
- Forty-two years after being arrested in Starkville, Mississippi, Johnny Cash will be pardoned by the town for a 1965 incident in which he was arrested while picking flowers from a resident’s garden. The town will also honor Cash, who was inspired to write “Starkville City Jail” after being released from a night in the local prison, in the Johnny Cash Flower Pickin’ Festival November 2-4th.
- With Congress calling hearings on rap lyrics and Ja Rule spouting homophobia, DMC of Run-DMC hopes to spotlight the good in hip-hop with his J.A.M. Awards in New York on November 29th. The ceremony will honor three people from the hip-hop community for their work on social justice, the arts and music. Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli and De La Soul are confirmed to attend.
- 50 Cent and Lil’ Kim, along with their record labels, have been sued by a New York producer who claims the pair owes him $2 million in royalties for work on 2003’s “Magic Stick,” which was intended for 50’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ but wound up on Lil’ Kim’s La Bella Mafia.
- Elton John joined Prince onstage last night in London during the encore for the most recent of Prince’s twenty-one dates at the O2 arena (the site of the upcoming Led Zeppelin reunion). The duo performed the Beatles‘ “Long and Winding Road” with Prince on guitar and John on piano.
- The Cure have announced rescheduled dates for their fall tour that was postponed so they could complete studio work. Keep reading for new dates.
