Amy Winehouses Duets With Prince, Gerard Way to Direct Two My Chemical Romance Videos, Dr. Dre Announces Post-”Detox” Retirement

9/24/07, 9:45 am EST

  • Amy Winehouse finally responded to Prince’s pleas for her to join him at one of his London gigs and joined him at the afterparty for the last of the twenty-one shows over the weekend. The pair duetted on Winehouse’s “Love Is a Losing Game,” a track Prince had previously covered in his live show.
  • My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way says the band will release two more singles from last year’s The Black Parade. Way also revealed he’ll direct the tracks’ videos, and announced his brother, bassist Mikey Way, will rejoin the band on their next outing.
  • Dr. Dre has announced his long-awaited Detox — now slated for a 2008 release — will be his last solo album in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “I think it’s time to move on,” Dre, now forty-two, says, calling rap “a young man’s game.” Dre also said he’s devoting the next two months to working on Eminem’s forthcoming album.
  • Authorities found serious wounds on buried dogs they discovered during a raid of DMX’s Arizona property last month. No charged have been filed against the rapper or anyone else, though the sheriff in charge of the case indicated this may change as the investigation continues.
  • Dashboard Confessional will sell The Wire Tapes, Volume One, an album of covers of songs originally done by the likes of Weezer and Regina Spektor, exclusively on their upcoming tour. Tracklisting after the jump.

Dre is psychodelic. None of these new guys have that vibe.
