Trent Reznor is planning to turn Nine Inch Nails’ concept album Year Zero into the next little-screen saga. Reznor told a U.K. magazine that he already has a producer attached to the project and has been meeting with writers with the goal of selling the idea as a television series. “We’re about to pitch it to the network, so we’re a couple of weeks away from meeting all of the main people, and we’ll see what happens,” Reznor said. “We may record a new soundtrack for the show. We’ll see, but there’s already the Year Zero record attached to the story.” Would Reznor’s elaborate depiction of our doomed world circa 2023 make for good TV? We’re revisiting the entire Year Zero story from its innovative promotion scheme to its release to decide.

I think this is a great idea considering the mainstream hasn’t bought into the concept album. Not to say Trent is concerned what the mainstream thinks of his music, but it is a very intersting idea behind the album. Hopefully the tv series can bring a better understanding of the album to the greater public

It is interesting how similar reznors contemporaries are with all this cross over art and media. It seems that music is just one outlet these guys find.

I agree with getting JJ Abrams to do the series. But it’s not just about finding the right producer and writers. Directors and actors can truly make or break a series. So if this has all the right elements it could be amazing.

And I wouldn’t worry too much about ratings; Trent already has an insane enough following that will watch every episode.

Get JJ Abrams on the phone!

Sounds like a neat idea, although I hope the show has some smart people attached to it. I could see it devolving into a cheesy little piece of dystopian fluff. On the other hand, it could be a great 6-disc saga with a killer soundtrack!

Maybe that guy who directed “Night Watch” should get involved. Just a suggestion.
