Mosh-Pit Mayhem at New York Projekt Revolution Stop Sends Fans to Hospital

8/30/07, 2:53 pm EST

While some folks were getting all riled up by Ted Nugent’s appearance at the South Dakota State Fair this coming weekend, the New York State Fair was erupting in politics-free mayhem. Speaking of the Projekt Revolution tour (which we have been for the past few days, actually), more than thirty concert-goers suffered mosh-pit injuries at the festival’s stop at the fair in Syracuse on Tuesday night, with at least ten taken to the hospital. After the sold-out concert, headlined by Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance and Taking Back Sunday, two people were admitted for broken arms and one for a broken leg. Thirteen-year-old Stephennie Nichols was hospitalized after a “big guy” who was crowd-surfing kicked her in the head. The head of the fair infirmary, David Corey, said the high number of injuries during the two-stage festival was out of the ordinary. “Traditionally, we have a few people to see, but this is unusual,” he told the Associated Press. “It was pandemonium; lots of loud music and bodies slamming around.” Projekt Revolution marked the first all-day music event at the Fair since 1994, and possibly the most ironic in the event’s history: Tuesday was Seniors Day, which typically keeps the medical staff hopping with non-mosh-pit-related emergencies.

You know, if clubs didn’t treat their guests like cattle with open wallets this sort of stuff might not happen.

There’s only a handful of people that like mosh pits, and unfortunately they ruin the experience for many…

I say ban ‘em.

Ban American Idol instead.

Yeah I was at the show, and it wasn’t even half that bad. Seriously. The worst thing was a guy tried to get on stage and was taken out by the state police. One guy fell on his head while moshing, but he got up anyway. So basically, the paper just made it sound more out of control than it was.

why the hell would you ban a mosh?
thats half the reason you go

The reason there was injuries was because there was little girls who liuke my chemical romance there.
