Rock List: Twenty Songs That Make You Want To Commit Violent Acts

8/20/07, 5:33 pm EST

Rock Daily’s Weekend Rock List asked everyone to spend the past few days pondering songs you once really enjoyed, then tolerated and now make you want to hurt people. We combined your suggestions — which hopefully haven’t resulted in any actual personal-injury lawsuits — with ours and came up with this list of the top twenty songs that make you want to get violent:

1. “You’re Beautiful,” James Blunt
2. “My Humps,” Black Eyed Peas
3. “All Star,” Smash Mouth
4. “Don’t Worry Be Happy,” Bobby McFerrin
5. “YMCA,” Village People
6. “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” Deep Blue Something
7. “With Arms Wide Open,” Creed
8. “I Will Walk 500 Miles,” The Proclaimers
9. “Zombie,” Cranberries
10. “Your Body Is a Wonderland,” John Mayer
11. “Hey Ya,” OutKast
12. “Torn,” Natalie Imbruglia
13. “Yellow,” Coldplay
14. “Truly, Madly, Deeply,” Savage Garden
15. “Wannabe,” Spice Girls
16. “Hot In Herre,” Nelly

I would like to add Disney’s It’s a Small Small World. I was ready to be committed after going on that ride with my 7 year old.

Since my pick for most annoying song made this list, I guess I shouldn´t complain…but this weekends rock list-topic was extremely lame, and recycled from a few weeks back. So next weekend; why not make the topic of the list: “Top twenty Best Rock Lists that we want to see in RS”. I´m sure you´d get a lot better suggestions from the readers than you´re currently getting from the staff…free of charge too!

You´re beautiful is a perfect #1 spot
I like it the few first times that i heard it but then It was so overplayed on the radio and t.v,that now if i hear Blunt´s silly voice just one more time I go freakin´crazy.

Yo Yo Yo Yo Yo | 8/21/2007, 12:04 am EST

Yo yo yo yo yo…

Hey Ya, boy!

One last thing before I pass out (go to bed). Every song on this list makes me want to go back in time to 1993-95 and bomb the world. I just re-read the list and I’m forcing myself to go to sleep or I will “HULK SMASH”. Play Deep Blue Something or The Spin Doctors in Iraq, and our problems are fucking over!!!

“AS” a story of hope. Sorry I’ve been drinking again.

Also…the theme from “Friends”, and “Hope You Had The Time Of Your Life”, Green Day. I don’t even know if that’s the title. I just know when I hear it; I want to kill.

Why is it now so goddamned hard to find the rock list? Another flaming hoop to go through before you dive into the pool of futility. “Right Here Right Now”, by Jesus Jones makes me long for the book of Revelations of a story of hope.

dr. bukowski | 8/20/2007, 7:06 pm EST

I demand a recount! Meat Loaf didn’t place? Did you people work for Bush/Cheney in 2000?

RuPaul | 8/20/2007, 7:02 pm EST

Hey Ya is a great song! Overplayed to deathz, but still great.

nathan | 8/20/2007, 6:46 pm EST

“One Thing” by Finger Eleven. It makes me want to commit unspeakable acts against whoever wrote it.

eeeek | 8/20/2007, 6:41 pm EST

I cringed as I read off each and every one of those songs, with the exception of maybe 3 I don’t know. Well done.

Now I’m off to stab somebody.

awww | 8/20/2007, 6:38 pm EST

but I sorta like ‘hey ya’…

I guess I can see how it would justify homicide if played over and over though.
