Yoko Ono: The Six-Pack Q&A

9/6/07, 6:32 pm EST

Rolling Stone asked artist/musician/legend Yoko Ono six questions. She gushed about John and Sean Lennon, announced she has no intentions to retire and told us the real reason the former Beatle’s solo catalog made it to iTunes.

What’s the most rock star thing about you?
The fact that I am still young and active — which is what rock stars are supposed to be.

Who’s the coolest person you’ve ever met?
The coolest person, well of course I think of John. Predictable — you don’t want an answer like that, do you? But I think it is John. When he first came into the gallery, that was the first time I met him. He was very cool and elegant, everything you want from a guy.

What’s on your current playlist?
I’m very sorry to say this because you’ll think that I’m bragging, but [Sean Lennon’s] Friendly Fire is an incredible album. The song that’s called “Tomorrow,” oh God it makes me cry each time I hear it. I’m a very proud person as a mother and I would not say something like that unless it’s real, but he is really amazing. And it drives me to tears which is amazing. I’m not telling him too much about it. I don’t see him so much — he’s on tour.

What was your favorite album when you were fourteen?
I think I was still struggling with where to stay and what to eat [at that age]. Favorite bands … well you know, in those days I was into classical music, Chopin.

When will you know it’s time to retire?
The word retirement is not in my dictionary.

What was your part in getting the John Lennon solo catalog onto iTunes?
I’m the whole part actually. Isn’t it great? Everybody’s getting to feel good about it. John always liked doing something new.

A strong charactered woman who found her equal in John Lennon, and everybody hates her. Makes no sense.

I refuse to purchase and read publications and journals which were not granted certain “permissions”. That much I respect. The average consumer does not care enough to place themselves in somebody else’s shoes.

Yoko is business, business, business…Yes she publish John’s legacy…but is always the same thing. Since Lennon Legend, I told myself that I would not buy anything else that would come to the market, I don’t want to help Yoko in her pursuit of money…
From Venezuela!!

Why can’t anybody get it?
If she was good enough for John (who adored her), she should be good enough for the likes of us.
Who are we to question his choices?
Hasn’t he taught you anything?

I am so sick of hearing this woman play the “merry widow”! she is a fraud and manipulating jerk!
“Miss Enviromental Activist” won’t buy a hybrid car because “they are not as comfortable as a Bentley”. That says it all!

senseless arguments on blogs are a complete useless, mindless, unproductive waste of talent and time.
the only thing i learned is that there are a lot of nutcases and arrogant idiots who post on these blogs.

oops i meant seems* in my last post……yoko am i right that john wouldve turned 67 this year on rocktober 9, sean’s 32nd birthday as well ? which means i think that you are somewhere around 74 and i must say that, other than my 90 year old dad, you’re the sharpest senior citizen of the USA…..

may the grief you experienced in 1980 be replaced by joy and happiness til the day you rejoin john in the sky…..

That’s absolutely correct!

In some countries, the word “Yoko” refers to a person that shits through the mouth everytime they try to sing.

The Phantom | 9/7/2007, 1:38 pm EST

dear “why,” i think i know what you’re trying to say, but take another try at it, dude.
Your pal,
The Phantom

why are they talking to her | 9/7/2007, 1:33 pm EST

she had him killed the guy shot john but not her

The Phantom | 9/7/2007, 12:21 pm EST

Yoko’s wonderful? You people are
fuckin’ nuts!

The Phantom | 9/7/2007, 12:17 pm EST

When the Beatles were recording Abbey Road. John insisted Yoko have her own microphone so she could make “suggestions” whenever the spirit moved her. The same with Let It Be. McCartney and Harrison had an argument, so George walked out for a minute, Yoko instantly took George’s chair and attempted to sing along. Don’t praise this woman. First, she destroyed the Beatles, and then she destroyed John Lennon. All she’s done since then is make shitty records and lived off of John’s money.

MCLEARY | 9/7/2007, 11:59 am EST

yoko has survived yet it weems so long ago that john lennon was still on this planet…..ironic that yoko’s only appearance on a Beatles’ song was “Hey Bungalow Bill” …..what did you kill…..
keep goin yoko cuz john is smiling down on you….

Kevin Patrick Cronin | 9/7/2007, 11:09 am EST

I believe that Yoko should replace Robert Plant in the upcoming Led Zeppelin reunion. Plant can’t hold the high notes any more but Yoko can.

Daniele Erville | 9/7/2007, 1:00 am EST

Love you Yoko! Thanks for doing what you do, as well as putting John’s work out there in all the ways you have. You’re the coolest!
PS just finished reading (and listening to the CD included in) “Lennonlegend: an illustrated life of John Lennon”…
