women who are considered beautiful, coincidently in the home of someone who was in the habit of pointing guns at women when he was drunk and had come closer than almost anyone else in the universe at accidently shooting dozens of women. How could any juror think coincidences like this exist. I hope the two dissenting jurors speak out; I suspect we will hear something as lunatic as I heard during a jury deliberation..”how can we judge, we weren’t there”…needless to say, that too became a hung jury.

Tom | 9/27/2007, 10:42 am EST

Everyone in the industry has known since at least the Sixties that Phil was crazy and unpredictable. Why that aspect was never presented more obviously is a mystery. The prosecution teams in SoCal eventually will get celebrity trial procedure down but until then the stars are free to kill. Next…

What A World | 9/27/2007, 10:31 am EST

WOW!!!,I guess I’m a Canadian Idiot!,I really thought he was “100%” GUILTY,didn’t think he would get off on this one.And another gets to walk for now!!.Maybe next trail he will be charge with a Petty Offence
“drunkenness”with a gun hehe.Spector will not need lawers for that charge what a PETTY!.Great whats this world coming to .

TRISH | 9/27/2007, 10:25 am EST

I AGREE WITH SHIRLEY
LANA DID NOT COMMIT SUICIDE ONLY THE RICH GET AWAY WITH MURDER
THIS IS NOT JUSTICE

bologna | 9/27/2007, 10:17 am EST

This was the right call. The defense could not present evidence on her drug, drinking prostitution, and star obsession behavior. Even without it the State failed. A innocent man is free again.

lastchance | 9/27/2007, 10:10 am EST

Good for Spector-the State with all the money, cops, investigators and prosecutors could’t convince 12 people he did it. If you weigh who paid for what, the Stae’s bill was probaly double Spectors.

Terrin | 9/27/2007, 10:07 am EST

This case proves that the jury system ONLY works in high profile cases. Only people with money can afford to adequately defend themselves by paying lawyers, witnesses, and experts.

It is also appalling that the jury is allowed to speak about the case afterwards. This only benefits the prosecution.

I’d rather have a guilty person walk, then an innocent person go to jail.

abouttime | 9/27/2007, 10:06 am EST

Yeah- justice was served. He may have provided the gun but she pulled the trigger.

Richard Dean Glimes | 9/27/2007, 10:04 am EST

Justice has it’s price tag!
Like anything else Justice depends on the size of one’s bank account.
A millionaire can sit up a machine gun on a busy Main street. Then kill everyone in sight. When arrested hire them self a battery of high powered Criminal lawyers.Follow the script their attorney gives them, and end up walking out of the court room a free man. Hinkley shoots a president and never serves a day in prison. A female mentally deranged member of the Manison family points a gun at President Ford and ends up in prison for life.

HIFIVE | 9/27/2007, 10:04 am EST

He should have gotten off. The defense did a better job and I think they were right on with thinking she killed herself.(she must have watched her stupid video showing she had no talent and decided to end it)

diceroll777 | 9/27/2007, 10:01 am EST

I am glad he got a mistrial. The defense made good arguements that created reasonable doubt. It is great that each person comes to their own conclusion and is not railroaded by the herd.

spector is a murderess. that’s right, a murderess. he murdered that woman because she discovered his transvestitism: that boy is a broad.

Shirley | 9/27/2007, 9:39 am EST

What is wrong with the people in this world, first O.J. now this skum Spector, please, you know this girl did not commit suicide!

This case again proves that the jury system is not working in high profile cases in California.
The defense relies on the fact that at least one or two out of twelve are certain to be an idiot.

sandra | 9/27/2007, 9:21 am EST

this is not justice.
i believe in karma
