9/21/07, 4:46 pm EST

The rock and roll life takes its toll on a couple, but it’s great when it works (and can make for some great music even when it doesn’t: see Ike and Tina Turner). Here are five of our favorite rock couples; what are yours?

  • John Lennon and Yoko Ono
  • Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon
  • Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash
  • Jack and Meg White

(p.s sid did not kill nancy!)

Monsieur | 9/22/2007, 1:46 am EST

Wow a lot of ignorant ppl :
Kurt Cobain not Curt Cobain
Yoko Ono did not break the Beatles.

Now my best couples would be :
John and Yoko
Kurt and Courtney
Kevin Drew and Leslie Feist
Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon
Eye and Yoshimi??

Anonymous | 9/22/2007, 1:26 am EST

Let’s see, Sid killed Nancy. Curt committed suicide and Courtney is a trainwreck. Paul’s music has been insipid without John. And Yoko has spent 40 yrs. living on the fact that she was married to John but has no talent of her own.

Romance doesn’t work that well in music except for in a few cases:
The White Stripes
Bob Dylan and Joan Baez
The Eurythmics
Stevie and Lindsey

I actually like all of RS’s choices (especially Thurston and Kim) but would add:
Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris (even if she claims they never did the deed)
John Doe and Exene Cervenka
Kurt and Courtney
and of course
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards (who, according to various reports, including one by John Lennon, were spotted naked in the same bed back in the ’60’s)

Rock | 9/21/2007, 5:52 pm EST

Mick Jagger and Marianne Faithfull. This better end up on the list. High up on the list.

If so then I’ll go with Amy Winehouse and Blake whatever his last name is.
