The album and band that changed my life. Saw the guys open for Motley Crew in Lafayette, LA in 1987 and bought the LP the next day (CD’s were not even around.) From the artwork to the music….the album was magic…like a Holloween in the air, the whole LP had a vibe of its own. I’ve seen the band 4 times since and have met Slash twice. He is still down to earth and a great guy. A real inspiration as a guitarist. Thank you GNR.

I was 9 y/o when appetite for destruction was released and it changed my life, I listened to it everyday and was one of the reasons I became a drummer.
What happened to guns n’ roses years after was a real shame, they were eaten by the monster their music created and became a joke.
Mike Clink made a wonderful production and I agree that he never got the recognition he deserved.
20 years later I still listen to this album and get blown away by it, every single song is a classic, from welcome to the jungle to Rocket Queen, this record is any band’s debut album dream, Good ol’ rock n’roll

Mike Clink was the true 6th Gunner. He was their producer since day one. Too bad Axl became obsessed with ballads and Steven didn’t go to rehab, that band would have been the next Rolling Stones.

Top 10 All Time. | 7/29/2007, 2:39 am EST

Greatest Rock Records. Let’s not underestimate Mike Clink’s production contribution to this record. He said that the Guns’ identity was created during the making of Appetite. I never hear anyone give Mike Clink his due. He had a lot to do with this great record! Hopefully someone will do an extensive interview. I read one interview with him years ago. Brilliant, a great interview. Cheers, Mike!
