Courtney Love Says She Tried to Help Suicidal Owen Wilson, Beyoncé and Shakira Nab Latin Grammy Nom, Bob Dylan Footage Coming to BBC

8/29/07, 2:14 pm EST

  • Lil Wayne has been hit with a million-dollar lawsuit following an October 2006 incident at a Morgan State University concert. Tyrique Layne alleges that when Wayne and his posse started throwing money into the crowd — a.k.a. “made it rain” — Layne was trampled in the mini-riot, causing her to have all sorts of pain and mental fatigue.
  • Beyoncé and Shakira can add a new nomination to the handful of VMA nods “Beautiful Liar” received; the song is also up for a Latin Grammy.
  • Following the departure of his lead attorney Bruce Cutler, Phil Spector has added San Francisco lawyer Dennis Riordan to his legal team. Riordan, who specializes in jury instructions leading up to closing arguments, will oversee that aspect of the case today in court.
  • The BBC will screen more than eighty minutes of unseen Bob Dylan footage in the new documentary The Other Side of The Mirror – Dylan At Newport. The doc will feature Dylan performances from three Newport (R.I.) Folk Festivals, from ’63 to ’65. Over the course of the film, audiences will see Dylan shift from his folk roots to the electric guitar.

i think that people are stupid if they are suicidal and they need serious attention-to help. I do like the fact that Courtney thinks she can help people but she cant help everyone and Beyonce and Shakira ARE NOT SUICIDAL. get your facts right!!!!!

John,

your rant on anti-depressants is ridiculous. you should keep your mouth shut until you know what you are talking about. The antidepressants had nothing to do with him attempting sucide. He obviously had some deep emotional issues and problems that cannot always be dealt with by covering up the problems with a drug. I am not advocating anti-dp use but to suggest that they were the cause is ridiculous.

Courtney had nothing to do with Kurts death.I watched and read so much on them about it,You should really know all the facts before you slander someone,Kurt had some real problems before he even knew her.I realize some people choose not to like her for what ever reasons, but seriously she had nothing to do with his death.

thank you kevin trudeau! well, i guess you discount the millions of people who DON’T commit suicide because of anti depressants. someone should check the “black box” in your brain to see if there’s any useful data on it.

Owen Wilson did not try to kill him-self. The antidepressant poisones he was taking tried to kill him. Fortunately he survived. Antidepressants have a “black box label” warning. A “black box” warning is the most severe warning that the FDA requires on dangerous drugs. The “black box” warning for antidepressants is about the fact that taking them may cause you to kill your-self. That’s right!. Taking antidepressants greatly increases your chance of committing suicide. whether you have ever had suicidal thoughts before, or not. Case in point! Owen Wilson

Many of these antidepressant poisones are baned in other developed countries like England.

Bottom line. Owen Wilson, and his family need to understand that he is suffering from the toxic effects of antidepressant poisons. And he needs to wean off those poisons very slowly over a period of 6-8 weeks or longer. Very gradually reducing his dosage until he is off those poisons. While he is weaning off those poisons. He may have to backup on reducing his dose for 3 or 4 weeks. Or just hold at a set dose for 3-4 weeks before continuing to wean off the drug.

Many doctors will tell you that you don’t need to wean slowly off of antidepressants. They are lier’s. At best. Look up “antidepressant discontinuation syndrome”. Just a fancy name for drug withdrawal.

See, One of the MANY bad things that antidepressants do is turn off the self-control centers of the brain. Like alcohol. But without the obvious impairment you see with alcohol. So if a person on antidepressants gets very upset emotionally. And thinks about injuring them-self. They will act on it.

When in fact. If they were not on those antidepressant poisons. They would never, ever act on a thought to hurt them-self. The toxic effect of antidepressants CAUSES people to have suicidal thoughts, hallucination’s, and nightmares. That they would not have if they were not taking antidepressants. This is one of the ways the brain reacts when you poison it. Just ask any heavy alcohol drinker.

Depression can be a very serious condition that should be treated. But I don’t think that popping antidepressants is the way to do it. It’s a bigger. More complex issue than can be solved, and cured with just daily pills. I would only use antidepressants in the most extreme. And severe case. And then only after all other known depression cures had been tried first.

Like elimination or reduction of drugs known to cause depression. Like alcohol. And elimination, or treatment of any physical medical conditions that can cause depression like diabetes. Assuring healthy nutrition. Exercise, and rest. And a healthy life style. Stress reduction. And learning, and developing good coping skills. And positive conflict resolution skills. Light, or photo therapy to synchronize your internal circadian rhythms clock.

And after all that. If medication was still needed. I would try some of the German preparations of St Johns Wart (Hypericum). Which has shown to be just as effective as antidepressants. But much safer. As has daily exercise.

Last but not least finding and making a positive peace with your human mortality. And the limits of corporeal existence.

I remember the little speech Owen Wilson had in the movie Armageddon with Bruce Willis. When Owen talked about the stars, and the universe. I realized he was not just acting. But had really thought about such things. Owen Wilson is a sensitive, thoughtful, emotionally intense man. This is a gift. Not a curse. But a person like Owen is the absolute highest risk individual to put on antidepressants. Or any substance that takes away to much of their self-control. I would not do it.

It was the side effects of the antidepressants mixed with emotional upset that made him hurt him-self. But he will get over this.

I wish him all the best

Coogan is notorious - wait beyond far far beyond notorious over here ( in UK) for his massive consumptions of drugs and hookers , s and m golden ( cough) type activities, i think if Court knew about this and Owenfrom what Ive read , likes a good orgy up at the Playboy manse , thats one thing, ( this is all from pretty legitmate soutces) but i think the MOMENT Hudson stepped off that plane in Oz to do yet anothr crap romcom with Matt Mc. Coogans desperation to get in with the guy turned him onto a whole sick new world, he may not be stable , but shes ( allegedly) been sober 3 years and im with CLove on this one, sorry- Google the guy= minus Courts name- your gonna find hooker after hooker- not “fun romps” either but sick sick shit.

i left college for winter break in 1976. i walked into a dark dive of a place on the bowery where televison
& talking heads were sharing a bill. the music was unlike anything i had ever heard before & my life was forever, deeply, soulfully changed. i dropped out of college & began to work at CBGB’s…the bar, the door, helping the sound guys, whatever… anything to do to stay there & listen to the music…be there for all the magic!
hilly gave me a chance ( he must have figured out that i wasn’t going to leave )& hired me
to road manage his great band THE SHIRTS.
hilly was many things you all know, the music visionary, the entrepreneur, the manager, etc…and he was also my friend & i will miss him.
rest in peace with music or silence
i love you hilly.
