The Fifteen Best Rock Couples

9/24/07, 5:34 pm EST

This weekend, as Rock Daily reflected on the White Stripes’ canceled tour, we celebrated rock couples. While we agree that Sid and Nancy were a totally fabulous rock-star pair, because they didn’t actually make music together, they didn’t make the final list (we limited ourselves to artists who were together both onstage and off):

1. John Lennon and Yoko Ono
2. Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash
3. Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon
4. Jack and Meg White
5. Paul and Linda McCartney
6. Richard and Linda Thompson
7. Win Butler and Regine Chassagne
8. Patti Scialfa and Bruce Springsteen
9. Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks
10. Sonny & Cher
11. Ike and Tina Turner
12. John Doe and Exene Cervenka
13. Debbie Harry and Chris Stein
14. Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull
15. Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley

You’re a bad judge of music if you can’t even mention John & Alice Coltrane.

I suggest listening to both artists.

How come there’s no Josh Homme and Brody Dalle? The rockest couple the world has ever known, surely. She was on a track on Lullabies to Paralyze so they’ve recorded together.
