This week, Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem kicked off a highly anticipated joint national tour. Rock Daily caught up with frontmen Win Butler and James Murphy at Austin City Limits to find out how the two bands teamed up (apparently Arcade Fire asked LCD to the prom, and Murphy is praying for a wrist corsage) and whether they’ll be playing together onstage (”I don’t know that they need any more,” laments Murphy). Watch the pair gush about each other’s bands, talk about their cell phone communication breakdowns and more by clicking above on our exclusive video.

They finally did end up playing together at the NYC end-of-tour stop. Win and William Butler joined LCD on North American Scum and Richard Reed Perry played on LCD’s last song: New York I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down

Saw both groups at Austin City Limits- do yourself a god damn favor and buy tickets, both these acts are fantastic. Arcade Fire in particular blew my damn mind, and I’ve been listening to their discs for a couple years now…
