The Phil Spector Trial: We Watch Court TV So You Don’t Have To

8/23/07, 9:22 am EST

WHAT HAPPENED YESTERDAY?
The prosecution called their final rebuttal witness to the stand, Dr. John Andrews, a forensic neuropathologist, who helped refute Dr. Michael Baden’s powerful testimony the jury heard last week. Baden testified that Lana Clarkson’s spine was not completely severed after coming in contact with the bullet that ended her life, making it possible for her to breathe blood onto Phil Spector. Andrews, more of a specialist on the subject than Baden, testified that even if Clarkson’s spine wasn’t completely transected, it was attached by mere fibers, which was not enough of a connection to allow involuntary motor skills (though Andrews involuntarily made the court giggle when he said contractions of the sphincter were still possible). The term “spinal shock” was banded about, which reinforced the impossibility of Baden’s hypothesis. Andrews also combated against the “chicken without a head” theory by stating poultry is lower on the evolutionary scale, and thus an anomaly to the rule.

IS THIS GOOD OR BAD FOR SPECTOR?
Possibly bad. Baden’s testimony was the golden ticket to reasonable doubt for Spector, and any theories to the contrary can only help sway the jury back to the prosecution’s side.

MEANWHILE, BEFORE COURT WAS IN SESSION:
The defense outlined the potential witnesses for their own rebuttal case. Clarkson’s “best friends” Punkin Pie and Jennifer Hayes-Riedl will return, as will a third “buddy,” to weigh back in on the Michael Bay incident. Other witnesses will include more forensic experts to reinforce the Baden testimony, as well as a paramedic who treated Clarkson for a broken wrist a year before her death.

Guy looks like a child of Satan to me. It’s kind of creepy. Kinda creeps the hell out of me to tell you the truth.

Stephen | 8/23/2007, 10:25 am EST

The guy has been getting drunk and stoned and pulling guns on people for decades–he pulled a gun on John Lennon for Christ sake. It’s a miracle that Spector did not kill anyone before now.

That said, I am thinking involuntary manslaughter, not murder, although Clarkson is sounding kinda wacko also.

Can you imagine being so desperate as to go home with Spector at the end of an evening? I mean maybe at some point at Specter’s place Clarkson realized that this was rock bottom for sure and did blow her brains out. Knowing Spector he probably berated her and drover her to it.

Anyone who would forge “you made it kid!” letters from TV producers and put them in a scrapbook is beyond desperate. So who knows what really happened. And Spector is so totally bizarre who knows what the jury will do with that.

One thing for sure: No 151 Rum in the big house.

the jury | 8/30/2007, 5:05 pm EST

Guilty of murder in the second degree x 12

Davey | 9/11/2007, 12:19 am EST

Christ, how can anyone with even a scintilla of common sense think this creep is anything but guilty? The little creep has a long history of threatening and waving guns at women who spurn him and he staggers out of his mansion on the night of the murder with a smoking gun in his hand and tells his driver “I think I just killed somebody.” HELLO!!! Anybody home? This malignant little bastard is goin’ down for 2nd degree murder, and good riddance.

Dave | 9/14/2007, 3:34 pm EST

1. Right after Clarksons death Spector told his driver, “I think I killed somebody”. This indicates a possible accident but one in which he is liable for.
2. He didn’t call 911, his driver did. His actions at the time are very important in determining innocence or guilt.
3. He has a history of pulling guns on women. Have to question his mental stability.
4. Why would Clarkson go to Spectors house to commit suicide? At face value this doesn’t make sense.
5. Why was there blood splatter on his shirt?
6. Why was the gun wiped clean of fingerprints? Strongly indicates a coverup.

Conclusion: Guilty

Sadly, as talented as he is, the man is stone guilty. He pulled pistols on both Lennon & the Ramones;the record speaks for itself.Forensics showed that her teeth were shattered in a way that could never have been self-inflicted.Madness,alcohol & firearms do not a pleasant brew make.

I watched the entire first trial. I was fascinated with Phil Spector. Hes an odd duck, who is so guilty of murder. I hope he doesnt walk free again.

jlee | 3/12/2009, 11:49 am EST

He wanted sex, she wanted back into acting. He said
gimme and you’ll get it. She said no and got it!

bert vissers | 5/30/2009, 4:55 pm EST

what a lot of narrow minded reactions from Religious people from the US (thank no god I live in Holland)
only based on the fact that Phil Spector is not like they are,:working, going to church and fck their wife once a month.
When somebody says:Guy looks like a child of Satan to me, that’s the kind of people you should be afraid of..
Phil spector had no change winning this case, because the verdict is not based on the evidence but on the bad image he had on the jury.
Religion scks!
