While most students are on summer vacation, a few rock stars are completing their higher education. Sixty-year-old guitar icon Brian May, who left school early to form Queen, is in the process of earning a Ph.D. in astrophysics and plans to submit his thesis, “Radial Velocities in the Zodiacal Dust Cloud,” to supervisors at Imperial College sometime in the next two weeks. Meanwhile forty-three-year-old guitarist Lyle Preslar of D.C. punk legends Minor Threat has also wrapped up his studies: he graduated from Rutgers School of Law-Newark in May. (Preslar worked at MTV’s legal department last summer and recently published an award-winning article analyzing a copyright lawsuit the RIAA brought against XM Satellite Radio.)
