
Producer/sometime MC Swizz Beatz is slated to perform at today’s Peace in the Streets rally in Camden, New Jersey, a city that was deemed the most dangerous in the U.S. in 2004 and 2005 (Detroit was the proud winner of that distinction in 2006). The Camden Police might pull their support of the event, however, because of fears that Beatz’s track “It’s Me Snitches” promotes the unofficial (and very cop-unfriendly) “stop snitching” doctrine that many members of the rap community live by. Swizz counters that “Snitches” is simply a radio edit for the song’s actual title, “It’s Me Bitches.” (Swizz is such an upstanding citizen, he even worked on a song for the United Nations’ International Day of Peace). If only something less controversial rhymed with “bitches” …
