Julie Taymor’s Beatles-inspired musical Across the Universe hits theaters across the country today and while the movie’s plot is a bit too complex to summarize (there’s a love story, an anti-war story, a rock & roll story — all set in the Sixties), here’s some major points: Evan Rachel Wood, Jim Sturgess and the rest of the cast play characters named after protagonists in Beatles songs; the cast performs thirty-three Fab Four songs over the course of the film; and Bono, Salma Hayek, Joe Cocker and Eddie Izzard pop up at various times.
