The long awaited Van Halen reunion tour is on: Rolling Stone has confirmed that the band will make an official anouncement at a Los Angeles press conference sometime next week. The band lineup will be David Lee Roth on vocals, Eddie Van Halen on guitar, Alex Van Halen on drums and Wolfgang Van Halen on bass. The tour, Van Halen’s first outing with Roth since 1984, will hit arenas this fall. Keep checking back at RollingStone.com for more information.

its not quite the same, its not ‘82 or ‘88 or even ‘93 anymore and they blew there original moment back in ‘96 with dlr and we got a horrid vh3 out of it. now he has kid in tow. it would be one thing if they produced a new album and toured a little less un-pretentously instead of this big ticket item cash grab they have going. like most of the older legacy bands do, all spark and no flame. these guys are old and now we have a family affair on stage.

Security Guy Stu | 11/9/2007, 3:53 am EST

I’m not here to get in the last word. In humble opinion, I think it is great that Eddie is touring with his son, christ almighty we are all lucky they are still alive, I know it is too bad we all can’t get what we want ie… having mike play, I get to see all the best bands in the world, well here is another one out there doing there thing. See you at the front of stage in Seattle.

Long Island Fan | 10/12/2007, 3:33 pm EST

I saw VH with DLR back in the early 80’s 2 times, saw the Sam Halen version 5 times. Also saw the DLR Tours with Steve Vai - AWESOME, and without Steve Vai - BLEW.
I also was fortunate to catch David Lee Roth and Sammy Haggar together 3 or 4 summers ago at Saratoga Springs…pretty neat.

I have tickets to the NOV 8 VH concert at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island and cant wait!
I have seen some of the You-Tube clips of the pretour concerts and am a bit concerned about DLR’s vocals. He sounds like a Las Vegas lounge singer on some of the songs, especially “Hot for Teacher” and “Jump”.

All in all …i cant wait!!!!

Steve Vai | 10/12/2007, 3:26 pm EST

Now…How about Sammy Haggar, Michael Anthony, STEVE VAI and Gregg Bissonette go on tour.

Personally…i would prefer Billy Sheehan on bass…but that is my opinion…..

Dave D | 10/1/2007, 11:25 pm EST

I missed the real Halen when they came to Seattle back in the day…and have regretted it ever since. Van Halen I and II are two of the best-sounding rock records ever made. The music speaks for itself:

I dont know why everyone likes the rolling stones? i mean i dont. no afence rolling stones but this web site is just plain old boring! srry

cadence2070 | 9/6/2007, 2:04 am EST

Lol….I m going. On Van Halen I, at least when the album 1st came out, you can hardly hear any bass. Not until Fair Warning, is the bass really pronounced. Of
course M. Anthony will be missed, not for his bass playing, but for his incredible backing vocals. On
that note though, I ll take Ed s
guitar rumble and Roth s stage
personna, over Mike s backing vocals, anytime. As for Wolfie?..
“And The Cradle Will Rock”:)

beforethedarktimesdotcom | 8/28/2007, 12:52 pm EST

I’m really torn on this tour, but will say I did buy tickets. I never had the opp to see the band with Dave, but saw them with Sammy and Gary. After they went to Sammy, the music seemed to lose alot of its fun factor and turn into love ballads and Sammy saying “HEY!” in every song. Nothing new generated there- I look forward to seeing them play w/DLR again, but will definitely miss Anthony.. Wolfie, don’t CHOKE!!

allanburnz | 8/22/2007, 6:29 pm EST

Wolfgang needs to join his mom Valerie on the diet plan. Maybe this was his way of getting out of it.

michael from europe | 8/17/2007, 7:48 am EST

The glass is definately half full, not half empty with this setup. The musical backbone is there, Ed, Alex and Dave. Dave is back in the band ! Thats most important for me atleast. It would be cool to have M.Anthony back in the band. But I believe this setup kicks the band up much more than any setup without Dave.

Nika | 8/16/2007, 1:43 pm EST

While I agree with many of the last comments made on this site. Some I have to disagree with I have been a fan since I was 12 years old. I used to wait at the record stores, buy VH tickets with my allowance bribe a relative to take me to there shows. I am 40 years old this year and my love for VH has not changed at all. I just bought the VIP package yesterday for the show in Auburn Hills, Michigan. I know it may not be the same with Mike but a chance to see them with DLR maybe just one more time to me is worth the money. It may not be perfect and there are going to be mistakes and they are getting older. But you know what so are you so am I we have all changed. The memories of VH from my youth, the concerts, etc those memories can never be replaced. To me they will always be the BEST ! If it is not Vanhalen it is not music.

Walter | 8/16/2007, 2:56 am EST

I’m 40 now, Van Halen is very much a part of my guitar playing life. However, I’m very skeptical about this whole 3/4ths reunion thing also. I’m sure Wolfie will play very well, how old is he, 16? What is Edward thinking? Exposing this kid to the Madness of Rock & Roll? I wish I could go on the road with my guitar god dad!!

But this is a very important tour, Ed’s trying so hard to top what Sammy’s doing.

Dave’s singing is crap, I hope him being with Ed and Alex makes his vocals better.

I truly love Edward, he’s definatley one of the reasons I play guitar, but this whole reunion thing, the porno soundtrack thing, going back on his word about Dave, rehab, not going to the Rock & Roll hall of fame, in his honor. There seems to be a lot of turmoil.

I hope it works out, I want to hear and see reviews before I shell out dinero. I have seen VH with Dave and Sammy numerous times. I love the classic songs with Dave, but he doesn’t sing as well as Sammy.

Whoever see’s the show’s first drop us a line here!!!

Greg V | 8/16/2007, 1:49 am EST

I hate to say it, because Van Halen helped create my love of rock music with the release of Van Halen I, but I will not attend this tour.

Michael Anthony was not just the bassist for Van Halen - he was at the core of its vocal sound, perhaps the secret weapon of the band. What’s more, Michael Anthony was the accessible guy in the band, the guy you wanted to meet and hang out with. Eddie and Alex were always completely unrelatable and unaccessible and Dave was out of his mind, but Michael Anthony was this great, friendly, awesome presence on stage whose bass solo was perhaps the only bass solo in rock worth watching.

Van Halen without Michael Anthony is not Van Halen, no matter who the lead singer. I think no true Van Halen fan, at least none in my generation who literally grew up on Van Halen and who know what it’s like to wait at the record store for the new Van Halen record to show up, none of us will go to this show.

I really hate to say it but all I’ve seen out of Edward Van Halen over the past 11 years is misguided ego trips, one after the next, and this so-called reunion tour is just more of the same.

God bless you Eddie, and thanks for providing the foundation for my love of music, but you’re done. Van Halen, this isn’t.

Well Ed's setlist is... | 8/15/2007, 8:05 pm EST

pretty great, but You Really Got Me instead of Jamie’s Cryin’? And Pretty Woman instead of Beautiful Girls? Or And the Cradle Will Rock? I don’t doubt Wolfie will rock on bass, but what about the vocals…?

Anthony Pittarelli | 8/15/2007, 2:14 am EST

well congrats to the first 5 cities on the tour, thats all itll last before they cancel the tour and eddie is drunk

O I did 812! | 8/14/2007, 10:25 pm EST

Although I don’t think Van Halen didn’t really rock until Sammy was there, I still like Diamond Dave. But how in the heck can they say this is a reunion tour without Mikey. Wolfie was not even conceived when VH was banging out tunes and he is supposed replace a vital part of the band.

Nika | 8/14/2007, 9:10 pm EST

I have to admit I love these guys and no one has wanted to see this more than me. But after watching the press conference I am having my doubts about this. I wish they would just do it and get down to playing there fantastic music. The love stuff and the hugging and all that we don’t need that it just makes me think they are trying so hard to make this work I just hope it is not over before it begins. Still planning on buying VIP tickets though tomorrow.

EDWARD...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO | 8/14/2007, 6:17 pm EST

Ya, I’m as big as a VH fan as the come! I’ve seen the boy’s 17 times including: 79-84 tours w/Roth & twice with Sammy.I paid a $100 to see the opening tour stop in NC 3 yrs ago to say goodbye to Edward.

This tour my friends is a joke.

I remember the 3 shows I caught during the 1984 tour. I broght binoculars and watched Edward. Roth was a clown.

Don’t get me wrong, VH wrote the soundtrack to my youth. Heck, I even became a man in the back of my car with VH ll on the 8 track.
Yet something tells me this tour will be like waking up next to a fat chick.

This is a bastardized reunion. Anyone who wants to see three quarters of van halen playing with Eddie’s fat son on bass is an idiot.

Steve | 8/13/2007, 4:24 pm EST

The Original lineup’s two primary songwriters are present, and the two most inimitable musicians are present (Eddie and Dave). So Mike wants to hang with Sammy, fine. The main dudes are there for us to dig. I never thought this would happen, so I’m not gonna bitch about that.

HollywoodRockStars | 8/13/2007, 4:01 pm EST

David Lee Roth and Van Halen live in concert!!! Very nice. I have a huge smile on my face right now. I will happily be in attendance at your live rock concerts. You guys are the original HollywoodRockStars. Thanks for all the great music. Fans…remember that rockers have *ucked up relationships like all of us. And, being in a band is a job. We’ve all *ucked up relaionships and changed jobs. How many relationships and jobs for me since 1978? Answer: a lot! To quote an old Van Halen song, “come on guys give me a break. One break comin’ up!” See all you real rockin’ Van Halen fans at the live shows. I am praying for a new album as well. Spoil us…we really love you guys. Looking forward.

Sincerely,

Eddie must be a huge prima donna. I mean, why have a “reunion” without your (arguably) best singer in tow. That is NOT Hagar or Roth, by the way. Michael Anthony stuck with these guys through thick and thin, and then EVH has another hissy fit and puts his boy Wolfie in the band. What an ass! I don’t care how good Wolfie is, without Anthony it’s not a true reunion. It’s just another (cover) version of the band. It’s the backing vocals that keep Van Halen sounding like Van Halen, so
if Wolfie hasn’t got his vocal mojo working, this tour will suck suck suck. Everyone’s whose seen Roth over the past few years knows that he doesn’t even sing the tunes, he just enunciates every third lyric, while doing splits and jumping around the stage like a moron. Yay! Not.

Mike 5150 | 8/13/2007, 1:13 pm EST

I just want to mention that I am sooooo upset that Michael Anthony won’t be playing.

To me, this is not Van Halen.

I still have hopes that all this is a publicity stunt, and during the press conference, that pint-sized-whisky-drinking-mot her-f*cker will show up with his Jack Daniels bass, and they will announce the four are coming back… live in front of our naked steaming eyes!

I would pay upwards of $1,000 to see the original four play again.

With Wolfie on bass, I don’t think I would go to the show.

I saw the last tour, and sat in the stage, on Mikey’s side. It was CRAZY!!

He and Sammy signed my shirt and cap, and I did a shot of JD with Mikey. He gave my girlfriend a beer, and let us pull about four cool picks off his bass.

The thought of someone else yelling during the intro of Ain’t Talking ‘Bout ‘Love is VERY upsetting!

They should have waited until all four were together again to tour…

Socalrocks | 8/13/2007, 11:08 am EST

And another thing, The Police is a great band in their own way but dont ever compare them to a real band like Halen. What the hell is wrong with you? Get off the crack man.

Socalrocks | 8/13/2007, 11:06 am EST

I guess there’s interest here. Michael will be missed by me. Can Wolfie handle it? Can he sing back up vocals? Who knows but if they make the show I’ll be there. I just hope the music is great and Dave starts working on his voice early so the shows will rock. No way I’d pass a chance to see Dave and Eddie together again. Are you nuts?

FUCK ALL YOU 40 YR OLD PUNKS. OZZY’s brain is burned to a crisp, and his motor skills are evidence of that. He drags his left leg when he walks, it doesn’t even bend. OZZY is the god of heavey metal.DLR is 50 yrs old not 60, or even 70 like the stones, areosmith, etc. DIAMOND DAVE is in the shape of an athlete. Comparing zepplin, to Micheal Anthony when the original lead singer of VH has been gone for over 2 decades, but up until now it was real, no it was VAN HAGAR and most rock fans realize the distinct difference. They remastered the DLR era disc. 3 yrs ago, but not Hagar for a reason. 2/3rds of all VH sales are DIAMOND DAVE. It’s like Robert Plant to Zepplin, it’s like James brown to the famous flames, it’s like Jim Morrison to the DOORS. There is no ORIGIANL VAN HALEN without DLR. KEEP IT FUCK’N REAL DICKHEAD DIAMOND DAVE is as much of the rest of the band memebers who by the way are all VAN AHLEN’S the way it outa be. Pas the torch EVH good luck to WOLFIE, and congragulations to VAN HALEN FANS EVERYWHERE this tour is gonna rock.

jd | 8/13/2007, 3:05 am EST

No Michael Anthony means I don’t have to go out and fight for tix to this show. I went to The Police concert in June and it was excellent. If they can put aside their differences and tour, anyone can. If all four original members were gettin’ together I would just have to go, but now… I’m gonna pass. It has nothing to do with Wolfgang. I’m sure he’ll be just fine if not great. That’s not the point. When Page & Plant got togther they didn’t call it Zep ’cause they were NOT getting together with all the living original members. No John Paul Jones, no Led Zep. No Michael Anthony, no VH. It’s as simple as that.

LG | 8/13/2007, 12:34 am EST

I have been a major VH van since the 70’s. I have had the pleasure of seeing them live in concert seven times. It is understandable that most people think they are now too old to entertain, but let me tell you one thing, I would pay big money to once again, and probably for the last time, see the greatest rock band of all time. I don’t care if it’s Mike or Wolfie, it’s still VAN HALEN….

Beau | 8/13/2007, 12:00 am EST

AND, I’ll have to agree with what BG said. Likely, by the sixth show or so (if they even go out on tour in the first place) the guys will get fed up with each other and call the whole thing off.

I hope that doesn’t happen though. Me Wise Magic ROCKED, and I’d love for some more new music to come out of this thing.

Beau | 8/12/2007, 11:45 pm EST

Yeah, I know, VH fans are gonna hate me, cuz they think I’m hatin simply cuz I’m not shouting hurray, yippee!

Sorry, but I saw video of Eddie’s playing just a few months back. I was flabbergasted, and not in a good way! I could not believe this was the same man who used to make the guitar wail.

This doesn’t mean I’m hating! I’m a HUGE VH fan! Was weaned on his music, and have 25 years of guitar experience, much of which directly influenced by Eddie. He’s a staple in the world of guitar and I don’t think anyone (hating or not) could deny that. I think it’s safe to say, barring maybe Jeff Beck, that Eddie was rock’s first guitar god, and I have appreciated every lick he’s ever recorded with the hairs on my arms.

But be realistic here folks in what you can expect for this tour. This is not The Police. Those guys can still do what they did back then, hence the spectacular shows they are currently putting on. But VH was not a pop/reggae outfit. They were the quintessential “Party Band”. Screaming, running, jumping, flying, drinking, and backflipping on stage were the norm for them. How much of this do you think guys approaching sixty can do?

I doubt you’ll be seeing many flip flops from Roth. And I doubt he can do a leaping spinning rear crescent kick worth a damn these days. And while I give kudos to Eddie for pioneering the instrument as he has, he’s gone through alot since his day, and his playing has apparently suffered as a result. Again, I”M NOT HATING!

I wish the best for these guys on their tour. Truly I do. While it would be great to see the original lineup together, I doubt the lack of Mike’s presence is going to affect the show much. What’s going to affect the show is age, age, and more age. Sorry guys, rockers can’t do it like they’re twenty forever.

Hopefully, when they hit Atlanta, they will have already done a dozen or so shows so that they’ll be back in the groove of things as much as they can be. Then, if I’ve heard good things, and seen some sort of proof that Eddie’s playing has improved, then I’ll consider going. But before I fork out that kind of cash, I’m gonna need to see (or hear) some evidence that’s more compelling than the little diddy Ed did for the porn flick here recently……

TIJUANA 5150 | 8/12/2007, 11:41 pm EST

What the fuck are you talking about we dont realy see who Mike is really so if you say that finishit,i understand about Mike not being there but take it like it comes periot.About diamont DAVE (WHAT EVER DICK) that was then ,like you can asure something about being all of that no body cant say that, dont get me roung i wish that 2.He wiil try to do hes best, but heavy weight champ, dude have you ever here of OZZY stupit DICK,no more lightbolts for you(this is your brain on drugs)VH will kick ass,Wolfgang is a rockie but he is learning from the best guitar payer in the world,so give him a chace.Enuff said,be real for me VH rules no matter wath hapens in there band i will be there.

Knuckle Bonezz!!! | 8/12/2007, 10:56 pm EST

No “SIX” your the stooge, for dwelling on what you percieve as a negative. DLR was, is, and always will be regarded as the lead singer of VAN HALEN, and he’s been used to save the band on several occasions. Once again Valerie, and cocaine/booze have ripped EVH in half, Alex is living in a 3 bedroon condo, and they all need money more the Roth does. Roth had a great yr in 2002, and 2006 and once agian thanks to himself is about to have a monumental year maybe two. DAVID LEE ROTH with the whole HOWARD STERN thing, and before that the ROTH-VS- HAGAR tour which both got huge media attention has been in the media spot light far more than any of these other dolts over the past 4-5 yrs. Remember no publicity is bad publicity, and DIAMOND DAVE is the master of showmanship bar none. Anthony has road the coat tails of two great lead singers, and one legendary guitarist. Wolfie is being groomed to eventually be the guitarist, because his dad knows between cancer, and addiction it’s only a matter of time before he will simply be the YODA of VAN HALEN.Somewhere down the road there will be another much younger DAVE, or SAMMY. I think Eddy’s vision is his son will carry the torch well into the 21st century reincarnating VH, but for now little wolfie is under Daddy’s wing.KEEP OT REAL WITH THE ROTHBAND!!!!

Six | 8/12/2007, 8:16 pm EST

Fucking dolts that do not think Anthony’s presence will not be missed and that he played no vital role in VH are simply ignorant.
Yes, we wish the best for Wolfie and yes, Michael has been active with Sam, but if you have two brothers drinking themselves to death and not touring, as a musician, what would you do? Sit at home or go out on tour trying to relive or revitalize a important part of your life?

You may be able to find a better bass player who is more technically gifted then Mike, but the other things he offered are not so easily replaced. Background vocals and a “get off your ass and jam” aspect after Roth’s departure were Mikes cornerstone and even if you grew tired of his obligatory mid-show bass solo, you could not help but say to yourself “Well, at least somebody in that band is letting loose”

Those background vocals are also going to be pretty damned important about 1 week into the tour when Roth’s voice starts cutting, crapping out or simply failing altogether. (which in any of their older tours, always seemed to happen)

LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!!!!!!!!!I am amazed at the fact, that half of the post in here are from losers dwelling on the fact that the BASS PLAYER has been replaced. In this situation it’s nearly the equivalent of JIM MORRISON returning from the dead, and people bitching about a different bass player for the DOORS. Half of the people at these shows won’t even know who Micheal Anthony is. I’m sure they will know all about WOLFIE given all the media attention the bass player will be getting, because it’s EDDIE VAN HALEN’s 16 yr old son. Whatever, the one thing they can’t argue is DIAMOND DAVE has regained his title as HEAVEY WEIGHT CHAMPION OF ROCK-N-ROLL!!!!

5150TIME !!! | 8/12/2007, 5:48 pm EST

it was eddie and dlr that really made VH rock, and now they’re together again.
except, in real life, it’ll never happen just like every other planned reunion because dlr is sucha remendous douchebag retard idiot as a person.
that, however, doesnt diminish the fact that the guy can - could - perform and entertain like few others.

Oh yeah, one more thing; Eddie would NEVER go out on a shitty tour. Trust Eddie’s musical instincts because he is only the most important and innovative guitarist of our age (NO DISRESPECT TO STEVIE RAY VAUGHN!!!) Besides, Wolfie is going to kick ass!!!!! I am so excited!!!! LONG LIVE FUCKIN’ VAN HALEN!!!!!

Nika | 8/10/2007, 10:21 pm EST

Here’s a little Vanhalen story from 1984 Joe Louis Arena Detroit Michigan. I was sixteen years old and my best friend and I drove to Joe Louis arena after school to wait for VH to come to Joe Louis. They were performing there that weekend in those days they would sell out three nights friday, sat and sun. We took every dime we had and bought tickets from a scalper. Once we had the tickets we waited with a huge crowd outside a side door of the arena waiting for there limo to pull up. We wanted more than anything else in the world to see the greatest rock and roll band of all time. Well we were distraught when we found out the limo had pulled up to another door instead of ours. We figured we just missed them well we did king of sort of. So we were standing around there with the crowd. Then another limo pulls up and someone got out of it looked like a big fat man with a big hat on just pushed through the crowd everyone thought it was someone who worked for VH. When he got to the door he took off the coat and all the stuff pulled of his hat and his long blond hair came down. It was none other than David Lee Roth he had pulled a fast one on us it was him that walked right past the crowd we were all in shock. We also had crappy seats in those days no one cared about anything we managed to get as close to the stage as we could by standing on a rail next to the stage just holding on all night we were so close no one at the arena was worried about safety or anything. It was VH in there prime and they were terrific a memory I can never forget.

Sorry for the typo’s in the last post, but I was so pissed at some of the crap people have to say, on the eve of the biggest event in rock music in decades.Millions of people have been screaming for DLR to be back in VAN HALEN literally since they screwed up at the MTV AWARDS in the late 90’s.EVH has a coke problem, and he needed to cut down for awhile to get straight for this show. Be happy the dude’s not dead because he will probably be the first member to check out early, consider his past with addiction, and cancer.DLR may live to be 100, and wolfie will be the one who takes over for Dad if and when he can no longer perform. He’s being groomed for just that. It truely is what this is all about with him being on this tour, and Dad is swallowing his pride, and doing everything he can do to insure it’s a big deal, by bringing UNCLE DAVE back to save the band. Now everyone stop bitching. CHEERS, AND KUDOS TO THE ROTHBAND!!!!!

Knuckle Bonezz!!! | 8/10/2007, 6:45 pm EST

I am amazed DAVID LEE ROTH has been solo for 27 yrs now. The guy who who was there from the ground up putting flers up at BOB MARLEY concerts in Hollywood, and said to himself someday I’ll smoke joints that big. The lead singer who played as big a part as anyone else in the band from playing high school party;s to the WHISKEY A GO GO to MAJOR WORLD TOURS. Micheal Anthony has been wiht the band and a yes man to EVH for over 30 yrs now. Not to mention the dude has enough money and probably so fed up with the crap he could care less about this tour. I’ll give it up for SAMMY all day long wiht the CABO WABO thing goin, and once agian Anthony falls into another dream job. Smoke’n fatty’s and kick’n it. All that aside I keep telling you in the end they will all tour together, and once again the media will eat it up.

Wasn’t it Micheal Anthony and Sammy Hagar that accepted Van Halen into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.As for seeing Wolfgand,Ed,Al and Roth onstage, tha’s like watching a train wreck.
I’ll remember the band when they were together, fun happy and tight, with Mike being the back bone and Sammy on the pipes

Bearded Clam | 8/10/2007, 4:36 pm EST

Finally, after all these years, hell finally froze over and the original line up is getting back together and they’re gonna tour. It’s actually gonna happen…..sorta….

No Michael Anthony? What kind of shitty reunion is this? You could totally understand if it was just some insignificant miscellaneous dude on bass, but this is Michael Anthony we’re talking about. He was a huge part of this band for 20+ years.
Who’s gonna sing back-up vocals?
Tons of fans have been waiting an eternity for this to happen and it isn’t even the original band? What a joke.

Don’t bother reuniting until you’ve all kissed and made up, because that’s exactly what the fans want. That’s the whole point of doing a reunion.

Maybe Eddie and Alex should learn something from The Police, Motley Crue, Kiss, etc. Not all members got along when they reunited even after years of being apart, but they all walked out on stage together with a big smile on their face pretending to all be friends (not to mention the incentive of a shitload of money to do so).

Seriously, who wants to pay all that money to see 3 original members along with some teenage kid who was swimming around Eddie’s sack the last time these guys all played together?
Not this guy.

Sad thing is, they’ll still reel in packed houses and charge huge $$ and it’s still not the whole package.

Have fun you greedy pricks.

BT | 8/10/2007, 4:14 pm EST

I totally agree with the whole Mike Anthony thing. The guy should be touring with them. This is typical of ED. Always something with the guy. Even sober he’s wacked. This is almost like a sick joke. I’ll go to see DAVE though. I guess I always thought that DAVE& MIKE were always good buds, or am I nuts? It would be easier for DAVE if MIKE was there. DAVE WILL BE DOING SOME SERIOUS TONGUE BITING ON THE START OF THIS TOUR!

BG | 8/10/2007, 3:35 pm EST

Here’s what will happen, Dave will get fed up with everyone by the 4th show and Sammy will be brought in to replace him in true Van Halen self-imploding style.

Fuckyou | 8/10/2007, 11:55 am EST

Can someone tell me how to get a ticket, while I am living in Holland, and WILL fly to the USA to visit a show of my favorite band of all time.

Nika | 8/10/2007, 11:24 am EST

After reading some more of the comments this morning I think one person here put it best. It was Dufano’s comment:

“Vanhalen music is in my head. Vanhalen is in my heart” I have been a fan since I was 12 years old I used to by tickets with my allowance money to go see there shows NO JOKE. For me there is no other rock and roll bands they are the GREATEST !

Jamie | 8/9/2007, 11:59 pm EST

Holy crap, I can’t believe it!! A VH reunion tour sounds so sweet. But no Michael Anthony….please!! He is the true backbone and heart and soul of that group. I love Eddie, Dave and Alex. I love everything they have ever done. Sammy Hagar is amazing. U can’t have Van Halen without Mike. His background vocals and pure showmanship cannot be matched. Think of the songs…beautiful girls, runaround, just about every song on OU812. The way Eddie did him at the R & R Hall of fame induction was just plain wrong. Screw that crap, I will not be going. David Lee is done. He blows. Long live Sammy, and he will be rocking long past Eddie and the boyz.

KNUCKLE BONEZZ | 8/9/2007, 11:21 pm EST

Okey Kevin point taken, but it’s because they are still getting over the fact its’ old news, and they basicly don’t have anyone to replace that image. I pulled up DLR on youtube, and was comparing his solo band when he toured with Hagar, to the last 1984 concert he ever did with VH IN MONTREAL. Those old arena shows were so distorted and the back ground vocals was nothing but screeching. The ampitheater tours do the bands so much more jusitce. I wish they would have toured this summer out doors. Roth of course was halarious in all his performances. He is unlimited with the oneliners, and crowd enteraction. LONG LIVE THE ROTHBAND BABY!!!!!!

Kevin | 8/9/2007, 10:00 pm EST

Knuckle, I have’t been smoking anything. Everytime I turn past MTV or VH 1, it’s the same ole worn out crap time after time. And now alot of commercials have the (c)rap playing as “music” to sell products.

You’re right, the rappers don’t make the big bucks, but, that doesn’t stop the media from kissing their asses. If you haven’t noticed that, then you’re the one that’s been smoking something.

KNUCKLE BONEZZ | 8/9/2007, 9:14 pm EST

Kevin, I don’t know what you are smoking, but I want some. I’ll wait until the weekend to smoke it though so It won’t matter. that I’m sitting in a daze. The only media attention rappers are getting is how none of them are making any money. They are yesterday’s news dude. Britney, Lidsey, and Paris are the media’s disfunctional darlings. The STONES were one of the only musical acts to make any real money last yr. 2002 ROTH-VS-HAGAR was one of the top tours. So what does that tell you about the potentail of this tour? wait to answer that until after you come down from your mega buzz. HEY BUD LET’S PARTY!

Kevin | 8/9/2007, 8:41 pm EST

Like I seen in an earlier post, it’s the “NASCAR wreck waiting to happen tour” coming to a city near you.

Will it be five or six weeks when Dave and Ed start butting heads and start traveling separately?

Or will it be Dave getting mad at Wolfgang because he made a mistake and Ed steps in to defend his son?

I hate to break the news to some of you, but the media is not going to give them alot of attention since the media has their heads up the rappers asses.

Knuckle Bonezz!!! | 8/9/2007, 7:52 pm EST

The 50 dates being announced on monday are just the 1st leg of the N. American part of the tour. The STONES are a bunch of 70 yr old washed up has beens pretending to be what they were. Jagar acting like a girl on stage, it’s almost as sickening as having to look at BOY GOERGE. Have you seen DLR on stage? I have, and he is ripped, and looking like an athlete, because he is. Pull up YOUTUBE and watch some of his concert footage, and you’ll see why he is considered the GENUINE ARTICLE. He is the prototype for what all ROCKSTARS aspire to be. Endless oneliners, he invented what so many since him copy on stage. VAN HALEN is Limpe biscuit meets Jimmy Buffet, meets led zepplin, and on, and on, and on. VH is so deep most people cann’t even comprehend, and grasp, how talented they really are. I include Hagar, and Anthony in that.

petesasauce | 8/9/2007, 7:50 pm EST

This tour is very simple: It’s the Dave and Eddie reunion. Plain and simple. This is NOT a Van Halen reunion. It cannot be without Mikey on bass & BACKGROUND VOCALS. I’ve been waiting for this (no joke) since 4/1/85, so I have to go see them, but they need to get Mikey back in the band. It’s a very nice gesture for Ed to have his son tour with them…but that’s not Van Halen. Nuff said…

Sean | 8/9/2007, 6:22 pm EST

I’m glad to see that you guys are able to work thru the past and bring the band back together. I saw you first in 1978 and many times since. You guys have always been the best in my book. I have been waiting for this for the last 15 years. Please make sure that you make it to the Portlans area. The set list is awesome Ed. Thanks for doing this. Now it’s time for you guys to kick ass!!!!

Fitz | 8/9/2007, 6:18 pm EST

Wishful thinking TC, but history shows us that Ed is such a stubborn prick that he won’t let Mike back in, ticket sales be damned. They should just grab someone from Atomic Punks.

Best DLR Van Halen Tribute band PERIOD

how could they do this to M.A. | 8/9/2007, 6:09 pm EST

NO KIDDING THATS SHOW BUSINE$$, BUT DONT MAKE SUCH CLAIMS ABOUT ANTHONY RETURNING WHEN U DONT KNOW ANYTHING FOR SURE!!!

TC-San Clemente, Ca. | 8/9/2007, 5:40 pm EST

Show Busine$$ is code for ticket sales. Ticket sales will not be what the band expected right out of the gate without Michael Anthony. So, Wolfgang will play ten shows, go home, having played on tour with Dad and Uncle Alex satisfied. “Press release”, Michael Anthony to rejoin original Van Halen group and tour. Ticket sales instantly increase by 60% (sold out shows). That’s Show Busine$$.

Look everyone, this is Diamond Dave’s going away party. Enjoy the show for it will not come around to a town near you ever again. Dave always steps up to the plate and I believe that Diamond Dave will go out on top. Best Show ever! Yes! Michael Anthony will be called to join the band by the tenth show. How do I know that? Because that’s Show Busine$$.

shane5150 | 8/9/2007, 5:19 pm EST

hey knuckle bonezz!!After 23 years you think or belive that DLR W/VH tour is gonna make more than 400million(more than the stones?). VH is doing 50 shows, in order to make 400million they would have to bring in 8 million a show.(DON’T THINK SO!!!)What did you have for breakfast, a big glass of dumbass??? Make more money than the Stones, you make me laugh Knuckle boner I mean BONEZZ!!(is that you dogs name?)

jo jo | 8/9/2007, 5:00 pm EST

Fitz | 8/9/2007, 4:26 pm EST

It won’t sound the same without Mike on backing vocals. Then again I’ve never heard Wolfie sing. We’ll see. I wonder what the over-under on them actually finishing the tour is going to be. They were a great band but all these guys have to check their egos at the door. It’s not 1984 anymore, you can argue all you want but there really is no place for a Van Halen that’s been absent for the better part of a decade on modern rock radio format. Its one thing to be young, drunk and getting laid. When you’re 50 years old it’s something completely else. Guys, just remind us how much fun rock used to be and how it still has the potential to be once again.

willie | 8/9/2007, 4:25 pm EST

By the way,all you people who rip on Daves voice, and how he can’t sing, bla bla bla. You’re the ones who don’t have a clue.Has he ever sung really good live? No. He’s the show!

how could they do this to M.A. | 8/9/2007, 4:21 pm EST

Hey TC-San Clemente, Ca, is that a confirmed fact that they will bring back M.A. after the first ten dates?

willie | 8/9/2007, 4:17 pm EST

What’s with the doorknobs who comment about Gary Cherone, and how people should feel the love. You are complete morons! This is discussion about the return of VH. Everybody wanted this to happen, and now most of you don’t have anything good to say about it

theonug | 8/9/2007, 2:27 pm EST

There is no way this tour will go the distance! Dave is still on another planet, not to mention his voice is shot. There is no way he can be a team player for 50 shows, his mind is gone. He just put out a Bluegrass album of Van Halen/Roth tunes, that tells you a little somethin about where his mind is at. And now its 3 Van Halens against 1 Roth, 1 moronic move by Daves ego and it’s all over! Check out Youtube on the band and Dave and you’ll see he’s a few cards short of reality. Frankly, I would love to see it work, but I aint gonna bother buyin tickets unless the tour starts in California! lol

TC-San Clemente, Ca. | 8/9/2007, 2:00 pm EST

Wolfgang Van Halen will play the first ten dates. Then they will bring Michael Anthony back to complete the line-up. As far as Dave’s performance, He is now 52 years old and if he gives me 90 minutes of his very best…his best will do. Ed, practice, practice and more practice until your fingers bleed. Dont let me down. Alex, if you nail Hot for Teacher, I will be a happy camping concert goer. There is no drama here, it’s called SHOW BUSINE$$

michael from europe | 8/9/2007, 12:57 pm EST

I’m a huge VH fan. Perhaps Eddie and Alex are fed up with things they can not trust. And thats why they chose someone in the family, someone they can trust to play and stay.

VHROX | 8/9/2007, 10:58 am EST

I will be there. Screw the haters. Jelous bastards I say!!!!!!!

Hwatney | 8/9/2007, 10:45 am EST

What? No Mikey? Then no me! You’re gonna banish Mikey for being friends with Sammy? Mikey and Sammy are the only two of these clowns who still have any class. I am with River City Rascal…huge fan from back in the day but sick and tired of the drama. Eddie himself said he didn’t care about the fans, and he’s shown it. So why should i care? Now if you’ll excuse me I am going to go listen to Diver Down.

Hands | 8/9/2007, 10:23 am EST

Why believe recorded tracks are going to be used? Where are you getting that from?
Look, “modern” rock offers nothing in terms of consistent musical production. There’s a void that VH can fill, although I think they’d be better off to bring Sam and Mikey along too, and bury the hard feelings.
Now Journey is looking for a lead singer. Maybe Schon will bring Perry back.

river city rascal | 8/9/2007, 10:00 am EST

If they want the true VH sound, they will have to use tracks for Mike’s background vox. So how much of this is going to be a “live” concert? There will be more electronic equipment and more activity backstage than there is on stage! That is, of course, unless Ed is pissed at Dave.

dman | 8/9/2007, 9:17 am EST

Why would anyone expect them to show up for a tv award show when they won’t even show up for the ultimate honor - the hall of fame induction. The two with the most class showed up. Dlr couldn’t sing Jump - boo hoo. I agree with EPA and HARMONYLESS - you gotta have Mike, and that’s why I won’t go to the show.

Why are detractors of this band referred to as “haters”? I don’t hate anybody. I think some people are simply tired of the drama, the broken promises, the bad decisions, etc. Why is that so hard to understand?

As for the MTV Awards? Oh yeah, let’s not forget what happened in 1996.

You are asking two of the biggest egos in the music business to play nice on the same stage. Only time will tell….

KNUCKLE BONEZZ | 8/9/2007, 8:11 am EST

The fact is half of the post in her are from a bunch of HATERS. The fact remains this is the biggest thing to happen in rock music in years. DAVID LEE ROTH, and VH will be getting indorsements offers coming from everywhere, and I’m sure they will be at the MTV MUSIC AWARDS.Only the very elite bands can even compete with this kind of popularity. I mean the LYKIN PARKS, and bands that are at the very top of there game. As for the long run VAN HALEN will probably end up bringing SAMMY, and Mike up from CABO WABO and put everybody on stage together. Look at the attention and succeess of the ROTH-VS-HAGAR tour a couple of yrs ago. No 0ther band has the fire, and drama of VAN HALEN….

ROLLINGSTONE ??? | 8/9/2007, 7:40 am EST

Wake up ! Next cover — DAVE/EDDIE

epa | 8/9/2007, 7:40 am EST

you gotta have Mike to get those classic Van Halen vocal harmonies…just because he wasn’t up there wanking doesn’t mean he wasn’t important…and if I had to hang out with any member of the band I know he would be the most down to earth…get it right and get Mike in there!

Harmonyless | 8/9/2007, 3:48 am EST

Did anyone hear Van Halen 3? Hmmm….. that album sounded like shit. Why? No background vocals with Michael Anythony. ED sang background and well..enough said. The last 3 songs with Sammy on the BOBW album, also sound weak. Why? No Michael Anthony on vocals or bass. There is your answer to the sucess of this tour. Take MA out of the equation and you will fail. He has always been the foundation of Van Halen. Period. There is enough proof to go around.

Van Anthony | 8/9/2007, 3:35 am EST

Huge VH Fan. But the facts are-
DLR - No voice, cant sing Running with the Devil anymore. Saw him in 2002. Awful!
EVH- Saw Ed in 2004. Played like shit. Even in his prime, he played drunk and pulled it off, but now….forget it.
And finally, listen to the first 6 VH albums. Michael Anthony held it together. Who is going to sing Jamies Crying, RWTD, Dance the night away, Bottoms up, Lost control, Unchained, Where have all the good times gone, Happy trails, Dancing in the streets, etc…….are they Fuckin crazy? Trust me, they will SOUND LIKE SHIT. I bet you they will use tracks for vocals. Alex is spinless.

SugarMama | 8/9/2007, 3:11 am EST

Rolling Stone magazine sucks!
…and has no nose for news.
Who knew when Van Halen was in their prime touring to promote their 1984 “tour of the world”, that Rolling Stone magazine wouldn’t even give them the proper consideration(which they rightfully deserved)to put them on the front cover of their magazine. Instead, RS chose to put the irrelevent has-been loser Bob Dylan on their front cover and sideline VH on that same cover page as “rocks two headed monster”. Fast forward 23 years and RS magazine finally wakes up and decides to put whats left of VH on their front cover -a “day” late and…

SugarMama | 8/9/2007, 2:18 am EST

Van Halen still can’t get it right. If they could just quit their bickering and get the original 4 members back into the band (at the same time)and release a new studio album then maybe they might be able to redeem themselves -like Aerosmith- as the world class band that they once were.

how could they do this to M.A. | 8/9/2007, 1:35 am EST

Ditching Michael Anthony, perhaps for maintaining a friendship with Sammy Hagar, is a vindictive move that hurts the fans. Obviously the least visible member of Van Halen, Anthony, if you really, really listen, provides an ingredient to Van Halen that makes it more delicious than, say, Kiss or Motley Crue.

KNUCKLE BONEZZ - are you retarded? Some ass monkey DJ said there are parties all over the country to celebrate VH announcing a tour, and you believed it, then decided that it was credible enough to post here. What kind of friggin’ 13 year old toolbox are you?

VHoldiesshow | 8/9/2007, 12:31 am EST

From 77-84 with David Lee at the helm, Alex and Michael providing the backbeat, and Eddie providing the beautiful noise, Van Halen was the best party band and one of the best bands period. Now, over 20 years later without a new album to tour behind it seems like a nostalgia cash-in to pay the bills. If your expecting a bunch of 50+ year olds to pick up where they left off, forget it. Like the Police Tour, until they get a head of steam behind them it will be more miss than hit if it lasts that long.

Martin | 8/9/2007, 12:18 am EST

If Van Halen plays in a stadium and there’s nobody in the audience to hear them, do they still make a sound ?

DIRTY DAVE | 8/9/2007, 12:14 am EST

oh yea, lets not about Gary! He was to Van Halen what Timothy Dalton was to James Bond movies! Blew a golden opportunity!

supersonic: “Believe me, he’s got enough of Dad’s blood in him to pull off Van Halen Bass lines”.

With so much alcohol sloshing around in Eddie’s blood, does that make Wolfie an underage drinker ?

NO Michael Anthony, NO VH!! | 8/9/2007, 12:05 am EST

It’s not just about Dave. It’s not just about the Van Halen Brothers and mini- eddie. It is about the INTEGRTITY of the complete unit or if you like “band”. I honestly do not believe the VH bro’s would have succeeded without Michael Anthony. He broke almost as much ground with the electric bass as Eddie did with the electric guitar. Need an example?? He played with Van Halen!!!

Eddie is one of the greatest guitarist that ever lived, however I can not justify paying to see a band when my favorite member is missing. Michael Anthony, unappreciated, consistent, talented, iconic, enduring, loyal and in the end treated like shit by the Van Halen brothers + 1. No thanks I will pass.

VH is my favorite alltime band. Never seen DLR live, but was a fan since about ‘79 or ‘80, and knew all the albums inside and out. Then comes Sammy. Not the “real” VH; different, but got used to it and accepted it. Saw a show of every album tour W/ Sammy. But it seemed like EVH turned into a prick about Sammy, and what happened to Mike? He gets booted for a teenager after all those years? (I don’t know the whole story.) Unfortunately, I just can’t get into it. I would pay any amount of $ to see the original 4, but that’s it. I can’t take this -who’s in,who’s out crap. The vh bros. just turned me off with the attitudes.

DIRTY DAVE | 8/8/2007, 8:05 pm EST

CAN EVERYONE STOP WITH THE DAVE QUOTES?!! THE GUY IS A PAIN TO TOUR WITH. THE VH GUYS HAVE CONFIRMED THAT IN THE PAST!! SO GOOD LUCK TO THEM TRYING TO TOUR WITH THIS GUY!!

Just to put in perspective, how big this deal really is. I was listening to the radio on the way hoME, and the DJ reported there are VAN HALEN party’s setup all over the country for next week to pop the cork on this party when the big announcmenet is made. I would just like to say CONGRAGULATIONS TO VAN HALEN FANS EVERYWHERE. Cheers and kudos to the ROTHBAND!!

this is for Redballjets just for your knowledge, Guns and Roses was Tracii Gunns and Axl Rose. I believe Tacii had an issue with Axl and split. Tracii went on to form LA Guns and Axl kept the name to do what he did. Tracii Gunns also played recently with Nikki Sixx on the Brides of Destruction CD. LA Guns is still touring. Axl….well who knows where he is. oh btw..VH Rocks.

Miss Taffy -

Now, now, don’t get yourself too worked up over nothing. There has been a whole lot worse posted here about Roth and VH than anything I’ve done. Not quite sure what your comments had to do with VH, but just thought I would clarify.

I have read in other forums that people are distraught because Eddie got a haircut. A haircut for crap sakes! That tells me some people ARE expecting to see the Van Halen of 1984. If you are not one of those people, then that’s in your favor.

I saw VH with Roth 14 times between 1978 and 1984 and, at the time, they were awesome. I saw them during their prime, but feel no need to revisit the past. You go and have a good time, Miss Taffy. Hopefully, Eddie will stay sober long enough for people to get their money’s worth.

BTW, my eyes and ears are excellent, excellent overall health and I must have my shower every day.

Miss Taffy | 8/8/2007, 5:52 pm EST

river city rascal-you could surely benefit from getting your eyes and ears checked. screw it, get the whole physical done. just make sure you take your yearly bath before you do.

I don’t think anyone here is expecting this tour to be exactly like when VH was in their prime, with DLR of course.

Regardless, there are so many fans still lovin VH and those of us that missed out on them back in the day. Unfortunately I never saw a show then because I was only 2 at the time.

But who Cares? True VH and DLR fans need, no, DESERVE one more chance to see them live before they fall off the face of the earth.

bayliss | 8/8/2007, 5:14 pm EST

How about a record you selfish bastards?

Love walks in is their greatest song!

Full Bug | 8/8/2007, 4:34 pm EST

They are two different bands and it depends on what you like. Bottom line is the table was set for Sammy. He gave into Ed and wrote crap like Love Walks in and When it’s love.

tnt | 8/8/2007, 4:18 pm EST

When sammy took over in 85 it truly turned into “van hagar” a much different band. like openening up a vintage bottle of wine or whiskey thats been locked away un-ceremonously, this band will take its moment on stage once again and to a whole new genreation that wasnt even born yet.

Response to Ed's Set list | 8/8/2007, 4:11 pm EST

BIG VH FAN, BUT CHECK OUT ED’S INTERVIEW WITH HOWARD STERN. THE GUY JUST USES, ABUSES AND CHUCKS HIS OTHER BAND MEMBERS (WITH EXCEPTION OF HIS BROTHER ALEX)LIKE THEY ARE JUST WHORES TO HIM. WITHOUT THE CHEMISTRY THAT THOSE OTHER GUYS BRING TO THE GROUP, ED COULD HAVE BEEN JUST ANOTHER JOE SATRIANI.

Louisville Pete 41 | 8/8/2007, 3:48 pm EST

I saw VH 3 times with Roth - A VH concert was the GOD of all concerts - Dave would just stand there on the front of the stage, not saying a word, and the crowd would go bezerk. Dave was/is the ULTIMATE frontman for VH. (Rock Monster U R WRONG!!) Eddie also changed the way the electrical guitar was played when the 1st VH album came. Every hard rock guitarist that followed in the 80’s was just trying to sound like Eddie. To have Eddie and Dave back together is a dream come true!! I loved Montrose & Standing Hampton and all, but Sammy just wasn’t the same. Dave is the real deal!!!

mike | 8/8/2007, 3:38 pm EST

eddie is good at guitar, but randy rhoads was better.

Nika | 8/8/2007, 3:26 pm EST

I have been a fan since the 70’s of the mighty VH. I am not convinced that this is real this time. Kind of strange but why wouldn’t there be anything concrete on there website by now ? Does anyone else think that old Edward is playing us again ? What do you guys think?

Response to Ed's Set list | 8/8/2007, 2:39 pm EST

When touring with Sammy, the set list always included the songs from the Roth era. So now when the tables have turned, Roth should be singing some of Sammy’s stuff too. Unless, Roth is really full of himself, he should give the fans what they want. Remember, Hagar lasted in the band much longer and had a lot more hits for the fans of VH! All the Hagar haters should also give Sammy a break coz he’s almost 60 now, and the eldest out of the entire lot.

5150 | 8/8/2007, 2:34 pm EST

ps…the set list looks GREAT can’t wait to hear it live.

Valerie B. | 8/8/2007, 2:32 pm EST

Hey losers,

This tour will be a joke!
Ed still drinks like a fish and smokes like a chimney.
DLR is close to becoming Wayne Newton.
Alex is half retarded.
Wolfgang is a great kid, but dumb as a bag of hammers.
Anway, please check out Jenny Craig for a succesful diet plan.

As a VH fan since 1980, I’m hyped up about this tour. I’ve seen them in concert 7 times as the “real” Van Halen (including the US festival) and once with Sammy. It just wasn’t the same with him. Can’t wait ’till you guys are back in L.A. Love Ya Eddie, you still ROCK my world! Hope to see you again!

Most of you whinners should shut the fuck up. If you don’t like what they are offering then don’t go.

If you all think your are so much more knowlegdable, then start a band and prove your worth.

Otherwise go to your local loser’s only bar and try to make yourselves feel like you have accomplished even a 5th of what VH has and pat yourself on the back for being a underachiever.

Get a life already!

Whatever the outcome, this reunion sure has tongues wagging! It’d be worth it to go just in case they wow the crowds. Even a washed-up Eddie would be worth it to me. And the spectacle DLR is sure to be may be a good laugh……at least one more thing to talk about.

Rock Monster | 8/8/2007, 11:12 am EST

VH forever. Loved Dave in the early years. But, he’s limited. Always has been. Sammy. His vocal range and talent compared to Dave, well, that is like comparing crap to flowers. Dave being the crap of course. Even so, o.k. VH reunion with Dave and without Anthony? Please, his bass and amazing background vocals are not going to be replaced by a 15 year old? sorry Wolfie, I’m sure your a great kid, but dad and unc can’t swallow some pride and ask one of the best bass players in rock to rejoin and are using you as a gimmick. Sorry VH, will keep my hard earned money in my pocket. Good luck…your going to need it!

rockn roll motts | 8/8/2007, 10:24 am EST

hey totally agree w markO eddie and alex great muscians but total assholes and babies samething w roth, i love both singers {even know sammy talent wise is light yrs better than dave} daves voice is shot , but he is a great showmen that will help, im goona go to the show bc being a rock fan i have to its my duty but it will be overpriced and probably average at best but i hope they suprise me.

Having heard VH live countless times with Roth, well, let’s just hope that Eddie’s guitar work is still pure greatness.
As for lead vocal….wonder if Patty Smythe is doing anything these days.

Where's Chinese Democracy??!!! | 8/8/2007, 5:46 am EST

Vegas bookies should start posting the over/under for the next meltdown from these diva bozos. I give it six weeks before they call it off again.

miss taffy | 8/8/2007, 2:14 am EST

well, DLR is an amazing performer, and every hair metal band in the 80’s aspired to be like VH. Just as a singer in a local band I look up to DLR a lot because he has so much showmanship and anyone in my position could learn something from watching him.

FrontierPsychiatry | 8/8/2007, 1:47 am EST

Some of you people that drink the David Lee Roth juice are funny.

Roth couldn’t hold down a job as a DJ.

He did a CD where he did Van Halen songs with a Bluegrass band. Wow, how impressive.

A few years past, Roth was so hard up for work he did the 4th of July concert at the Mall in Washington on PBS. He sang about three VH songs and looked like the leader of a gay pride parade.

He can’t and has never been able to put an ink pen to paper and write his own music.

He’s the most overated, overhyped, over marketed, wind bag that thinks he’s in the same league as Elvis and Sinatra.

And now, “the NASCAR wreck waiting to happen tour” is coming to a city near you, and features a singer that has done nothing successful in the last 18 years.

SUCKERS!!!

Harry Nutz | 8/8/2007, 12:47 am EST

The Police, Genesis AND Van Halen all touring in the same year!

This is what Rock & Roll needs, finally a kick in the ass.

There alot of bands out there that back in the Van Halen hey day years would be just bands.
Maroon 5, Panic at the Disco?
It doesn’t matter that they are in their 50’s now. Most of todays band can and will learn alot from Van Halen. Just go to www.youtube.com and see just how special they were back then and will be in 2007.

Brock Landers | 8/8/2007, 12:40 am EST

Here’s my 2-Cents:

As a life-time VH fan, this is what every “true” VH fan has been waiting for. Here’s what I think has been happening (behind the scenes) and what is to come:::::

Eddie has actually gotten healthy and better for all of the right reasons. Think about it, have you heard anything about him since he got out of rehab on a “bad” note? Trust me, Britney, Lindsey, Paris all LOVE the publicity and don’t give a shit about truly getting better. To me, this says that Eddie is truly committed to both himself and his fans.

I’ll bet he, Alex and Wolfgang have been working tirelessly on sounding….amazing. Yes, I’d love to see Michael but as they say…

“It is what it is”

David Lee Roth: My money says that he’s been working with a voice coach and will “shock” everyone. Think about it, do you think he and other’s in his camp don’t read the “reviews” and comments made by people?

The show will be “legendary.” Contrary to what I think many are thinking, this will not be a “thrown togther” show just for the money.

Lastly, I’m going to go out with this prediction……

A new album with all original songs. Not a “Greatest Hits” with 3 new singles.

Regardless, I’ll be front row in L.A. Orange and San Diego…..

“Talkin’ some new kicks one’s like you ain’t never seen!”

rebvodka | 8/8/2007, 12:34 am EST

all people are gonna see is teeth. the ‘84 presence returns. can ed handle it? if they blow this mid tour ’cause of some bullshit there over! like totaly over!

Still Kickin' | 8/8/2007, 12:31 am EST

I’m just happy they are giving this another shot. They could have thrown in the towel after the spring tour failed. You only get one time on this planet (unless you are Shirley Mclain). Don’t ever think you’ve gotten too old to enjoy yourself or your favorite music.

czyphopath | 8/8/2007, 12:07 am EST

what is wolfie 15? hes probably as good on bass as far as the music that needs to be played by his dad im sure. opening night in front of 40+ thou confidence wise? houston we have a problem.. remember when you were fifteen? i do, and nope.. trying to read in front of the class -ouch. i know theres going to be a sound guy backstage controlling his volume for one, and maybe a seeion bassist back there ready to secretly strum a note or two if need be. but then again he may just be an animal at it from the get go.

DLR Hater | 8/7/2007, 11:56 pm EST

Even if DLR can pull himself away from the bottle long enough to actually find the stage, he is still such a self absorbed idiot there is no way he be in front of thousands of people and not make a complete ass of himself.

Anonymous | 8/7/2007, 11:49 pm EST

Im still holding out for the reunion with Gary Cherone.

BigMouth | 8/7/2007, 11:40 pm EST

I wonder if Wolgang is really as good as EVH says he is.

Steven Millan | 8/7/2007, 11:31 pm EST

I just wanna see the mighty VH go out and tour,if nothing else !!

BigMouth | 8/7/2007, 11:22 pm EST

But, they have come a long way to get it to this point, so I do wish them the best.

BigMouth | 8/7/2007, 11:18 pm EST

OK, Let’s all bet ten bucks on how David Lee Roth is going to ruin the whole thing:

- rip on the other singers

- act like he owns the band

- act like he’s EVH’s savior

- show how out of touch he is with the fans and reality with all of his self-centered comments

- all of the above

I’ll bet on “all of the above”.

eb | 8/7/2007, 11:06 pm EST

As far as wolfie go’s ed never put much emphasis to bass lines in a song unless he was putting them down himself. i believe he looks at the bass and its player as the lowest common denominator in the band since he toys the low e so much and tunes down in his own work. nor the aknowlegment of its importance. so for
