Bono and a Quintet of Salma Hayeks: Photos From the Set of “Across the Universe”

9/21/07, 4:35 pm EST

Julie Taymor’s Beatles-inspired musical Across the Universe hits theaters across the country today and while the movie’s plot is a bit too complex to summarize (there’s a love story, an anti-war story, a rock & roll story — all set in the Sixties), here’s some major points: Evan Rachel Wood, Jim Sturgess and the rest of the cast play characters named after protagonists in Beatles songs; the cast performs thirty-three Fab Four songs over the course of the film; and Bono, Salma Hayek, Joe Cocker and Eddie Izzard pop up at various times. For more shots from the set like the one above — that’s Bono as Dr. Robert under the fringes and moustache — click here.

Bono is a self-important wanker who’s “saving the world!”

“scissor me timbers,”

I can understand wanting to kill Madonna as a joke (maybe you’re not kidding!) but as far as wishing harm on Shimon Peres makes you sound like an anti-semedic bigot!

The movie, like the soundtrack is FAB!

I’ve even got a new name for it:
“Sgt. Pepper’s II – The Apology”.

Anyone who’s seen that 1978 trainwreck will agree!
