Preview “Ordinary People” from Neil Young’s Upcoming “Chrome Dreams II”

8/21/07, 11:59 am EST

One of the tracks on Neil Young’s forthcoming Chrome Dreams II is said to be “Ordinary People,” a song that Young’s been sitting on for nearly twenty years. He played the epic track a bunch of times in 1988 with the Bluenotes. Check out this YouTube clip of him performing it at the Lakeside Ampitheater in Darien Lake, New York on September 18, 1988. The song is so long it’s divided in two halves.

That good old boy (neil young) had
it…has it…and will have it for
all of us to enjoy to the end of
time. He’s a mean, lean, music
machine.

He is the man!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does it get any better than this? Neil is a Legend in our time. History books will write of him.

Neil could be singing about my Dublin city – right here and right now – hits it right on the nail – the way it is. A fantastic song.

“That guy just keeps singin’!
Can somebody shut him up?
I don’t know for the life of me
where he comes up with that stuff.”

Totally brilliant

Dr Jimmy | 8/25/2007, 4:04 pm EST

this is the most awesome song ever….better than free bird. I wish however he’d return to the TRANS days and digitize his voice…that was awesome.

Will Neil young ever slow down??

This song sounds so amazing, and it feels like a return to his ealry 70s stuff. Brilliant, and the album is released on my birthday! life is good!!

Steven James | 9/11/2007, 12:20 pm EST

God Bless Neil Young. Long may you run! I hope you out live me anyway. Can’t wait for the new album. Please come to Dallas!

bernard shakey | 9/11/2007, 9:13 pm EST

It’s a cool song, but the better one by far from that tour was the sublime Crime in the City, the full version. Best Neil song ever.

Come on Neil, you know you want to play it on the new tour.

Chris den Pieper | 9/16/2007, 2:32 pm EST

Geweldig, fantastisch, Great!
We are lucky to live in the time Neil lives. He’s definitely part of my life: What a Killer!
Hope he comes to Holland again soon!

AnonymousWall | 9/21/2007, 1:27 pm EST

Actually, for the record, the show was in Toronto on August 19, 1988.

mikelowna | 9/22/2007, 1:29 pm EST

Is THIS Neil’s greatest? I dunno man; he’s got a couple of songs you know. But it’s right up there. Be interesting to see a top
song survey, as sure would be a great mix….Keep Rockin Neil!!

eva | 9/26/2007, 6:33 pm EST

NEIL YOUNG is a god
much like Leonard Cohen

Tomtrumpet | 10/18/2007, 7:28 pm EST

Ordinary People is one of Neils greatest songs. The late great Steve Otis Lawrence plays his ass off on keyboards and tenor sax and thats whats its all about. We leave our tracks in the sound..

Gear up for grub with a tripleheader of pigskin, including a meeting of brothers in Dallas. Everybody knows it’s been a rough year for her, but find out who else had issues
