
- Madonna has been awaiting an official visit from Malawi’s child welfare services to complete her adoption of one-year-old David Banda, however that check-in trip has been delayed. The Malawi government denied the welfare services representative assigned to review Madonna’s care of Banda permission to travel to the U.K., leading the rep to speculate to reporters, “The whole adoption process may crumble and David [may be] sent back to his village.”
- Singer-songwriter Lee Hazlewood, who penned Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’” and went on to become a cult favorite as a recording artist in his later years, died at age 78.
