  • Timbaland is talking about the ten tracks he and Justin Timberlake wrote and produced for Madonna’s upcoming album. The still-unnamed LP “is up there with Justin’s album,” according to Timbaland, who says he’ll finish it up with Madge in September. Timbaland added that the disc recalls the singer’s “Lucky Star” days, and will also include Pharrell track called “Candy Shop.”
  • Vince Gill, Mel Tillis and Ralph Emery will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame during the Country Music Awards in October.
  • The Allman Brothers Band, the Derek Trucks Band, Montgomery Gentry and the Counting Crows have been added to the Farm Aid lineup, which already includes Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews; the show takes place in New York on September 9th.
  • Time to update your anti-virus software: A new worm called w32.Deletemusic is programmed to delete all of the MP3s it finds on a computer, as well as on any external hard drives attached to it.

the RIAA also released AIDS because they thought they would get rid of the cassette tape dubbing population…I read that in National Geographic, I think.

seriously, the RIAA sounds like a good candidate for these dirty tricks…

True enough, tinman. The problem is that the worm will also wipe out the LEGALLY OWNED mp3s of honest music fans.

Jeff Tweedy (a guy who knows something about having his music downloaded) put it this way:

“And if the whole world’s singing your songs / And all of your paintings have been hung / Just remember what was yours is everyone’s from now on.

“And that’s not wrong or right /
But you can struggle with it all you like / You’ll only get uptight.”

It would be karmic justice for millions of people to have all that music they STOLE suddenly wiped out. Oh, waaa! Cry me a river.
