Tales From Van Halen’s Reunion Rehearsals: David Lee Roth Pals Around With Eddie Van Halen, Wolfgang Sings

9/10/07, 4:43 pm EST

In an epically long post on Blabbermouth taken from the Yahoo! Van Halen list, a fan recounts their experience at a Van Halen reunion-tour rehearsal in Los Angeles that allegedly took place this weekend. The fan didn’t cough up a location for the rehearsal, though rumors place it at the Los Angeles Forum. Who knows if this account is legit, but if it’s a hoax, it sure is one detailed piece of fan fiction. Plus: There are photos! Here are our favorite bits:

  • “Eddie was the first to arrive, and very shortly after that, Wolfgang [Van Halen, bass] and Alex [Van Halen, drums]. Valerie [Bertinelli, Eddie Van Halen’s ex-wife and mother of Wolfgang] was with Wolf as were about five of his friends from school, I’m guessing. (They all looked the same age.) Alex and Ed spent about 15 minutes on stage noodling while Wolfie was showing his friends the venue. The three of them then met on stage and Eddie said into the P.A., ‘We’re not opening with it, but let’s play ‘I’m The One’ just to warm up. And that they did.”
  • “When Dave did show up, right from the start, he was all smiles. He was dressed in tight, flared out leather pants and a black/striped dress shirt. Dave addressed the crowd and treated us as if we were guests in his arena sized house. He thanked us for coming and talked about how excited he was to be here and what a ‘privilege and honor’ it was to play with his ‘bruthas from another mutha.’”
  • “The show started with ‘You Really Got Me’. Dave was standing on the high part of the stage above Alex waving a giant red flag as the show began. Then he threw the flag down, and for the first time in over 22 years, David Lee Roth sang on stage with Eddie Van Halen.”
  • “Wolfgang did a fine job, even providing decent sounding backup vocals. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about him, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say that Michael Anthony was missed. While Wolf competently filled the position, he doesn’t have the same sound, either in his playing or in his voice, as Michael. … I do have to say though, it’s obvious how much Ed loves playing with Wolfgang. He would be all smiles when he walked over to Wolfie and after one song, stepped up to the P.A. and said, ‘Great job, Wolf. Great.’”
  • “The great thrill of the show was seeing Dave and Ed interact. If there’s any animosity between them, it didn’t show at all. Both were constantly smiling, and Dave often did the schtick where he holds his mic to Ed’s guitar during a solo while he looks at the crowd, open mouthed in astonishment. That’s not to say that Dave didn’t get pissed, however. He was standing out by the far tail of the ‘S’ runway when, in the middle of a song, he yelled at the soundboard crew with intense anger, ‘TURN THE FUCKING VOCALS UP! Don’t make me ask you again!’ I turned to Ed to see his reaction, thinking he would be pissed at Dave’s behavior, but incredibly, Ed just smiled even wider. As Dave walked past him returning to the stage, they did a mini-hi-five, low and behind each other’s back. I don’t know what it meant. I’m guessing it’s one of those things that only makes sense to two people who have known each other for decades.”

+how about: skipping a freaking world tour? (again)

> Until Hopefully A DVD Is Released

I’m with you. But.. Is Ed with us?

25% LESS Loyalty to fans

> bad behavior and poor judgement

? They’re Rockers! I just want my Van Halen. That’s EdAlMikeSinger.

> Michaek Anthony … base solos? Pure crap.

MA solos kick GedLeeAss!

> kid his age or so deserves to be part of the stage

My kid? Yours? Ed’s?

Nope. Ed is too golfing cheap. (Hope I’m wrong.)

> Rush was formed in .. yada yada

WGAF!?

> Van Wolfie is a wack concept from the beginning

I dunno. I’d love to take my kid on tour if he can play. What an ultimate fucking father-son rush that has got to be.

I love Van Halen music.

For Christ’s sake: if the author of this piece must add useless commentary, at least DON’T SCREW UP THE HTML! (imho)

..and if RS fixes it post this comment? screw you! ;) I’m always right.

Sammy Fan | 11/14/2007, 7:19 pm EST

Whoever posted the comment about what other band has been rockin since the 70’s…what about Aerosmith. They don’t have a new singer every few years. Let’s face it, Eddie and Alex needed the money and the only way to get the fans at the shows is to hire DLR. Without a front man, VH is worthless. Hell, even with a front man (Gary Cherone) they were worthless.
No one beats Sammy!!!

Hypestyle | 10/26/2007, 12:35 pm EST

Van Wolfie is a wack concept from the beginning, it’s clear that the Van Halen brothers are real jerks, and I guess they figured NOBODY would show up to the tour if they got another new frontman besides Dave, but beyond that I guess they felt that Michael was expendable just for the sake of getting Kid Van Halen to play with his dad.. Eddie should put together another band for him! What is he going to be playing when the rest of the guys are in their 70’s?

Mankey | 10/11/2007, 5:28 pm EST

Thanks for that info. I had thought Rutsey was one of the original members so you had me doubting myself ! Rock on Thunder !

Thunder Man | 10/11/2007, 11:09 am EST

John Rutsey played on that first album. Original drummer John Rutsey was unable to go on extended tours and left the band after the first album was released. Rutsey wrote some lyrics for the debut, but never submitted them to the band and some new lyrics had to be thrown together. Neil Peart replaced Rutsy in July of 74, 2 weeks before their first U.S. Tour. He quit the band citing creative differences and health concerns related to his diabetes that may have posed potential problems with extended tours. Rutsey’s leaving was pivotal for the band as his replacement, Neil Peart’s distinctive drumming technique and flair for lyric writing proved to be crucial to the band’s evolution as evidenced by their second album, Fly by Night.

Mankey | 10/9/2007, 5:56 pm EST

Who played drums on that 1974 Rush self titled album ? I thought it was Rutsey but maybe I am mistaken. Thanks.

VH fan | 9/26/2007, 12:40 pm EST

Hey Thunder Man
You missed my point, I was talking about ’startup’ 90’s bands but I must say kudos to your knowledge on two other very good bands

Thunder Man | 9/26/2007, 11:37 am EST

Check the dates. Rush, All original members from the 70’s. 1974 to be exact. Rush was formed in 1968 by Alex Lifeson, Jeff Jones, and John Rutsey. Geddy Lee replaced Jeff Jones in September of 1968. Neal replaced John Rutsey in July of 1974 2 weeks before their firt U.S. Tour. The self titled debut Rush album came out in 1974.
Billy Gibbons was in Moving Sidewalks and Frank Beard and Dusty Hill were in The American Blues before ZZ Top. In 1969 it was Billy and Frank and they replaced their bass player with Dusty Hill.
James Patrick “Jimmy” Page was with The Yardbirds before Led Zepplin.
Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Mark Stone were Mammoth before Van Halen.
Mike Stone had an affair with Priscilla Presley and Elvis wanted Red West to kill Mike Stone.
YOU GET MY POINT.

Mankey | 9/25/2007, 7:55 pm EST

I love Rush and all but it is NOT all original members… John Rutsey anyone ????

Hey all you assholes out there that have nothing good to say,go back to crying and whining in your beers and dont drown! Van Halen is back and with a new member on bass,it will be great to have the opportunity to buy a ticket and see some legendary playing live!! Hopefully the younger generation will take note and understand what great rock and roll is, name one 90’s band that is still kicking ass today….there is none. Van Halen lives forever!

Njkuda | 9/24/2007, 8:13 am EST

Well, all I can say is atleast with Sammy they didn’t rip off the fans. Sammy is a class act who not only provided VH first billboard hits and helped elevate that band but also cared deeply for the fans and in no way was in it just for the money

David 9-22-07 | 9/22/2007, 2:07 pm EST

Van Halen…wow its the sell out money for retirment tour.

Who in Gods blue earth would have
not seen this circus show a million miles away.
Get real people I grew up listing to this band…and for all you new kids out there.
Eddie and Dave have never liked each other …it’s all for the money and the stage drama you dish out your $100 to feed there ego’s.
Van Halen is missing Mike and thats a sin !
I think Eddie wants Van Halen To be like that other band of the 90’s.
Yes like The COORS the irish chick band and there one brother.
Now Eddie has a family band.
This whole thing is such a joke.
Well folks go ahead and waste your money on these guys….maybe donate a wheel chair for eddie to sit in….his bad leg might cause him to sit down.
Good luck to all of these 80’s bands trying to rip off the fans again …Greed sucks!

Thunder man | 9/20/2007, 1:14 pm EST

Dave looks like a talk show host, Ed looks like a crack head, Wolfie looks like a deer caught in the headlights, Alex is hiding behind his drums afraid of his brother.

(disregard my next post, it was a typo)

Thunder man | 9/17/2007, 11:35 am EST

Hmmmmm, Could’nt find any records broken by Van Halen in the Guinness book of World Records, I do know they were paid 1 million dollars to do one show back in the early 80’s. Big Deal. Led Zeppelin has sold over 300 million albums. Thats albums not records. Stairway To Heaven is the most requested song played by radio stations around the world.
Eddie Van Halen uses a technique called finger tapping, everyone did it after him. If you want to see great musicianship, not just some great guitar riffs with some catchy lyrics and some roller rink organ sounds thrown in, like Jump and Dance the Night Away ect,ect then check out Gary Moore, Walter Trout or Stevie Ray Vaughan. Alot of film footage you see of Led Zeppelin is of them playing live. Thats because they were a great live band that has stood the test of time. My prediction is the VH tour will fall apart about half way through.

The Mom Who Grew Up In the 80s | 9/17/2007, 5:19 am EST

Yip, Eddie and the family were at the Forum. They’re finished now, but gave a WONDERFUL performance from start to finish. About 20 songs in all. Even my 14 year old son dug the show. Wolfie is a doll at 15 and Eddie, Alex and David Lee are all in great shape. Loved the “Friends & Family” show (Sunday, September 16,2007).

We all know why Gene Simmons has the commercial $$$ backing, then and now. He was in town this weekend promoting his new clothing line. Nothing-special T-shirts for $120 each. Talk about a rip-off and brainwash to the masses.

All I have to say is….Van Halen made the World Book of Records and “The Zep” didn’t.

Period…….

Travis | 9/14/2007, 9:37 pm EST

If Gene Simmons hadn’t paid for the recording of Van Halen’s first album, they would’ve probably never made it. Although Eddie is probably one of the best guitar gods of all time, if $immons wasn’t there to see his and his band’s potential, Van Halen would be nothing.

Led Zep without Bonham, I don’t know… His drumming style was a huge part of Led Zep’s sound. Van Halen without Anthony, it sucks a bit because it won’t be the genuine VH, but who cares in the end? Who cares if the bass player is Wolfie or any other guy anyway? I don’t care about Wolfie quite frankly, and I wouldn’t care more if the bass player was Warrant’s or any other bozo. Diamond Dave, Alex and Ed in good shape, they’ll tear the roof off everywhere they’ll go. I always liked VH even when they were with uncle Sam or with Gary Homone. Imagine with Dave… Imagine how they’ll show all those little pisser bands how to rock and roll. Even though they’re great bands, My Chemical Romance, Green Day and Linkin Park have not reinvented the wheel. All those kids who buy tickets are convinced they’ll see a great rock and roll show when they go see these bands. They think it rocks to hear “Welcome to the Black Parade” live. Those who think “Welcome to the Black Parade” is a rock anthem, you have probably never heard “Hot For Teacher” live… I still listen to this song in 2007 and it kicks some serious butt. Listen to Motley Crue’s Dr.Feelgood, it still rocks as well (except for Without You or Time For Change, I agree). Listen to the Rolling Stones, they were the first bad guys in rock and roll and they’ve done it all. They have invented something. Listen to Black Sabbath, no one has ever written heavy metal like Tony Iommi did. However, if I listen to Led Zep, I feel the same as if I was listening to Deep Purple or Iron Maiden. They are among the roots of rock, no doubt about this, but they’re pretty much outdated today. Of course, Van Halen has no “Stairway to Heaven”, but very few bands have written such magnificent anthems (except “One” by Metallica and “November Rain” by Guns N’Roses maybe). Van Halen is a legend that resurrected. David has waited for this for 20 years, watch out, we’ll probably see the tour of the decade. They’re ON FIIIIIRRRE!!!

Thunder man | 9/14/2007, 6:19 pm EST

There are 22,000 seats available for led Zep and they got 20 million hits on their web site for those seats. The tickets will be raffled off and the proceeds go to charity. Led Zep has always cared for their fans.
Van/Wolfie only wants your money. KIZZ is right up there with,
THE MONKEYS. Kizz had so much pyro and flames and blinking lights and blood and fireworks going off because they wanted to distract you from their sorry musicianship. If you want to see great musicians check out the dvd Come Hell OR High Water by
DEEP PURPLE.
You won’t find them on any lunch boxes.

la jake | 9/14/2007, 2:00 am EST

i caught the last ten minutes of the set last week and will say it was very good. Different but a little lacking in some departments. When Eddie talks it is usually hard to understand him not for any reason like alcohaol but he just seems weird.

travis, your list is in reverse sequence.

Travis | 9/13/2007, 10:28 pm EST

Van Halen filled the hole Led Zeppelin left empty, period.

I’ll be there in Montreal.

Van Halen eats Led Zeppelin, but there’s no Van Halen without Kiss. No one will ever eat Kiss. That’s a rock and roll fact. In other words:

Led Zeppelin ruled
Van Halen rules
Kiss will everrule!!!

DJDaveKool | 9/13/2007, 10:07 pm EST

When Sammy was in the band, they often did some of Sammy’s solo tunes (One Way to Rock, 55, etc.)

Do you think we will be treated to any of the Gems form DLR such as, let’s see, “Yankee Rose” or “Just a Gigolo”? I mean, wow, these have stood the test of time!!

Since DLR can play some guitar (or at least he did once play “Ice Cream Man” during the tour in 1982), do you think the fans will be treated to something off that best seller “Strumming with the Devil”?

Thisisgonnabebad (the blogger just below) has a point - save your money (because you know that is why Eddie is putting up with Dave, for the money) and Sammy and the Wabo’s.

Thisisgonnabebad | 9/13/2007, 9:54 pm EST

Anybody notice that none of the Sammy era tunes are not on the set list?

You think it might be because that even in his prime, David “Weave” Roth couldn’t hit the notes that Sammy could hit.

Save your money, the Sammy and Mike tour is running at the same time. The tickets are much cheaper and they are doing a fair amount of VH tunes. Sammy’s guitarist is as good as Eddie anyway.

Eddie Sash | 9/13/2007, 6:42 pm EST

Very Cool….. Wolf should start his own band, I would rather see Mikey.

zuala | 9/13/2007, 3:04 pm EST

As a long time Van Halen fan, i’ll miss Mike…To choose between David
& Sammy would be putting oneself between rock and a hard place…Whatever, for all those who get to see them live enjoy it!
I envy you!…

Just Curious

sammy hagar | 9/12/2007, 6:25 pm EST

Its a crying shame that junk seats way up in the nose bleed section are going for around 200.00$ .how about 7000.00$ for first row at madison square garden? I saw them back in 1981 general admission seating for 11.00$ Its a total joke that a lot of people cant afford to see them play now after all these years.

doodlebug | 9/12/2007, 5:15 pm EST

…….apologies…….i should have said that i’ve seen every ‘original recipe’ vh tour since the band’s formation. i also feel i can love and miss michael anthony and also appreciate the newest member. i was present at some recent rehearsals and even the most die-hard old-schoolers were blown away by his chops, his pipes, his discipline and disposition. he holds his own and he’s not full of himself. the kid’s the real deal.

i am amazed at how so many van halen fans are acting, i am on 14, and i know that they are goingto help save rocknroll, im tired of britney here and 50cent there, I WANT SOME VAN HALEN!!but i honestly think that since sammy has covered some of daves song, that dave should pull out 5150 or best of both worlds OR SOMETHING!!
eddie, i am still amazed at how you can handle that guitar, its like you have 5000 rock angels strumming along with you!! alex, you are an Amazing drummer. and of course wolfie, i cant wait to see you in concert and congradulations on being the new bassist, but remember, dont try to mimick micheal, try to bring something of your own.
a warning for david lee roth, ive gotta tell you, you are now officially outnumbered!!

JohnnieRingo | 9/12/2007, 2:55 pm EST

EVERYBODY JUST SHUT UP ALREADY!!! I AM TIRED OF THE CONSTANT BITCHING!! VAN WOLFE OR WHAT EVER YOU WANT TO CALL THEM, THANK GOD ROCK N ROLL IS TOURING AGAIN. I SEE TODAYS MUSIC AS A VERY SAD THING. FROM CHRISTINA TO BRITNEY TO RAP TO HIP HOP TO WHAT EVER ELSE IS OUT THERE, IT SEEMS THAT GOOD OLD ROCK AND ROLL IS DYING. LET’S BAND TOGETHER AND BE THANKFUL WE HAVE SOME GOOD OLD ROCK AND ROLL TO SEE REGAURDLESS OF WHOS PLAYING IT. LETS PUT THE ROCK BACK IN TO ROCK AND ROLL.

David Waters | 9/12/2007, 2:15 pm EST

I don’t know if the Universe is infinite, but the capacity of Ed and Al to insult their fans certainly is. Do you all realize the enormous significance of the Halen brothers doctoring old photos of their album covers to make it look like Michael Anthony was never in the band? It’s an act of EXTREME fraud. Not funny and not cool.

Little Dreamer | 9/12/2007, 2:05 pm EST

Unless you are Eddie’s guitar tech or the front of house sound guy - how is it that you have seen every show over the past 30 years? Were you at the rehearsal?

doodlebug | 9/12/2007, 1:50 pm EST

…..and ‘feel your love tonight’, although a favorite, is not on the set list.

doodlebug | 9/12/2007, 1:19 pm EST

the rehearsals have been magical…wolfgang will win you over with his playing and vocals and a completely lovable brand of swagger all his own. dave’s vocals have never sounded better and he’s been all-smiles, although totally focused on generating the best possible show for the fans. alex is the rock of the group….loud and steady, and eddie’s playing has been transcendant. take it from someone who has seen every show over the last 30 years, this one is special.

Jacko | 9/12/2007, 1:15 pm EST

Great to see them back–but will they stay together for a world tour?

Too bad Michael isn’t there but I think it’s cool that Eddie’s son is there.

But damn that American diet! Obviously something wrong with the food in America because there’s no way Eddie and Valerie could have created Wolfster.

Van Halen wow a reunion to make more money…not a surprise here !
Doesn’t it always come down to Money for all of these metal hair bands ?
I remember back in 1985 reading
out of Metal Edge Magazine …Eddie saying something to the effect…he would never play on stage with David Lee Roth again.
Well looks like he lied…and come on dude…mikes out of the band ..
what the F**K !
Van Halen, Motley Crue all good back in the day…Now your all cash
sell outs….Like I can belive Eddie and Dave are best Buddies again…Get Real…you make me wanna Puke my food up !
Lets cut the B.S. Smiles and buddy, buddy crap…how fake !
When and if Van Halen put out a cd.
I won’t be buying it…I’m So dissapointed in Van Halen !
When will they learn to get along for real…this would mean to includ mike back in the band !!
Peace …Think (Ill wait) for the real Van Halen to (Come Together).

Some Random thought on “The Reunion”

Alex Van Halen: be a leader, not a follower. Start doing your own thing and stop aimlessly following Eddie!!! It is a crying shame that you could not fly to NY to the hall of fame introductions because you can’t go anywhere without your little brother throwing a fit.

Same with DLR - What a baby! Missed hall of fame induction because you couldn’t sing “Jump”. You couldn’t sing “Ain’t talking” with Velvet Revolver? My heart aches for you (you baby).

I am sure that DLR totally agreed with Mikey’s departure from the band - probably because Mikey is friends with Sammy.

The article strangely forgets to mention anything about Dave’s singing. It should be noted that Sammy is 6 years older than Dave and can still sing like he did when he was in Montrose.

B Wood | 9/11/2007, 9:48 pm EST

I would like to see them live.

Don | 9/11/2007, 8:45 pm EST

Nice they are doing a tour and following in the footsteps of bands like the Who. Tour fer the bux and don’t bother with the trivial things like making an album ! Don’t worry if you don’t get a ticket, this might be the start of 20 years of endlessly touring this scam. They should take a lesson from Rush and go spend some time in the studio and have something to tour behind !

marvin | 9/11/2007, 8:22 pm EST

mikes gone wolfies in fuckin deal with it im sure it will be a great show.I saw them in 98 when gary cherone replaced sammy,it was still a great show so everybody shut the fuck up and go out and see DAVE EDDIE ALEX AND WOLFIE and have a great time.

Ritchie Villasenor | 9/11/2007, 7:58 pm EST

Yes! it’s true Van Halen is one of the greatest acts in Rock History, no doubt, but it is also true that we are living different times and even though it would be very, I mean very nice to hear Van Halen in it’s original line up, but is also true that people who criticize do not consider that it is Kids’ times and Wolfgang as every other kid his age or so deserves to be part of the stage, and so he’s got the opportunity of his life with his Father, I wish I was him, good for him!, I still do not lose the hope, that the next tour Michael takes on the stage and tours with the band with no hard feelings just like brothers, Michael is a great guy, I do not think he feels bad for this, his human quality is outstanding, just like Sammy Hagar’s, he is one of the greatest Rock Stars there are, here in Cabo Mexico, like me, many people has had the oppotrunity to shake hands with Sammy and Michael and they are just cool and honorable guys and I even have seen from both of them, evident demonstrations of Great respect for Van Halen, their “Alma Mater”, let’s enjoy what is happening with Van Halen at this moments and hope there is Van Halen for a lot more time that allows Michael and even Sammy to take part of the Fiesta.
Long Live Van Halen!! Ritchie From Cabo ricardo@villasenor.com

J. Daniels | 9/11/2007, 2:54 pm EST

VAN GREEDY, Give us a break. If Eddie cared about his fans at all he would have put out an album first and sold it cheap, for the fans. Then went on tour and sold tickets at an affordable price, for the fans. It can be done. They don’t need to take tons of equipment out on the road. All Hendrix needed was a stack of Marshal amps and a couple of strats. Eddie should have had 2 sons and taught the other one to sing, then they would’nt need Dave either. It’s all about getting more money from all those faithful fans who have been putting up with Eddie Van Ego all these years. Well they are not getting any from me. Im “runnin from the devil”.

Bat VonD | 9/11/2007, 12:52 pm EST

Michael Anthony is a professional Musician/Vocalist and the fans deserve to hear a pro on bass. While I understand Mr. Van Halen’s desire to play with his son, putting an inexperienced teenager in front of a stadium of loyal/paying fans is a bad decision. The quality of the shows will suffer and that’s sad for fans that have endured years of bad behavior and poor judgement from these world-class musicians. I hope Mr. Van Halen will reconsider and bring Micheal Anthony back. Include Wolf on a few songs and make him a part of the show, but not in role that diminishes the quality of one the finest Rock n Roll acts in history.

Judging by the above article, it seems that everyone is anticipating Van Halen to break up again. Also why were the photos removed from Blabbermouth? I don’t get it…what is the secret about them rehearsing together? I am happy that there are partially reunited; however who cares what they do behind the scenes!! As long people get their money’s worth from their concerts is what counts!

DLR Fan for life | 9/11/2007, 10:13 am EST

I saw the blog on blabbermouth yesterday and clicked and yes I saw the pictures that were posted. They had pics of
-Dave holding the red flag over Alex.
-Several obviously taken while they played with Dave, Ed, and Alex or Dave, Wolfgang & Alex (depending on the view)
-Some pics of the small invite only crowd
-Pics of the gear that showed a box marked Edward Van Halen
-The stage was in an S shape etc…

Somebody from VH must have had them remove the pics cause they are gone today but I saw them on 09/10/2007

Anyone that thinks that this tour is going to be a success (beyond the millions they will make) is clueless!

I predict that:

Wolfie will have a hard time dealing with the pressure. He is only 16 and like most 16 year olds he probably has a fragile Ego. Eddie is a bad father for putting his son in this position,

Eddie will fall off the wagon just dealing with DLR’s Ego,

Dave can’t sing the high notes anymore, (Don’t believe me, go to YouTube and find DLR singing Jump on July 4 with a symphony in DC)

Backing vocals anyone!!! While Michal Anthony may not be the best Bass player in rock, his backing vocals are what helped to make the songs so great (ie: Beautiful Girls, Unchained, Love Walks In, etc)

Don’t waste your money folks. I would rather see Gary be the lead singer again. That show in 1998 rocked!

D Boz | 9/11/2007, 10:10 am EST

Well the original poster on the VH mail forum did include a photobucket link which has since been taken down. The pics were incredible! The band looks great and from his personal account of the nights activities it looks to be an awesome gig!! I have 5 Star seats for the gig in Michigan Oct 23 and I cannot wait. Atomic Punk poster, get over it, Jon was their and you weren’t, were all a little jealous but thankfully he posted the narrative and pics for us ALL to enjoy!! Van FingHalen!!

Greg | 9/11/2007, 9:25 am EST

The new line up has 25% MORE Van Halen with Wolfie on board. This is going to be a great show. No need to worry about Wolfie, he’s been playing these songs since he was old enough to walk!

Guitarman | 9/11/2007, 8:58 am EST

Without Mike there is no Van Halen! A 16 year old wet behind the ear BOY can’t replace MICHAEL “CANNON MOUTH” ANTHONY! What’t gonna happen is you’re gonna put this BOY infront of 100,000 people in an arena and he’s gonna choke and go runnin’ to his mommy in stead of Runnin’ With The Devil!

it’s amazing what some cash can do….these guys couldn’t stand each other till the promoters waved a ton of money in their face and now they’re “bruthas.” Please…it’s only a matter of time till ed starts drinking and dave starts acting like dave and that’s never a good thing.

The Atomic Punk | 9/11/2007, 1:11 am EST

Oh the pictures you missed were taken down because they never existed. By the way the next backyard jam practice session they hold at my house, I’ll be sure and give all you LITTLE DREAMERS a head’s up. Get a real life and stop believing J.S. (Jack Shit’s) fantasy world.

Gene | 9/11/2007, 12:27 am EST

God Bless the very best.
We all new this was going to happen just didn’t know when. Being a dice dealer from Tahoe it’s nice to see the chips land where there supposed too.
Good job guys.

Does anyone know why the pics were removed from blabbermouth? I’m pissed I missed them!

The Atomic Punk | 9/10/2007, 11:31 pm EST

I don’t believe these blasphemous lies from some loser for one second. Anyone who does must be a big as dumb ass as the one who wrote it. VH will rock through excellent tunes from the collection and all, but I could have told you that. All I’m saying is don’t be so pathetic as to believe what some retard claims he witnessed. C’Mon Dave…Give Me A Break”! Lord knows I was there too and he forgot to add how they just ripped through Hear About It Later and Where Have All The Good Times Gone! I thought it was two of the best jams they did for us at that sneak preview show in my backyard.

DAVE_IS_VAN_HALEN | 9/10/2007, 10:56 pm EST

LITTLE DREAMER IS AN INCREDIBLE SONG !!! THE RUMOR IS THAT EDDIES PLAYING GUITAR BETTER THAN HE HAS IN 25 YEARS !!!!! HALEN ROCKS !!!!!!!!

Welcome Back Van Halen & Happy Fu**ing Trails….

cc | 9/10/2007, 9:04 pm EST

I was just barely too young to see a van halen concert in 1984. I’ve seen almost all my favorites but van halen with the original singer and a setlist from the real van halen albums is something I have dreamed of. However, I can’t believe what a fucking scam it is to purchase concert tickets anymore! It’s not $15 like it was back in ‘84. Hell, it’s not even what the face value says it is because all the good seats were gone before they went on sale and now you can purchase them through brokers for “how much?” All your money! …and i’m sorry but i’m not sitting in the fuckin back of the arena either(which is what I found available through ticketmaster within the first minute of when they went on sale), fuck that! Would’ve been nice to see the Police this year too but…

LLC | 9/10/2007, 8:28 pm EST

Usually, a VH blog has hundreds of entries (today there’s 13 counting mine). I guess people are staying away because there’s nothing negative in this story about the band that the fucking vampires can jump on!

Steve | 9/10/2007, 8:15 pm EST

To all you clowns that say this isn`t Van Halen..There`s 3 van halens in it and like the cherry on a sundae Diamond Dave is back in the fold..It`s VAN HALEN more van halen than they have ever been in 23 years..Van halen with sammy isn`t van halen so pull your head out of your ass and get over mike not being there.

Rod | 9/10/2007, 8:07 pm EST

This is not Van Halen but a bad imitation of what was a really great band. bring back Mikey

JohnnieRingo | 9/10/2007, 7:37 pm EST

chris | 9/10/2007, 7:29 pm EST

Steve | 9/10/2007, 7:22 pm EST

Did anyone see the rehersal Pics through Blabbermouth.net? VH looks Dangerous, they are going to blow the roof off. I am taking my 7 yeatr old son, the least I can do since he tore apart his Fender Squier and striped hi own VH Frankenstrat. He keeps trying to play the Mean Street intro - killing his mothers ears, I love it. Can’t wait to see Dave and Ed mix it up again.

Steve | 9/10/2007, 7:17 pm EST

I am taking my 7 year old son to the first show in Charlotte. He tore down his Fender Squier and designed and painted his own VH style striped Fender Frankenstrat.
Great songs, great set list whether in that order or not. These guys look like they are ready to blow the roof off. Did anyone else besides me see the rehersal pics from blabbermouth.net before they were taken down? Wow, these guys are dangerous, can’t wait to hear Mean Street.

Ragin Johnny Chubb | 9/10/2007, 7:16 pm EST

I knew this was gonna be

GOOOOOOD….

Mike | 9/10/2007, 5:41 pm EST

Very cool to see Van Halen back together again. As for Wolfgang looking chunky,it could just be the picture that is up…I do wish that Michael Anthony was still with the band though, he is a great bass player and such an integral part of V.H.

Julien | 9/10/2007, 5:27 pm EST

They gonna play “Little guitars”, my favorite song, what else should I ask…?
Ah yes, come to France, make a new record, a live DVD and stay together.
Thanks

Will Lehnert | 9/10/2007, 5:19 pm EST

“Wolfie looks like he could use a little Jenny Craig”

Wow! You are so original!

The kid is 16 and in Van Halen, are you?

Odys Coltrane | 9/10/2007, 4:53 pm EST

Wolfie looks like he could use a little Jenny Craig.

Paul | 9/10/2007, 4:53 pm EST

I am more excited about this tour than I can begin to tell you. I’ll miss Mikey but the REAL thrill is seeing Dave and Ed together again. And if Wolf brings joy to Eddie for sharing the same stage and creating music together who are we to judge?
