Britney Spears Gets Another New Single, Joy Division Biopic Soundtrack Revealed, Elton John Tribute to Feature Joss Stone, Roger McGuinn

8/29/07, 9:35 am EST

  • News of a killer Britney Spears single (that is thankfully not this number) is making the rounds. The track is called “Gimme More,” and is produced by Nate “Danjahandz” Hills (of Timbaland and Justin Timberlake fame). Sources tell EW “Gimme More” is an uptempo dance single that will introduce a “whole new sound” for Spears. However the pop star will be making her comeback without former manager Larry Rudolph, who split from Spears in April and is currently hiding to avoid being subpoenaed in her custody battle with ex Kevin Federline. Rudolph released a statement yesterday stating his “loyalty will always stay strong with Britney” but until he is found he is “trying to avoid being brought into this mess” and wishes Spears the best.
  • MySpace has announced their first nationwide concert tour, co-headlined by emo acts Hellogoodbye and Say Anything. The trek will begin October 16th in Seattle and conclude Thanksgiving weekend in Las Vegas, with complete dates being announced soon. MySpace members will have exclusive access to an allotment of presale tickets, as well as blogs, photos and more from the bands on tour.
  • More property that once belonged to boy-band mogul Lou Pearlman is being auctioned off nearly three months after a slew of personal items were sold to the highest bidders. Recently sold items include a Cadillac Escalade golf cart ($10,340) and an Anakin Skywalker statue ($1,100). All money is going towards paying back the thousand or so investors who lost money when Pearlman disappeared in January.

Control soundtrack tracklist:

Will the MySpace tour be called “The Whineyboy Tour”? It’ll give suburban emo listeners more opportunities to take pictures of themselves looking depressed and angry for their MySpace profiles.

Nikkidoo, do you know who either of those bands are? I think they’re kinda mislabeled as “emo”

1. It’s not nice to say things about suicide.
2. Yes Brits boobs do change size, but so did her ass, and she grew another chin. It happens to the best of us!
3. Don’t even get me started about Myspace. Friends don’t let friends join Myspace.
4.The emo thing…. funny as always!
5. If we ignore Scott maybe he will go away too! You can’t ignore her dumd ass, shes every place you look!

To all those who are unfamiliar with both The Killers and Joy Division, one, Joy Division with its fatalistically gifted and genius front man the late and great Ian Curtis was never intended to be thrown in the mix and labeled as an “EMO” band, whatever that means. Listen to songs such as “Love Will Tear Us Apart”, “The Eternal”, “Shadowplay”,”Atmosphere”, “Dead Souls”, “Disorder” and my favorite, “Day of the Lords”. He sang about what he experienced and envisioned, sadly and apocalyptically, reflecting in real life the lyrics to his songs. Secondly, The Killers are the American version of Joy Division, but without the “the end of the world, everything is going to hell in a handbasket” absolute dour situation mindset. I do not consider the Killers an EMO band.
