Watch Rolling Stone’s Peter Travers talk about the biggest releases coming out in the “freaky-deaky fall” of 2007 as Hollywood tosses aside its summer Nanny Diaries for serious, Oscar-contending work like the Coen brothers’ No Country for Old Men starring Tommy Lee Jones and Javier Bardem and American Gangster, featuring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. Don’t miss Travers’ take on the rest of the bruality-themed fall lineup, which includes everything from David Cronenberg’s gritty Eastern Promises to the six films focusing on Iraq or Afghanistan (like The Kingdom and Lions for Lambs starring Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep) to the season’s bigtime comedies (Steve Carell in Dan in Real Life and Noah Baumbach’s Margo at the Wedding starring Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Jason Leigh) to musicals (Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s bloody Sweeney Todd, the Todd Haynes’ Bob Dylan film I’m Not There). And to read Rolling Stone’s Fall Movie Preview — which includes a first look at Wes Anderson’s The Darjeeling Limited and George Clooney’s Michael Clayton, among many more films — click here.

Peter rocks! Always thoughtful reviews. Why no review of The Brave One with Jodie Foster? And Across the Universe?

This fall season I will be attending the movies at the cineplex a lot more often than I have so far this year. Movies like American Gangster can’t wait to come out on DVD for me to see!

Normally Peter is pretty good at calling out the good flicks, but am I the only one that thought Knocked UP was a piece of shit? Four stars??? No fucking way!!

He never says he wont spoil who the six actors are that play Dylan in I’m Not There, it’s pretty well known anyways. He says he won’t spoil the surprise…that could mean anything

Peter: This was great and very informative. I’m particularly excited about American Gangster. Thanks.

Remember when movies were entertainment and we didn’t have to listen to Peter give his opinion.

All you Peter haters, shut up. Go watch Tango & Cash or something.

“The Kingdom” is about Saudi Arabia, you idiot.

Rule of thumb: if Travers likes it, it sucks ass.
Take that bank 100% of the time.
He makes Richard Roeper look like a genius.

Umm, Peter, if you going to say I’m not going to spoil who are the six actors playing Bob Dylan in “I’m Not There”. Don’t list 2/3 of the actors who are playing him. Otherwise, I want to thank you for getting me excited for the fall season. This summer was really disappointing to me. I hope you are right about the Coen Brothers movie. They have been in a slump for the past couple of movies. So, I am hoping this will be the one to turn things around for them.
