
- 50 Cent reportedly threw a fit last night after learning a track from September 11’s Curtis and its accompanying video leaked yesterday. “Follow My Lead” featuring Robin Thicke was apparently not supposed to be released for several months, after “We On Some Shit” and “Ayo Technology,” Fifty’s collaboration with Justin Timberlake, had time to breathe. According to reports, 50 raged at the offices of Interscope, which houses G-Unit Records, ripping out a plasma TV, throwing his cell phone through a glass window and announcing he was going on vacation.
- Pearl Jam have posted both the edited and unedited videos of their “Daughter” performance from Lollapalooza on their Web site so fans can see what got lost in AT&T’s live Webcast.
- Universal Music Group has unveiled big plans to release tracks without digital-rights management software. From August 21 to January, a test run will make DRM-free tracks available to most major retailers except iTunes, with whom Universal now has a month-to-month contract.
- Folk legend Linda Thompson has written a song called “Babyshambles” about Pete Doherty, saying, “I find him quite touching. He gets a rotten rap.”
- The initial lineup for the CMJ Festival (October 16-20 in New York City) includes Spoon, Justice, Rodrigo y Gabriela and Mute Math.
