Former Skid Row frontman, Gilmore Girls star and Damnocracy singer Sebastian Bach has a new solo album, Angel Down, out November 20th. In an interview with Blabbermouth, Bach reveals that after collaborating with his pal Axl Rose for a track on the forever forthcoming Chinese Democracy, Bach invited Axl to sing on Angel Down, never expecting he’d accept. “I texted Axl,” Bach recalls. “I go, ‘Hey, dude, when are you gonna come and sing on my record?’ I was just joking. I didn’t think he would do that. But he never ceases to amaze me. And his response was, ‘When? Where? Where is the studio? What time do you want me there?’ I was, like, ‘You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me.’ I go, ‘Pinch me, I’m dreaming.’”
Rose sings on two songs on Angel Down, one of which is called “(Love Is) a Bitchslap,” and the other may or may not be a cover of Aerosmith’s “Back in the Saddle” (the cover will appears on the record, but Bach refused to confirm whether Axl contributes to it). Bach raved about Rose’s performance, describing the GN’R frontman’s voice as razor sharp and likening the collaboration to Bob Dylan’s work with Johnny Cash.
“I have this one Bob Dylan record called Nashville Skyline where Johnny Cash sings a lot on the record with Bob Dylan,” Bach said. “It’s a really good album and it’s an amazing thing. Me and Axl going back and forth, and he takes a line and I then I take a line and then we do harmonies, it’s really cool to hear. … And I am the luckiest guy in the world, for him to come and put his voice on my record.”
