What It Is: Shaped, quite literally, like the Hindenberg, the Zeppelin is the first high-end iPod speaker dock from audiophile-speaker-maker Bowers & Wilkins (B&W).
Who It’s For: Audiophiles, of course, as well as aesthetes who are tired of the same-old, same-old boxy design of most iPod speaker docking systems (or anyone psyched about the Led Zeppelin reunion, of course).
Why It’s Worthy: Sound is crisp and accurate, particularly in the mid-range, and it rarely distorts on low-end bass, despite turning the volume way-up. Looks-wise, the Zeppelin is unlike any other iPod peripheral and screams high-end with its stainless steel backside and hefty weight — it’s solid. Plus, it’s got an audio input so you can play other audio sources (or your computer) through its speakers, as well as S-Video and composite outputs in case you want to watch your iPod videos on a TV.
Our Only Complaint: It’s pricey, and the remote, though responsive, is limited — it’ll let you skip songs, and switch between audio sources, but it won’t let you scroll through your library, for example.
