Van Halen Reunion Tour Dates Announced: “This Is Like a Brotherhood Like It Never Was Before”

8/13/07, 2:49 pm EST

(Click here for photos of David Lee Roth, Eddie Van Halen, Alex Van Halen and Wolfgang Van Halen at today’s press conference.)

One of rock and roll’s longest lasting feuds came to an end today as Eddie Van Halen and David Lee Roth took the stage at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles, warmly embraced each other and announced the details of the long-rumored Van Halen reunion tour. Alex Van Halen and the group’s new bass player Wolfgang Van Halen (Ed’s sixteen-year-old son) were also on hand to announce the outing, which kicks off September 27th in Charlotte, North Carolina and runs through December 11th in Calgary, Alberta. More dates are expected to be forthcoming.

Fans and journalists hoping for Dave and Ed to get into some sort of tussle left disappointed. The two were all smiles throughout the fifteen-minute press conference. “We’re getting along better than we ever have before,” Ed said. Why was founding bassist Michael Anthony given the boot? “Michael Anthony is part of this band’s history,” Roth said. “This band has many alumni. I am one of them.” New bassist Wolfie — looking at tad uncomfortable under the media glare — said he’s a big fan of AC/DC, Tool and the White Stripes. “I can describe Wolfie in two words,” Alex said. “DNA.”

The group has been rehearing steadily for the past four months. When asked about the setlist Roth said, “We decided to do everything you’d expect, but make it high speed, low drag. Everything that got me fired from radio.” The group nearly went out this summer, but decided to postpone it so Ed could head to rehab. “None of us wanted to give you less than our best,” Eddie said. “We are at our best.” Added Roth, “This is not like the Police. The idea is that this will go on and on and on. This is like a brotherhood like it never was before.” Tickets go on sale this Saturday.

Michael | 8/13/2007, 3:00 pm EST

Fuck yes.

Steve | 8/13/2007, 3:06 pm EST

No Dave, it’s not like the Police. The Police actually reunited with their full lineup, not just part of it.

Hutch | 8/13/2007, 3:06 pm EST

I dont see Dallas guys!

H | 8/13/2007, 3:08 pm EST

no CT date? Even the Police came to CT

Dr. B | 8/13/2007, 3:08 pm EST

This is really gonna suck.

Retrospectacle | 8/13/2007, 3:09 pm EST

Open with two shows in NC and then just bitch-slap Atlanta? Who’s running the show over there, Wolfie?

Lily | 8/13/2007, 3:10 pm EST

See you in Toronto – Can’t wait !!!

Hutch | 8/13/2007, 3:11 pm EST

If I remember correctly, its a 50 date tour or so, so hopefully Texas and Ct dates will show up soon…

TPG | 8/13/2007, 3:11 pm EST

Dying to see the photos from this press conference. Curious how Diamond Dave and Eddie look.

My guess? Probably like the two homeless guys I stepped over on my way to work.

where's mikey | 8/13/2007, 3:12 pm EST

we should all wear the “WHere is Michael Anthony?” t shirts at cafepress.com/whereismikey

Big Balls | 8/13/2007, 3:13 pm EST

They all looked great and Dave is still quick with the comebacks.
Can’t wait to see this new band.

NunPuncher | 8/13/2007, 3:14 pm EST

” We Are at Our Best ” , – Which they are not – translates into ” We Will Rape You on Tickets “

Scott P | 8/13/2007, 3:14 pm EST

Sad, very sad. But loads of people will still see it anyways.

VH5150 | 8/13/2007, 3:14 pm EST

This is just the 1st leg of the tour. There will be more dates announced.

Anonymous | 8/13/2007, 3:16 pm EST

pity can’t be done with Mike, would have made all the difference, also pity no England dates or intentions announced.

Pork Fried Rice | 8/13/2007, 3:16 pm EST

Hhmmmm….according to DLR, “this is like a brotherhood like it never was before.” And Eddie says, “None of us want to give you less than our best.” Oh yeah? Is that why Michael Anthony won’t be playing with band?

They haven’t even started the tour yet and they’re already bullshitting the public and making it sound better than it’s going to be.

Wolfie lover | 8/13/2007, 3:17 pm EST

Check out the band Wolfie is bringing on tour for the first slot…sound cool but are virtually unknown http://www.myspace.com/sixthroot

me | 8/13/2007, 3:18 pm EST

is there going to be any new music?

Dis Bigga Jigga | 8/13/2007, 3:18 pm EST

just nutted in Valerie B’s eye, get you some Eddie.

Aaron | 8/13/2007, 3:19 pm EST

BRING MIKE BACK!

Sam Venison | 8/13/2007, 3:19 pm EST

How did this sixth root band get on as the opener? That is virtually a wet dream as an unknown band…

LAN | 8/13/2007, 3:20 pm EST

Outstanding News!!!

drumzill | 8/13/2007, 3:20 pm EST

this is the greatest day ever!

Lori | 8/13/2007, 3:21 pm EST

What about Syracuse/Buffalo, Albany or Rochester? Nothing anywhere near us? I have been waiting for this concert and now can’t even go???

EmpyreLounge | 8/13/2007, 3:21 pm EST

Thats assuming this sixth root thing is legit and not a bad member using the big news to get people to their MySpace page

Anonymous | 8/13/2007, 3:25 pm EST

I see Dave’s already pissing Ed off with his “this is going to go on and on” comment. Expect a meltdown.

Vicky H. | 8/13/2007, 3:27 pm EST

I heard on a Boston radio station that New England band Sixth root is opening for part of the tour. Unless the rumor mill has spread that far I think it is legit to say it is true…

gooseynate | 8/13/2007, 3:30 pm EST

WHAT NO WHERE NEAR ATL!!!!

Me Wise Me | 8/13/2007, 3:30 pm EST

Lori – think TORONTO (or move!)

nathan | 8/13/2007, 3:31 pm EST

Finally, I can hear Hot For Teacher live!!

PAUL- | 8/13/2007, 3:31 pm EST

PLEASE HOW ABOUT A SHOW IN DETROIT LIKE THE JOE NOT JUST THE PLACE THINK ABOUT THAT??

Richard | 8/13/2007, 3:32 pm EST

I watched this press conference and there was an uncomfortable, but at times playful tension up there.

Dave was Dave, and even when the questions weren’t directed at him, he would interject with his customary hyperbole and one liners.

Eddie looked uncomfortable for much of it, and didn’t speak as much as Dave (I mean, who can?). He still looked rather frail to be honest.

Wolfgang, despite the expected hype from the three remaining members, seemed unsure of himself, despite hiding behind his shades. He looked eerily out of place.

They promised the expected “Greatest Hits” set and say that the band will continue forward from this point.

At which point, I knew that this is simply destined to end badly for all.

This “reunion” is about as sincere as a Michael Vick apology.

Bill | 8/13/2007, 3:33 pm EST

official sites just been updated
http://www.van-halen.com
to urs gna be sick

Dr. B | 8/13/2007, 3:33 pm EST

Wise up, people…if this isn’t another publicity stunt, it’s sure to be an abortion in terms of music. Dave has sucked for the last 15+ years, and Eddie’s inclusion of his son instead of Mike Anthony shows that it’s not about reuniting, it’s about making a buck. Embarrassing, and I loved old school VH.

Ta Ta Toothy | 8/13/2007, 3:34 pm EST

I heard Zac Efron and the High School Musical kids are going to open up for Van Halen. Damn this is sounding better and better each minute!

G-Money | 8/13/2007, 3:35 pm EST

That’s the easiest instrument to play, bass guitar that is, if anything could be substituted, it’s Michael Anthony, he’s been free-riding for quite some time with the Van Halen talent. Let’s get the show on the road before they break up again! Where’s my ticket, oh yeah!

What? | 8/13/2007, 3:37 pm EST

Dude, look at that guy’s chest hair. Damn.

NATEDOG | 8/13/2007, 3:39 pm EST

At least Minneapolis is on there!

Justin | 8/13/2007, 3:44 pm EST

“Critique us harshly… We’re at the top of our game,” says DLR. Awesome! I’m too young to have seen VH in the ’80s — thus I can’t wait to see the show this fall!!!

I’ve been smiling all day just thinking about it. And like the guy at the press conference suggested, I hope that they play Me Wise Magic.

Florida | 8/13/2007, 3:45 pm EST

Miami or F Lauderdale ???

Brazil | 8/13/2007, 3:46 pm EST

Don’t forget Brazil Eddie ?

JoJo | 8/13/2007, 3:46 pm EST

Dave said this wasn’t a reunion tour, they were all looking to the future not the pasture. He said MA was part of the bands history, but this is the future. He also said this is just the beginning and they were gonna make new music and stuff. They all looked very good and happy.

Michael Anthony | 8/13/2007, 3:48 pm EST

Fuck this reunion!
If I aint there, it aint Van Halen.
I have nothing against Wolfie, but he hasn’t even had sex with someone other than himself yet!
And he’s gonna go on tour?
Can he play the bass?
I don’t know…does Clay Aiken like girls?
Come check out my new band “Mullet Mayhem”.
We are playing at the Hooters in Van Nuys on August 18th.

Rock Snob Hater | 8/13/2007, 3:49 pm EST

All of you cynical nay-sayers can sit on your prissy butts and wait for your precious Bob Dylan or your overrated Neil Young to grumble and wheeze out a new album of cruddy tunes that you & David Fricke can cream over…the rest of us will enjoy the return of a REAL rock and roll show in the form of VH!!!

Kimberly | 8/13/2007, 3:50 pm EST

Hey! Where’s the pics and video guys. Hurry up.

Florida | 8/13/2007, 3:50 pm EST

Miami….

Hector | 8/13/2007, 3:50 pm EST

Why did Eddie axe Michael Anthony? Or did M.A. quit? My perception was that he was the nicest of the bunch at that everyone liked him. What a shame.

Dis Bigga Jigga | 8/13/2007, 3:50 pm EST

Just tagged Valerie B’s ass in Eddie’s honor. What a whore!

CreamDog | 8/13/2007, 3:51 pm EST

Where is some video of the conference?! I hear it was on VH1 classic. But shouldn’t it be on youtube by now?

Dom | 8/13/2007, 3:51 pm EST

“Look-at-all-the-people-here-t onight…”………This is the stuff dreams are made of. The best front man in the game and the best guitarist alive. Would be nice if Mike came, but he was definitely the weakest link in the band anyway.

DK | 8/13/2007, 3:51 pm EST

Michael anthony needs to be there tho, who is gunna sing the backing vocals that are so synonomous with the roth era tracks?

Mike | 8/13/2007, 3:52 pm EST

Whoever wrote it: this VH tour isn’t about cash; it’s about their legacy.

DLR’s been hungry for this for YEARS!! And Ed has a lot to prove after VH III and the drunken Van Hagar tour a few years ago.

VH used to be considered the American Led Zep, the coolest band on the planet. I got the feeling from the press conference today that these guys are serious — not like the Eagles, or whoever.

VHRawks | 8/13/2007, 3:53 pm EST

We all know that is a money spinner, but hell, it VH, albeit with Wolfie.

Hey, I’ll get suckered into all the hype —- they’ll take my money and run and I’ll forget all about their lost promises for a coupla hours and watch Eddie open it up and gaze at David’s crotch.

Mike Anthony | 8/13/2007, 3:53 pm EST

I’m not that good

fab@fab-silva.com | 8/13/2007, 3:54 pm EST

3 things DLR can’t see because of his enormous ego: 1. The Police were always bigger than VH 2. The Police never toyed with their fan base; they didn’t start-stop-start-stop and continuously yank their fans’ chain 3. Guaranteed The Police will at least double VH’s gross intake

PREDICTION: this tour will last just as long as DLR’s pathetic talk radio career… 4 sad months before they’re at each other’s throat

Wolfgang VanHalen | 8/13/2007, 3:57 pm EST

Mr Roth sure likes to give me back massages before a gig!

Dom | 8/13/2007, 3:58 pm EST

Roth did a solo show in Ontario 2 years ago and he played all the best Van Halen songs. He was awesome – true VH fans will not be dissappointed…

jamie's not cryin' anymore | 8/13/2007, 3:59 pm EST

Sweet, can’t believe it, cynics go away, let us that have the loyalty/awesome memories of VH/DLR be.

BTW they look awesome, just saw a photo of them and they are in top shape.

Wolfie needs to work out tho.

Steve'o | 8/13/2007, 3:59 pm EST

I predict this tour will derail on October 18th in Chicago when Dave puts out his hip in a feeble attempt at a round-house. Gary Cherone will be called in to replace Dave and Eddie will fall off the wagon and somewhere in Cabo, Sammy will be rolling on the ground laughing his ass off. Saddest of all I predict that on Saturday August 18th I’ll be lined up at a Ticket Master with $120.00 for a ticket.

VH4 | 8/13/2007, 3:59 pm EST

Has anyone heard of the opening acts besides this sixth root band from Boston?

Lukather | 8/13/2007, 4:00 pm EST

They are from NH not Boston

JoJo | 8/13/2007, 4:01 pm EST

The police were horrible, and shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as VH. VH is america’s ulitmate band, and the only other band that i would put them in the same catagory with is Zepplin.

FuckYou | 8/13/2007, 4:04 pm EST

Zeppelin, Van Halen, Metallica.

Welcome back Dave !!
Now, let’s rock!!!!!

fab@fab-silva.com | 8/13/2007, 4:05 pm EST

JoJo,
written like a true sycophant

Donut City | 8/13/2007, 4:08 pm EST

Mike A should be on board! Backing tracks aren’t gonna cut it for the harmonies. I’ll boo if that rumor is true!…DLR will be fun, though like a bad comedian, he needs to have some fresh material for this tour. The “low drag, high speed” or “shine up my Keith Richards Merit badge”, “VH is like a brand name like Nike, McDonalds” all that, which he delivers time & time again, each time selling it with that freaked out grin, & laughing at his own jokes….I like that he’s really a freak! doesn’t seem to get some poke fun at him, or doesn’t care. It’ll be interesting….does it matter Mike A is friends with Sammy, & his hot sauce tastes good with the Tequila? Lighten up EVH.

Joe | 8/13/2007, 4:08 pm EST

No matter what this is a joke for two reasons. One, Dave cant sing anymore, and two, Ed cant play anymore. Anyone who has followed these two artists over the last several years will agree and if you dont you are a just blind( and deaf) fan. Anyone who saw the horrendous attempt by Ed to demonstrate his new gear at NAMM will be cringing at the thought of this one time great player getting up stage and ruining some of the greatest riffs and solos ever written with his freakin wah wah pedal and Fernandes sustainer…UGGH, Im going to be sick!!

Michael | 8/13/2007, 4:08 pm EST

At least they’ve been rehearsing, which, judging from what I heard of the opening Police shows…Sting and co. didn’t bother aside from those warmup shows.

Marty P. | 8/13/2007, 4:09 pm EST

Can Van Halen be the next R.S.cover story please ???? No more no talent covers! (Like the current cover or Bob Dylan again).

JERKY | 8/13/2007, 4:10 pm EST

HOW BOUT VAL ON TOUR WITH VH
LOL

The Wench | 8/13/2007, 4:11 pm EST

Is Bea Arthur part of this tour?

Sting | 8/13/2007, 4:11 pm EST

Police=sting=one name idol=cher…in it for the money with that synthesizer crap.

Evan's mom | 8/13/2007, 4:12 pm EST

oh man, this is great. i love the guys taking up for van halen. i can picture them now in their gym shorts and neon green tank tops doing some one finger typing at their public “libary” wearing those multi colored visor sunglasses. whoo, go van halen!

Joe | 8/13/2007, 4:14 pm EST

Whats with all of the Police brutality? At least they did a real show with the original members, nothing against Wolfie, but any true VH fan knows that Mike was a HUGE part of their DLR era sound, nuff said.

1984 | 8/13/2007, 4:14 pm EST

Where’s the BEEF?
“You can trust me…” – Joe Isuzu or DLR?

Sting | 8/13/2007, 4:15 pm EST

Yeah, I wanna hear a bass solo, please, bass solo.

Mike DD | 8/13/2007, 4:16 pm EST

I would rather see the Osmond Reunion Tour, Van Halen sucks and I will stay away from the arena when they come to town. My god, what type of people would actually pay money to see this crap?

PARN VH | 8/13/2007, 4:17 pm EST

Thier pick for opening act is not unexpected… Do you remember the opening band for the 1984 tour?? It was some 3 piece band called Great Balls of Fire or some sh%$t like that – atleast in Houston.

Antone | 8/13/2007, 4:17 pm EST

I get a kick out of the chronic Eddie bashers; they are everywhere this time! Hatred stems from jealousy and jealousy is just a dissatisfaction with one’s self.

Eddie will be on target this tour, he’s one of the best and always will be. Eddie’s been a fine guitarist in the past few years, sure experimental, but he’s an artist, that’s what they do.

I couldn’t be more psyched!

Michael | 8/13/2007, 4:18 pm EST

I love the Police but I’m not blind or deaf enough to deny the first few shows were awful. And everyone was touching themselves over that tour.

Will the VH tour be a trainwreck? Totally, 100%. Will I be the first in line to see? Absolutely.

Ted Templeton | 8/13/2007, 4:18 pm EST

Roth is a great character, & I wish it were 10 yrs earlier, he hasn’t pulled off his signature vocal scream in the studio in years. He doesn’t attempt it. He’s a shell of himself, & looks like a middle aged Soccer Dad. Low Speed, high drag. But i’ll go!

JoJo | 8/13/2007, 4:18 pm EST

Evan’s Mom,
I guess your into that slick hip hop that is booming out your car today. I also imagine the people you hang around, standing there with a fourty and their pants down to their knees

Cleveland Steamer | 8/13/2007, 4:19 pm EST

You suck Van Halen! I hope you never see the stage, crybaby, ego-driven trash. Aweful stuff all around.

James | 8/13/2007, 4:21 pm EST

“I can describe Wolfie in two words,” Alex said. “DNA.”

Huh?

FuckYou | 8/13/2007, 4:24 pm EST

Alex; “Two words, DNA!”
Well, you know, it’s Alex, you know…

Jake Burns | 8/13/2007, 4:25 pm EST

Oh, who gives two craps about this ?

Police Fan | 8/13/2007, 4:26 pm EST

Wolfie's Mommy | 8/13/2007, 4:28 pm EST

Don’t sleep in the same bed as your uncle Dave or you will end up walking funny the next morning! Have a fun tour Wolfie.

Crop Duster | 8/13/2007, 4:28 pm EST

EVH is always lovey dovey before the new album, tour. “I’m sober, have never hit on all cylinders with a singer” all that. Then what happens? Anthony was foolish enough to remain friends with Sammy. those harmonies are/were a major factor in the VH sound. Like the Hardrock BeachBoyz! Now, a tape of him, Millie Vanilli Style. Booo!

Jack White | 8/13/2007, 4:28 pm EST

I have always admired this band, even thru it all. They will in my best guess come out and stomp the naysayers. I fully expect a rock spectacle indeed. Way to go boys.
Huge Kudos…

Michael A. | 8/13/2007, 4:30 pm EST

Hey Wolfie-
You could have lived off of daddy’s money- Thanks for stealing my job you little fucking prick!!!!

Billy | 8/13/2007, 4:31 pm EST

They look like two queers.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

charlie | 8/13/2007, 4:32 pm EST

this is going to be the greatest train wreck ever. i cant wait to se the show

Sammy | 8/13/2007, 4:33 pm EST

I’ll help finsh out the tour when, and I mean when Ed gets sick of Dave…by the third date!

SadJay17 | 8/13/2007, 4:33 pm EST

Yea..that picture looks like the cover of “The Bidcage”

JD | 8/13/2007, 4:34 pm EST

I heard The Police are opening for Van Halen with JoJo on vocals

Gary | 8/13/2007, 4:34 pm EST

Wolfie do not pack too much…I get tired carrying all of your bags up those stairs.

Could This Be Love. | 8/13/2007, 4:34 pm EST

Thank God they finally got rid of Michael Anthony. Two words: Bass Solo.

And hey, RS, where are the advertised photos and video from announcement?

Jughead | 8/13/2007, 4:36 pm EST

The two love birds Eddie and Dave have kissed and made up. Ohh ain’t that cute! Now they share a common goal: rob you blind of your hard earned cash to hear them play crap from 20+ years ago. Don’t expect the same energy. They’re looking to cash in.

stankcheese | 8/13/2007, 4:37 pm EST

****VAN HALEN SUCKS*****
get over it losers

JoJo | 8/13/2007, 4:39 pm EST

I know i could do a better job singing for the Police than that no shoe wearing wanker Sting.

To all you d-heads who are trashing this reunion. Why the hell are you here reading about a Van Halen Reunion then? Fuck off and go read about Stink/Police are whatever else limp wristed band you follow.

Jason | 8/13/2007, 4:58 pm EST

Has anyone seen the prices of these tickets?

Big Money | 8/13/2007, 5:02 pm EST

NH or Boston? Fucking morons. VH is from L.A.

statistics | 8/13/2007, 5:06 pm EST

odds that any of these tour dates will actually happen – 1:237

odds that all of them will happen – 1:1,642

odds that mike anthony, hagar, and (fuck it, even) sharone jump the band in a dark parking lot – 1:2

Valerie | 8/13/2007, 5:06 pm EST

What a horrible thing to do to Wolfie, Ed. Building him up like that. Imagine the pressure he’s going to be under to perform. This isn’t just a garage band and he looks like he’d rather be at home with his stamp collection anyway.

njboss | 8/13/2007, 5:12 pm EST

why the police comparison? ain’t no comparison…vh will blow them away like they always have – 3/4 or not…the police…please…zzzzzzzzzzzz …

We are doing 2 sets; one of Extreme hits and the second all my hit s with Van Halen.
The show is only about 15 minutes long, but drinks are 1/2 price!

Mark | 8/13/2007, 5:44 pm EST

What’s this? A band that had maybe 3 decent lps a couple of decades ago are back? So What…
Good guitar player who is boring as hell…ever heard of a riff Eddie?

John Lee | 8/13/2007, 5:46 pm EST

If “MEAN WISE MAGIC” is any indication of the “right stuff” still left in the tank, then I’m chippin’ in for a full tank!

JJ | 8/13/2007, 6:13 pm EST

I wonder if Alex Van Halen is going to take a half-hour drum solo at every show. You know, the one where he plays sythetic drums and turns on the echo so it seems like he is the fastest drummer ever. Craptastic!
Or maybe Eddie will play the same guitar solo that he has played 10,000 times, boy that never gets old! Can’t wait, how much are the tickets $500 a pop.

You’re their bread and butter, they won’t forget about y’all. Who do you think DLR was referencing when he mentioned…”blasting out the back of a pickup in the Burger King drive-thru???”

The stars have truely alined. They truely are like a classic 78″Trans Am “PIMPED OUT” and made brand new all over agian. DIAMOND DAVE looks like a million dollars, and the classic stand up comedy, that is signature DAVE TV. I currently live in Charlotte, BOB CATS arena is amazing. I cann’t wait for this. CNN is covering this deal that’s how big it is. Every media source in the entire free world will be in Charlotte NC on sept. 29th. How long has it been since you camped out for tickets? Well get ready to relive 1984 right down to the very last detail, if you want a seat for this gig. I have a feeling their going to be booking staduims next summer with bands like Breaking Benjamin, kings of queeron, etc. etc. in an all day music festival. KEEP IT REAL WITH THE ROTHBAND, and good luck being able to buy a ticket.

Thin Red Line | 8/13/2007, 9:26 pm EST

Release and play Bullethead in concert and all is forgiven… unless there isn’t a 2nd leg of the tour. I’m from FLA and have traveled 800miles to see them in West Virginia in 1984, and traveled 200 miles to see DLR in a Bar with 200 people in Orlando in the late 90s, but I’m not going out of this state to see this band. How they can screw Dallas/Atlanta/FLA fans like this is beyond me… if they truly care about their fans, they will stay together and do a 2nd leg…Miami is beautiful in Feb. To those slamming Wolfie: Leave the kid alone…and to Dave: don’t interrupt Eddie when he tries to speak & being stoned on stage used to be cool in the 80’s, but it’s not at $163 a show in the 21st century.
Check out the Nov 1982 Life magazine when they covered the band during a Detroit show. They were for sure at the top of their game then. I’m in the 1st pic and so is one of the many Megadeth drummers (Chuck Behler is right in the front row below Dave). Here is what the cover looks like

NATEDOG | 8/13/2007, 11:01 pm EST

Most of losers taking shots at VH are White Stripes fans!! Remember the same magizine that ranked Jack Black ahead of Eddie Van Halen in the top 100 guitaists of all time! Gimme a fuckin’ break!

It’s incredible how the new VH site looks… the minute the wet dog was taken out of the picture they all look like a rock n roll band again.

But looks are not everything when you are over 50. I just hope they can really play and make it all exciting.

have fun all.

Al | 8/14/2007, 12:09 am EST

Van Halen is NOT Tourin in Texas! Why not! please tour anywhere in Texas Van Halen!

Bonogamy | 8/14/2007, 12:16 am EST

The train wreck entertainment value of Eddie and Dave together again will be worth the ticket price.

The VH brothers seem to have given up making albums on a regular basis. They don’t seem to have anything left in the tank, because if they did, they would have made at least 2 albums since VH III.

At least they’re talking about developing a new synergy with Wolfgang playing bass, and maybe it’s going to get Eddie’s creative juices going again. I’m not holding my breath though.

Like the KISS reunion tour of 1996, they’ll blow their wad with the initial rush of hype and energy of the novelty of it all and then go back to being a bunch of old men using their couple of past hit albums as crutches. I hope I’m wrong though.

Dickie | 8/14/2007, 1:11 am EST

I wonder if Dave is going to wear the fucktard for this tour.

Tora! Tora! Tora! | 8/14/2007, 1:21 am EST

Dave’s comment about The Police was not a cut on them…his point was that this is not a one tour reunion (like the Police), it is a longer term thing.

zenidog | 8/14/2007, 1:24 am EST

how exciting! and in ten years i’ll be first in line to buy tix for the Blink 182 reunion!

Jeff | 8/14/2007, 2:22 am EST

I’d be upset about MA, I know his backing vox make the band…

…except I know for a fact his backing vocals on the 2004 tour were canned. They can can Wolfie’s backing vocals and I’ll pretend I don’t know the difference just like I did last time.

No disrespect to Mikey but uh, the kids last name is “Van Halen”…give him a chance, eh?

tpmoore | 8/14/2007, 2:50 am EST

Oops! Tour Off. Diamond Dave introduced Eddie as Edward!

tpmoore | 8/14/2007, 3:06 am EST

Looks like Diamond Dave has still got a bad case of L.S.D.(Lead Singer Disease) and the tour has yet to begin. Yet, “Meet us in the future not the pasture” means that Diamond Dave has still got it, but how many years has he been waiting to say that.

I’m hearing $250-$500 depending on what you want. The whole backstage package is avialable to those who are willing to spend a couple grand getting 2 people in.GOOD LCUK WITH EVEN GETTING TICKET PERIOD…..

I’ll be smilin’ again…

I think that this might just work, this time. Good to see that Ed’s happy. Seems like the boys are in the right frame of mind & know what needs to be done, to keep momentum. I await a new record &, hopefully, a European Tour!

Michael Anthony | 8/14/2007, 10:46 am EST

Is it too late to join the band? I see all this publicity surrounding this VH tour and now I wish I were involved. I’m sorry guys. Please let me in the band, c’mon.

Gary Coleman | 8/14/2007, 10:47 am EST

What choo talkin ’bout, david???

Muzakman | 8/14/2007, 11:19 am EST

Oh God. Here we go again with the “brotherhood” stuff. We heard it about Sammy, we heard it about Cherone… Roth is still as obnoxious as ever…
without Anthony beware of canned/pre-recorded backing vocals being used.. I think that is what they have done for the keyboard parts the past few tours. I want to see people play and sing live, no backing tracks please!…

birddogger | 8/14/2007, 11:44 am EST

keyboard parts for the past few tours weren’t pre-recorded, they were played backstage by Alan “Fitz” Gerald of Night Ranger, which is lame. Put him out where people can see him.

Actually I thought Dave sounded way more humble than I’d ever heard him before. Which isn’t the same as saying he sounded HUMBLE…just MORE humble.

Vankook | 8/14/2007, 11:47 am EST

Are we going to have to sit through some Roth bullshit sword/karate display? The only thing I can hope for is that in his middle ages, David Lee Roth decides to dawn a jumpsuit again and dress like Dr. Rockso

Mattboy | 8/14/2007, 11:54 am EST

Ok, without Michael Anthony this isn’t cool. Look at who was at the Rock and Roll Hall of “Lame” representing VH, Michael…the ONLY original member that showed up. Props to Sammy too for having class and being there. They should cal it “Doing It For The Money Before We Get Too Old Or Die Tour.” Why am I b**ching? Of course I’ll be there!

JJ | 8/14/2007, 2:37 pm EST

I wish I could take them at their word, that they have brotherly love towards each other. Roth has a tendency of annoying the hell out of bandmates and Eddie has a tendency to return to a drunken stupor while on-stage, and god knows what else he was hooked on. But I will be buying tickets this weekend so I hope this time they can stick it out. But I’m willing to forgive them for now. God bless.

VH 4EVER | 8/14/2007, 3:04 pm EST

OMG I am stoked! VH baby!! The world finally begins to rotate again.
Will miss Mikey, but dang Diamond Dave and Eddie…Hamburger and Fies, Hot Dog an a Shake, Rock and roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dryheave | 8/14/2007, 3:05 pm EST

All this brotherhood stuff they talk about everytime they change the line-up. they have to package themselves to sell tickets. its not another band at that age c’mon no record company is going to sign a bunch of 45+ year old “rockers” rock and roll is young energy. legacy touring is another, just big business and retirment plans. and its a product. this is just a legacy tour, they proved they could do it 25 years ago thats why there doing it today. but five guys from muncie indiana around 50 yrs of age are not going to be signed to an arena tour. theres no new album or music. and sure its fun, but its for the money..

VH 4EVER | 8/14/2007, 3:08 pm EST

Yeah but VH is so welcomed. With today’s BS music, cmon. VH is like comfort food for my soul. Dated or not.

Gary | 8/14/2007, 3:15 pm EST

Someone ask Dave is Eddie’s wiener is still crooked.

Michael Anthony | 8/14/2007, 3:18 pm EST

Hey chubbs, you owe me, BIG! You know kinda like you.

DLR | 8/14/2007, 3:22 pm EST

Yes. Eddie’s still crooked to the left. Yes. It still tastes like crack and Heineken. But the rent is due and Rogaine ain’t cheap. You gotta do what ya gotta do.

Some kid from Florida!!! | 8/14/2007, 3:23 pm EST

hey i thought van halen was goin on a 50 date tour but how come on every website i got to its only 25!!! I NEED!!! THEM TO COME TO FLORIDA!!! anywhere in florida every concert i go to is always far from where i live and my dad really doesnt mind drivin to go see em so where the hell is the other 25 dates?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Ed | 8/14/2007, 3:28 pm EST

Dear kid in Florida,
We left off the other 25 just in case Dave becomes a pain in the ass we’re not locked in to the second half of the tour. Hopes are that his Ritalin will be in before the tour starts. We’ll post more dates as they come. In the mean time have fun jackin’ it to 1984.
Your Pal,
Ed

Music City Madman | 8/14/2007, 3:39 pm EST

Guess I’ll be driving to Charlotte or Indy!!! Whassamatta boys, don’t you like the south no more? Nashville still has Gruhn’s guitars one of Ed’s hang outs… Just imagine DLR and Eddie’s Frankenstrat screaming out the brown sound at the Ryman Auditorium. Oh hell yes, I have to go touch myself.

DLR | 8/14/2007, 4:32 pm EST

What the hell is Alex talking about? Explaining Wolfie by sayiing, “D.N.A.” What does that stand for Donuts, Nutrageous bars, and Asthma. I heard there’s a rider on their contract that Wolfie gets all the brown M&Ms.

Carl | 8/14/2007, 4:43 pm EST

Yeah nothing like seeing an aging Diamond Dave wearing his spandex pants to show off his wrinkling dong. Can’t wait for that. Yeah.

DLR | 8/14/2007, 4:51 pm EST

Hey, Hey. It’s Diamond Dave here. I’ll be wearing my ass-less chaps on this tour. It’s easier access for my colostomy bag. Man, I’m an old fart.

Michael Anthony | 8/14/2007, 4:56 pm EST

Please guys let me back in the band!! I’ve been practicing in front of my mom’s mirror. Sammy comes over and we play air guitar to 0U812. I can do it I swear!

Dave Yockey | 8/14/2007, 4:58 pm EST

That is weird about the opening band being an unknown. I think they are just trying to show support to some up and coming acts which is cool. I heard that

was doing the shows in Indy and
Cleveland.

DLR | 8/14/2007, 4:58 pm EST

I can’t believe Inside Moves is opening in Cleveland!! Their guitar player really gets me going!

Skooter | 8/14/2007, 5:15 pm EST

I think Wolfie is pretty awesome.

Melody | 8/14/2007, 5:15 pm EST

Me, too. I just had a birthday and this is a great present. The guitar player is hot, but sort of stuck up. I sent him a care package and got no response. I’ll stalk his ass down in Cleveland. I will not be denied!

Sammy | 8/14/2007, 5:16 pm EST

I hope Eddie’s cum tastes better now that he is off the booze and crack pipe.

NUNO B. | 8/14/2007, 5:23 pm EST

I used to worship Eddie but ever since he gave my boyfriend Gary the herps, I can’t support him any longer.

Alex Van Halen | 8/14/2007, 5:24 pm EST

I like poop. Where’s my helmet, walls hurt me head. Brrrrrrrrr.

Dave Yockey | 8/14/2007, 5:25 pm EST

Nuno, you better be joking. I just chugged Cherone’s jizz at the back of Wal-Mart when we got off our shift Saturday night. He was talking about getting a band together and got me hot. If I get the herps, I am gonna kick some butt.

Watch it Vai. I will tell everyone how I caught you and Gregg Bisonnette spanking it to a Ralph Macchio picture. Wax on Wax off my ass, Mr. Meeyagee. I’ll tell everyone how CC DeVille played your parts in Crossroads and on my albums. Go blow David Coverdale and leave me and Eddie alone you hag. We are soul mates….again.

Johnny Camero | 8/14/2007, 5:36 pm EST

They should tour with Melencamp.

Noel Vestri | 8/14/2007, 7:54 pm EST

After I designed the logo for the Cabo Wabo Club & VanHalen/Sammy Hagar screwed me just like they did to David Lee & now to Michael Anthony. Loyalty and Honesty are not in the VanHalen vocabulary.

JT | 8/14/2007, 9:56 pm EST

Really why is this being called a reunion. It’s not it’s the forth line-up of Van Halen, not a reunion. I guess it’s cool that Dave is singing with them again, but really I would rather see another Sammy tour. Or even better a Gary tour. Don’t know what the big deal is, it’s not like Steve Perry’s back with Journey. Wake up Mullets, and smell the stale beer.

Rich C | 8/14/2007, 10:07 pm EST

What’s the difference between Poison, Ratt, Rolling Stones or anybody else having “Reunion Tours”. They still kick ace and can’t wait to see them. Better than the new crap bands & screamo emo out there.

Van Halen Suck Big 8==D | 8/14/2007, 10:14 pm EST

THAT’S RIGHT LITTLE SHEEP… follow my “band” NO matter how much I $hit on you. I treat bandmates, business partners, and endorsing companies like crap so what do you think you really mean to me in the grand scheme of things?

VH$VH$VH$VH$VH$VH$VH$VH$VH $VH$VH$

All I care about is that you fork over you hard-earned cash for rehashed songs that I’ve already been making millions off of since the early 80s. I need to pay alimony now because even my wife has had enough of my bull$hit and my Lambourghinis are expensive to maintain, so while you’re at it, why not pick up one of my $25,000 piece of $hit guitars.

VH$VH$VH$VH$VH$VH$VH$VH$VH $VH$VH$

Can’t afford my replica Frankencrap, why not pick up a “cheap” Charvel for a cool $3K? And you really can’t get that “brown sound” (man I really am full of it… even my sound is brown) without my patent drop-D tuna or my MXR Phase 90.

That’s right, play it safe and be my clone. Don’t venture out and try to find your own sound. Gee, why should you, I haven’t since 1985.

Love,
Eddie Van Halen

RE:

What the hell is Alex talking about? Explaining Wolfie by saying, “D.N.A.”
BILL N: ALEX WAS ACTUALLY A GENIUS FOR SAYING THIS. DNA means he is genetically awesome because of the VH musical family genes. He made this quote even better by saying “2 words, DNA”. Most uneducated people would assume that Alex is an idiot because there are 3 letters in DNA but it is called deoxyribonucleic acid (2 words)…this is a Yogi Berraish type line.

Downsy | 8/15/2007, 12:15 am EST

VH is back and I for one, am very excited about the latest headlines.
Too many people have been so caught up in the he said/ she said shit, that it seems that everyone is too concerned with the “alleged” fueds and who is in the right, within the band. There is ALWAYS two sides to every story, and furthermore, who really gives a rat’s ass. It has always been about the music to me. Rather than remain caught up in the little school girl bitch gossip, open your ears and listen to the magic that will always be Van Halen, no matter who has the mic or the bass. There has always been an element of chemistry, no matter who or what. I loved the Dave years, the Sammy years, and even liked the Cherone tracks(although it was far from either of the previous sounds we came to know.) I don’t think the band has ever been about what “WE” think or want. I believe that Ed, Alex, Mike, Dave, Sam, Gary, and now Wolfie have gone about THEIR business, which is THEIR business, exactly the way they have wanted. They are all artists in their own respects. They are not our entertainment puppets or sounding boards for positivity, acceptance, or the legions of negaholics.(Go check yourselves into rehab for that!) With an open mind, I am very anxious to hear the new kid wonder and old Diamond Dave back in the line up. It isn’t what we were familiar with several decades ago, or even five years ago, but the band will always remain under one name: VAN HALEN!!

Todd from msvl Wa. | 8/15/2007, 4:21 am EST

who cares about this—i already saw the best two live bands this summer and feel none can do better Heaven And Hell San Jose–Tickets Were Reasonable; and Rush Wgite River Ampitheatre and Clark County Fairgrounds—-after that there can be no match ever period.. But of course you all will fork up your monies for these egomaniacal rocks stars who care less about there so called family and band member let alone fans..
Save your money–See Heaven and Hell Or Rush

It will actually be cool seeing these guys onstage again, meaning dlr and evh side by side again. as in NOT SAMMYS VOICE but DAVID LEE ROTHS!! and of course wolfie.

It will also be interesting to see the interactions of eddie and his son on stage for the first time.

its just like the KISS re-union,everyone was dissing them and bitching that they would suck and I shelled out some big bucks to see that show and it was worth evey penny as I am sure this will be too, been waiting 20 years 4 it and I am sure it will be the biggest tour of the year and I am hoping to be there 4 it if I can scrape up the nearly five hundred it will cost 4 decent seats…..

I’m glad to see Eddie and Dave together. When did that last happen? 1984. Ring a bell? Dave took Eddie’s licks and wrote some lyrics and they sold over 10 million copies. Wonder if they can even begin to do what they used to do…. sure hope so.

Knuckle Bonezz!!! | 8/15/2007, 10:54 pm EST

DIAMOND DAVE is back on top, and once again the reigning HEAVEY WEIGHT CHAMPION of ROCK-N-ROLL. They are truely the biggest badest band in the land right now, just like when he left in 1984. Just like when he rejoined them briefly n 1996. When they get together the entire world dropes everything they are doing to see every little detail, of the ongoing VAN HALEN saga. They truley are in a league all their own, and I include every member past, and present in that. Few acts ever grab the attention of the world (not just rock fans)like this. The BEATLES, ELVIS, WOODSTOCK, etc. Unlike those mentioned these guy’s are far from history. KEEP IT REAL WITH THE ROTHBAND BABY!!!!!!

Kuttis From Australia | 8/16/2007, 12:31 am EST

I am excited beyond belief to be flying to NC for the VERY first show in VIP 5-star F1 section with backstage tour and pre-concert party. This is why I spent hundreds of sleepless nights tirelessly working my butt through college. And just in case the tour falls apart halfway through, I will have seen my boys. This will be three generations of Van Halens for me, as I saw Ed & Alex’s dad on May 10, 1984, at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Now to get to see Wolfie will be very special.

And Ed’s solo … heaven on earth.

Looking forward to a kick-butt show,
Angela (front row fan)

Martin | 8/20/2007, 9:28 pm EST

Remind me why Alex, Wolfie and Eddie were even *at* that press conference, given they could barely get a word in ?!

This might be a half-decent tour if somebody can gaffer-tape Dave’s stupid mouth shut … he sounds like a caffeine-jagged FM-station DJ.

Remember Van Halen, Saint Louis is the city of Sammy Hagar. It will be interesting to see what kind of reception you will get when you make a stop in Sammytown.
I think it stinks how they shunned Sammy & Mike Anthony. VH, I will not support your so called reunion farce. It reminds me of when I went to my High School reunion & found it a waste of time and money.
Go see Sammy & The Wabos with Mike & drink has excellent mas Cabo Wabo. A fan from Saint Louis.

I HAVE BEEN A LIFE LONG VAN HALEN FAN. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A NEW ALBUM AND A REUNION FOR 22 YEARS… THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK THAT THIS BAND IS A LITTLE RUSTY, THAT MAYBE DAVE CAN’T HOLD HIS OWN ANYMORE..HERE’S A LITTLE TID BIT.. VAN HALEN, EVEN IF THEY MIGHT BE RUSTY(and that’s a big if)WILL STILL WIPE THE FLOOR WITH ANY BAND PUTTING MUSIC OUT TODAY. AND THAT’S A FACT. AND IF ANYONE DISAGREES WITH THAT THEN CHECK OUT THE SHOW AND LET VAN HALEN TAKE YOU TO SCHOOL….NOT A SURMON, JUST A FACT

Kuttis From Australia | 8/25/2007, 10:07 pm EST

Does anyone know how big the tour is going to be? It’s going to be the Tour Of The Decade.

astro zombie | 8/26/2007, 5:47 pm EST

what a disgrace. no mike anthony. he was never my favorite but c’mon. VH should look up the meaning of the word reunion. Waiting for a Misfits reunion. Now that I would pay to see. This joke not so much.

Zin | 8/26/2007, 6:49 pm EST

Even though Dave has lost his voice, he’s a living legend. I wonder how Wolfie is gonna cover Mike’s high harmonies. That’s a must to sound like old Van Halen. Van Hagar is not Van Halen and neither is Wolf Halen. Regardless, I will be there.

nerb | 8/27/2007, 3:28 am EST

surprised this hasnt fell thru yet, but if it has ed wont tell. cost him a fortune to back out now. they’d be clear of everything allright, clear channel would give them a root canal up the zoo hole.

Juan Cruz | 8/27/2007, 11:05 am EST

I have been waiting my entire life for this reunion, and I think that this never gonna happen. Not only the VH have a new generation on this music, my two sons actually listen the legacy of this band and the magic is still alive.
Please, come to Mexico, a really huge mass of fans have this dream since the Van Halen I vynil album appears and it’s really a lot of time.

Dr. Ralph | 8/28/2007, 5:48 pm EST

Wasn’t anyone paying attention? THIS IS A NEW BAND!!! Just ask Dave… and all these Dave hogged the microphone comments are really silly. Dave makes witty comments and EVH fucks your world up with the INSANEST licks ever concocted. It’s a lot like telling a joke to the mafia. If there’s not some serious muscle behind you no one laughs. EDDIE IS SOME SERIOUS MUSCLE… understand? CLASS DISMISSED!!!!! OWWWWWWWW…..

AeroFanBob | 9/6/2007, 12:41 pm EST

No Mike, no Sammy…a big step down in the vocals dept. A rock band is not just a lead guitar, bass and drums. Are they really going to use “canned” backing vocals, like Madonna and Britney Spears would do? I know Dave has the attitude, showmanship and can work a crowd. But vocals are important, dammit! I’d expect more from the “mighty” Van Halen. Good luck…

captainchaos1967@yahoo.com | 9/7/2007, 12:01 am EST

Been a Van Halen fan my whole life and when they switched from diamond Dave to Sammy I was still a very supportive fan. Michael Anthony made up 3/4 the show when I saw Van Halen in 1986. I hope the band does great but without Michael Anthony and his J.D. guitar it just is not the same Van Halen.

I hope Gary & The Baba-Booeys will be the opening act!!!

JGH VH FAN | 9/8/2007, 1:17 am EST

I think people shouldn’t pass judgement on anyones ability unless they have seen a performance first. Who do you think knows more about Wolfie’s playing ability than his father, the best rock guitar player ever. And DLR will do just fine, I can’t wait to see if they can finally keep it together for the fans! It certainly is in their financial best interest, they will sell out most shows and make millions on this tour, with or without the naysayers. True VH fans should be excited about this tour!

Saw them last night at the Wachovia center in Phili – 1st off let me say this. This was way, waaay over due by the Van Halen brothers. In fact, being 40 years old and a longtime fan. They waited to long. Instead of this being a truly wonderful reunion of one of the greatest rock bands – guitarists, front-men…it resembled the beginings of Van Halen dinasaur act – sadly. Having said that, they sounded awesome….it was wierd watching a 16 year old playing…and Mike Anthony was missed. Eddie played better then he has in years. Dave sounded great. However, sorry guys, you waited to damn long to do this. Everyone in the crown was old lol made me feel old! lmao

OK, WTF guys?? Us guys in the south…..Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma…etc…Plus those cold folks up in the far north western states are getting the SHAFT!

I know you rock and you rock well, BUT you are on a very fast 25+ city tour and I do not want you to burn out and not get down here!!! I have seen y’all TWO times with the awesome SAMMY, once with….uhm, that mistake….Gary Cherone….OMG that was hard to watch!! Thank GOD Eddie you were on your game & Michael & Alex didn’t miss a beat!!

NOW, I NEED to see y’all with Diamond Dave where it all began! Where I sat for hours staring into the album cover listening to you rock out, and swearing Eddie winked at me;)

Please please please put us all on the map and add those states ESPECIALLY here in Tampa, FL!!!

You NEED some Florida weather!!

Calgary Rocker | 12/5/2007, 6:39 am EST

I would much rather see them again with Sammy at the wheel cuz Sammy Rocks. He rocked us all through the 80’s and 90’s. I saw them in 2005 with Sammy and now I will see them with Roth in Calgary, just to say I saw them, but like previous members of the band, all heve proven to be expendible except family members(Van Halen). This is just a money making venture. Capitalizing on the comeback of a previous genre. Everyone is doing it and I would do the same. It’s just a matter of time before Roth is back in his Vegas lounge and EVH’s uncle or cousin or whoever is the new frontman.

Mike | 12/10/2007, 1:33 pm EST

I just won tickets to see Van Halen. I saw the 1984 tour with DLR and 5150 with Hagar. Van Halen with DLR is the ONLY Van Halen!! Look forward to seeing Wolfie on bass.
