7/23/07, 4:30 pm EST

Photo:The PoliceYou’ve read our take on Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland’s reunion jaunt — now let’s hear yours. Have the shows on The Police reunion tour been a gift from the heavens, just worth the price of admission, or a total disappointment?

Just saw The Police in Melbourne at the MCG on Australia Day. They must have really improved since the US leg as they were incredible. Sting’s voice was strong, Copeland’s drumming was frenetic and the crowd were loving it. And the minute Sting strayed towards boring, Coeland would crack his snare and boom! excitement. It has taken Sting too long to work this out. Definitely see them, fan or no fan. Fantastic concert.

Saw them in Los Angeles | 10/18/2007, 7:48 pm EST

Saw them twice in the 80’s. This time they were weak, andy was off key and truly for the price it was hard to shake the greed factor. If the Police can whore out by chargin so much for a ticket, who are the heroes of rock? I have no repesct for them anymore. Greedy bastards…

They Sucked | 10/9/2007, 1:53 am EST

I paid money to see them and they flat out sucked. The guitarist is dead he just doesn’t know it yet. And I liked the F’n Police but missed them in the 80s. STAY AWAY. Keep your memories, fond.

I saw Staples show, I’m a huge Police fan (saw the twice in the 80s) but the Staples show was a bit of a dissapointment honestly. Glad to hear the Dodger Stadium show was better, I chose Staples thinking it would be a more appropriate venue.

The police are one of the greatest bands the UK has ever produced. We are lucky they are back at all. If you think the tickets are expensive dont go, leave them for all the millions of fans who cant wait to see them.

PS: America, Tom Petty & Ringo Starr! I mean come on.

To the person thinking of bringing an 8 year old to the show in Hartford, I’d say go for it. I went to both Fenway shows and there were lots of kids there, some younger than 8. I have a 7 year old and was thinking it would’ve been great to have him there. Other than the infrequent whiff of some (ahem) smoke, and Sting telling us to sing “really f’ing loud,” there was nothing inappropriate.

Bostonian | 7/30/2007, 3:26 pm EST

Saw them the second night at Fenway Park in Boston. I was never a huge fan but always respected them for their solid songwriting and great rhythm section. I really enjoyed myself last night. The sound was ok for a large outside venue, stage design was nice and appropriate for their style. The screens, at least the one the left of the stage could have been bigger.
Sting delivered in his usual solid performance, Stewart Copland was a pleasure to listen to and to watch and Andy Summers remains a great rhythm guitar player. I was never a big fan of his solos and there he cerainly showed his weak spots during lengthy, generic and often off-key jamming.
And the show could have been even better without the triggered backing tracks and/or vocal range processing. I am not a purist in that sense though there always remains a certain element of “cheating” with that kind of technique (as tricky and difficult it actually is for the musicians to do). I only think a leaner and meaner sound would have been appropriate for the original line up. Everything else has already been done be Sting after the original Police days.

Great show given the fact that I paid face value for the tickets.

Going to see them tomorrow night in E. Hartford and I can’t wait. Question though, I have 2 extra tix and instead of having friends come along my wife is suggesting we bring the kids. My son has gotten totally into the Police and it’s great seeing him sing along in the car etc.. But I have great concerns about bringing an 8 year old to a concert, especially an outdoor one. We’re on the floor but towards the back. I’m just not sure how that’s going to work out. Any advice??

Monika. | 7/28/2007, 12:15 pm EST

All of the whiny babies complaining about how songs were slowed down to give them a “Sting” flavour–get informed please. Stewart Copeland spoke in a few interviews before the show that the band decided to do this TOGETHER because they’re (not surprisingly) in a different spot musically now then they were 20 years ago. I saw the Toronto show and thought it was amazing. Also, if you have a problem with the ticket prices, check where the majority of the charge goes to–Ticketmaster. Take it up with those rip off artists and don’t put it on the Police.

rockbutterfly | 7/27/2007, 10:59 pm EST

Dear Jacob Moon, Dig it,dig it,dig it!

Jackson | 7/27/2007, 1:55 pm EST

As an age 50 plus rock n roll fan I have been to many different bands’ shows in their prime and now as reunion/revived shows. I saw them 7/3 in St Paul and it was an OK show for history sake but disappointing overall. I average from $4,000 to $5,000 for concert tickets every year, and other than the WHO concert this year when they should have canceled because Daltrey had no voice and did not even come out for the encore, this is the first show in a long time that I feel ripped off on the ticket price. In interviews they talk about how they don’t need the money. For a $225 ticket off the floor on the side they should be donating 2/3rds of the money to a charity. At least the WHO had a better opening band - The Pretenders.

does anyone know what time the Police go on stage.. i’m going wednesday at MSG… the ticket says 8pm, but i may be late… when do they start? is their a supporting band?

saw them first in 81-82 ghost in the machine tour….of course they totally jammed since they were at their peak….juust saw them 25yrs later here in cleveland july 16th ….excellent again tho they are much older like the rest of us they still rock out.took my 19yr,old daughter she was floored thought they must of really been something back before she was born. definitely some songs missing….”too much information” “spirits in the material world” “behind my camel” but hey they can’t play all night though i wish they could have. price not withstanding it is definitly worth it.heres hoping they hit the studio drop a new disc and come around again.keep walking on the moon guys.

Jacob Moon | 7/26/2007, 11:45 am EST

I saw them in Toronto Sunday night, and they were totally in control, totally rocking every tune. Sting’s voice was bang-on, and that was mostly what I worried about. They took a lot of chances, which I liked, and they didn’t always work…some of Andy Summers’ solos were hideodorous…but all in all, the Toronto crowd was loving all over their favorite band. They have added a 4th night in this city, no doubt because they are lookin’ for some more love. Some of you all oughta be ashamed of yourselves for your Police-trashing. It’s priced appropriately for its once-in-a-lifetime status, and these guys are not phoning it in! They are bringing the rock—can you handle it?

marti | 7/26/2007, 9:29 am EST

I am 25 and I am a huge Police fan along with U2, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, etc…
But…. over $100.00 per ticket is just the stupidest f&^king sh&t I’ve ever heard of!
2 weeks ago I paid $35.00 for a ticket to see the great Bob Dylan and I ended up standing less that 200 feet from the man! For $35!!!
I’ve seen Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers twice for under $100.00. One of, if not the Best American Rock Band!
The point is although I love The Police and I love Sting, they are totaly raping their fans. the people that made them so famous!
The music industry is discusting!

Robert Jeffereys | 7/26/2007, 8:18 am EST

I am English and remember the Police when they first came along-for me just that little bit early for me to get ‘INTO’ as I was too young-oasis are MY band. Anyway I always liked them and was thinking of seeing them when they hit my part of the World.

However, I saw them on Live Earth and was so disapointed. So self indulgent and Sting Like!!! That Roxanne fifeteen minute improvisation/jam session was SO BORING! and then the next song they played received the same rambiling treatent-I fell asleep by the time it ended.

Today I heard Don’t Stand So Close To Me and it sounded so dated and ruined the illusion I had that it was a classic song. It sounded tinny and underdone and as I said so dated.

For me the Police make late night atmospheric ambiant type stuff -all sophisticated rythms. I still think they were good but I will not be on the phone to get tickets. I would go if I was given tickets I suppose but would not buy them.

Mac | 7/25/2007, 8:00 pm EST

Saw the show in Detroit. Definitely worth seeing for casual or hardcore fans. The set list is an interesting combination of ‘hits’ and stuff from the first two records. Loved the show. The show was not quite two hours.

On the other hand, many of the arrangements were slowed down. While it worked nicely on some tunes (Wrapped around your finger). Others songs were less successful slowed down..sometimes it seemed like they went with the same trick a bit too often and it occasionally killed momentum. Slowed down Roxanne and Walking in Your Footsteps were letdowns.

Overall, I’d recommend the show. The 3 are incredible players and it was nice to finally see the band.

Anthony Pittarelli | 7/25/2007, 5:32 pm EST

very good, well worth attending

John Kelly | 7/25/2007, 3:06 pm EST

Saw them in Philly and was not disappointed. Sound was good and light-show atmospherics did not detract from the performance. the arrangements of some of the songs were post-Police Sting, but that is not surprising. If you want to hear all the well-known Police songs and you want a smooth performance - go see them, I wasn’t disappointed

Saw them Sunday in Toronto, the whole place rocked for 2 hours of GREAT Police hits…everybody stood to watch their fantastic 2 hour show. I don’t care who says they’re not the same, i love them all anyway, it was great to see them together probably for the last time. ANYTHING Sting does is “magic”…luv you babe!

Chuck | 7/25/2007, 12:40 pm EST

I saw the Hershey show and was disappointed. As someone mentioned - 90 minutes is rediculous. I was lucky enough to see them on their Synchronicity tour. They were great. Rock/punk. What a bummer Hershey was. Everything was toned down. They lost their edge. Sting wanted to reinterpret their hits but he turned them into a setlist for a nursing home. Did anyone really get pumped at that concert except for a few songs? I doubt it.

Mic | 7/25/2007, 9:16 am EST

Saw the Police at Hershey, PA. They played for 90 minutes–a HUGE disappointment given the ticket prices. I enjoyed most of the songs, though I was, again, disappointed in their slowed down renditions–especially Don’t Stand So Close to Me. They took the wind right out of the sails of that one. Every Breath You Take should not have been an “encore” as it cooled everything off. De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da was just boring.

I liked some of the “depth” songs like So Lonely and Invisible Sun, though the latter was a bit slow and I would have rather heard Spirits in the Material World. Which leads me to wonder why the hell they didn’t play that song.

Overall, I’d give the concert a 6.0 out of 10. It was good, but not great. It was too short with moments of low energy.

norm | 7/25/2007, 8:07 am EST

I saw the Philly show a few nights back and thought it was a very good show. Sting sounded great and the band was tight. But I can’t disagree with the fact that they messed around with the arrangements on few too many times. Don’t Stand was obvious because Sting has been screwing that song for 21 years, but they totally took the life out of Wrapped Around Your Finger. And that’s a damn shame because that song is so great as it is. But when the band played the songs the way they were recorded it was truely a joy.

butlerbear | 7/25/2007, 1:43 am EST

I was very unfortunate to not see the Police when they were a hungry, balls to the wall band.

They were a rhythmic monster when they hit. They made all of us “Rockers” want to shake our asses a wee bit.

I believe the Police are best remembered as a dingy, scruffy, soulful, “smart” band playing small venues.

Synchronicity is an incredible album; but by then the “razors edge” was dulling. They couldn’t roll into the Aragon Ballroon or Mississippi Nights and tear it up anymore. “King of Pain” and “Wrapped Around Your Finger” are incredible songs that will be played on XM Radio and downloaded to I-Flux-Capacitors for years to come.

“So Lonely”, ‘Regatta De Blanc” and “Can’t Stand Losing You” will be getting played on the tar-stained juke-box at your local dive while you you enjoy a PBR.

Everything had to be made pretty for sorority girls and corporate fucks.

I’m not picking on the Police (but I bet there has been a CD named such).

I own all the Police CDs after owning all the Police albums. If you listen very close on a quiet night, you just might hear my “reciever” blasting out …

“The President looks
in the mirror and speaks,
his shirts are clean
but his country reeks.
Unpaid bills
in Afghanistan Hills”

Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll

saw ‘em in seattle, second stop on tour. i’ve been waiting over 20yrs to see ‘em, i was definitely hyped about it, and very optomistic.
in the end, they were pretty good. some songs where stronger than others, but it felt a little forced, a little fake

tyler | 7/24/2007, 3:53 pm EST

I understand the magnitude of the Police going on tour but do they have to charge what they are for the concerts. It is basically Sting with a new backup band.

Justin | 7/24/2007, 3:26 pm EST

All you opinionated bastards are lucky. The Police have yet to come to Iowa, which shocks me. Everyone knows that the corn state is Police country.

Flying Oatmeal | 7/24/2007, 2:49 pm EST

I saw them at Giants Stadium and thought they were okay.

However, during another band’s performance I went to the bathroom and was actually sitting in the bathroom stall right next to Sting, who was taking a nasty dump at the same time as I was!! It sounded like he had diarrhea and he was humming the “Roxanne” tune in between his farting.

When he came out I introduced myself but he just picked his nose and walked out the bathroom without washing his hands or saying a word.

arliss | 7/24/2007, 2:09 pm EST

Comparing what I saw in Louisville with the Rolling Stones, which played here last September, no contest. The Police couldn’t be a decent warm-up band for the Stones.

Wayne | 7/24/2007, 12:57 pm EST

Kurt | 7/24/2007, 12:36 pm EST

TOTAL RIP OFF. BORING.
A blatant cash grab. Arrogance at it’s finest. You can’t expect people to shell out huge dough to see your greatest hits/warhorses rearranged. Especially if you haven’t toured in almost 25 years.
The Police should be ashamed.

Michael | 7/24/2007, 12:34 pm EST

Saw them in Miami..Besides the field setup feeling like it was miles away and the band looking like ants, the show was just fair.
They destroyed a few songs and it felt like a short show. Not really worth the price.

Anonymous | 7/24/2007, 12:32 pm EST

Saw them in Toronto last night, the songs they played well were killer but the ones that were bad were just horrendous. Amazing rendition of Walking on the Moon though.

Sbach | 7/24/2007, 11:21 am EST

The link to the RS review doesn’t work. Nice job, guys. Oh, and while you’re at it, why not post some new DVD reviews - the ones from MARCH are getting a bit stale.

Hock Ptooey | 7/24/2007, 11:00 am EST

They are so over played on Sirius that it hardly matters.

Them and the Cure and the Ramones. Sirius is doing to “classic alternative” bands what radio did to classic rock bands. Overplay them until they become background muzak.

Jesse | 7/24/2007, 10:15 am EST

Saw them at Bonnaroo and I was very disappointed, which I hate to say because they are one of my favorite bands. Stewart was awesome, but Andy seemed lost half the time and Sting acted like he didn’t want to even be there. The chemistry between them was not very good. It also wasn’t very good between them and the audience as well. A lot of the songs were slowed down and jazzed up, which made some of the jams really boring. Thank God for the Stripes the next day.

Trudie | 7/24/2007, 9:36 am EST

First off: Ringo Starr is a mouthy old rag. Judging the Police by their first night back after 24 years is playground banter. His all star band is more boring than a Foreigner reunion. The Police smoke any band out there right now. Let the stew simmer before you pass judgement on the recipe. The world always seems to hope for failure…these guys are more talented, musical and succesful than any of us will ever be. Half these bad responses are from failed musicians. The Police still kill it.

I was at the last ever police concert in 1984 and that night i saw a power trio thats how i remember the police. Three guys who all contributed evenly to the sound of those songs and to that band.Yeah sure sting wrote the songs but they are police songs and sting you are not the police. So play the bloody songs how they were ment to be played and the way the fans want them. Jazzy slow police keep it in your solo career AND LET THE POLICE DO WHAT THEY DO BEST. Stewart and andy have been open for 20 years to reform the police and the fans have waited and hoped and Hello sting wants TO RETOOL the songs. The only tool here sting is you sadly its to little to late.To all those fans who want to fork out a fortune to go see the police i say go for it but for me i say fuck you sting…. i always thought the great rock n roll swindle was the sex pistols ?

Finally a reunion tour to get excited about. I attended the Las Vegas (MGM Grand) concert and it was fantastic. The grand Garden doesn’t have the best acoustics (terrible) yet the Police still sounded great! They should have not changed some of their songs though. Sting’s son has talent and Fiction Plane will get better.

I’m a huge Police fan. I saw them very recently when they played at Joe’s Bar & Grill here in my home town to 25 people and they were great! They opened up with “Every Little Thing You Do Is Magic” and half way through their set Sting vomited on the stage floor because he was so trashed and let loose with a series of loud farts. They then played “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” right after Sting got done farting.

Also during the song “King of Pain” Andy Summers proceeded to play guitar with his teeth and behind his back! Damn it was absolutely unbelievable.

This is a concert I will never forget!!

dpc915 | 7/23/2007, 8:26 pm EST

I am beyond a huge fan of this band but I can also be honest. I saw them in Philly and it was incrediable…Stings voice was on, Andy played well (not much telecaster though!) and Stewart is far and away the greatest rock drummer and retains the title. some audience memembers didn’t like the new twist on some songs (Don’t Stand So…) but I thought excellent….lets hope maybe some new material from the spirits

everywhere | 7/23/2007, 8:07 pm EST

Bonnaroo they were ok not there scene. Live Earth four songs can’t really judge. Cleveland they were amazing you could tell why people where so excited to see them and they sound conveyed well indoors

saw them at dodgers stadium. great. great. great.

Mikey R | 7/23/2007, 7:30 pm EST

Now Copeland is havin my baby…

Tom | 7/23/2007, 7:27 pm EST

I saw them at their second show starting off in Edmonton. I was very disappointed. They have mellowed out all their songs and sound pretty boring. I could not get over how many times Sting fucked up on bass, wow. The one highlight was Copeland, unreal drummer.

BMOONGOTTS | 7/23/2007, 7:23 pm EST

I SAW THEM IN PHILLY N I THOUGHT THEY WERE AWSOME. THEY SOUNDED ON POINT AND UP TO PAR,WELL STING COULDNT REALLY GET THOSE HIGH NOTES ANYMORE BUT ITS WAS STILL GREAT.STEWART AND ANDY WERE EVEN BETTER THAN WHAT I EXCEPECTING JUST ABSOLUTLEY AMAZING

johnny | 7/23/2007, 7:18 pm EST

i saw them at bonnaroo last month, and honestly i was very disappointed., even beyond the fact that andy was playing poorly. they tended to jam some songs and just made them boring, losing all of the punk punchyness that made them so great in their prime. and i agree, they ruined “don’t stand so close to me” by tinkering with the chorus bassline too much. you got it right the first time sting. overall, their overexperimentation and lackluster, predictable performance made it one of my only disappointing experiences at bonnaroo. oh, and they cut their set short.

paco chaos | 7/23/2007, 6:55 pm EST

I saw them at Churchill Downs in Louisville, and I thought that they played damn good. But, I didn’t care for some of the retooling, especially on “Don’t Stand So Close To Me”. I would have preferred a longer set as well, considering the price of the tickets, and the lackluster opening act (Fiction Plane). But I went and saw them again at Quicken Loans arena in Cleveland, and the show seemed tighter and less forced. they still kick ass, but Andy Summers seems to be the best at stepping back into his role.

Tom M | 7/23/2007, 6:55 pm EST

Saw them the first night in Denver. They were awesome, especially Stewart Copeland. I took my 19 year old son cuz I didn’t want to go by myself. I haven’t seen my Police CDs since. He loved it!

Spoonman | 7/23/2007, 6:52 pm EST

Saw them in Pontiac, Michigan. They were so cool. Note for note, unreal. It was weird, though, because we had backstage passes, and I was with my girlfriend. Stewart Copeland tried to make out with me. At first, I let him, but then, I was like “Dude…..I’m a guy”. Weird night, but kick ass show.

Cheap seats not even worth it | 7/23/2007, 6:47 pm EST

I saw them in Phoenix and while I thought Stewart and Sting did great, Andy just plain sucked. I didn’t care for any of the arrangements, but I am sure that is just me. It just seemed sort of boring. Perhaps I am just not that big of a Police fan, but I would think that after holding out for this long the mothballs would be good and gone before injecting themselves into the scene, thus setting themselves up for this sort of ridicule.

GQLS | 7/23/2007, 6:45 pm EST

Saw them in Detroit with a friend who was there during our “Beatl…oopps..Policemania days”. Couldn’t have been more exciting or caused more goosebumps. You get what you want from the concert, just like life. The enthusium was there from the band and the crowd. If it weren’t for the mortgage I’d try to catch a few more shows!

RW | 7/23/2007, 6:44 pm EST

Saw them in New Orleans three weeks ago and at times they were good, at others the songs were indecipherable until the first verse. All in all I’d take my money back. Stewart Copeland is the coolest of the three (and most talented).

Jeffrey | 7/23/2007, 6:44 pm EST

Saw them at Wrigley in Chicago on night one. So good that we walked down to the ballpark on night two and listened from outside the stadium. It was The Police, but different. Andy Summers was good, and it was cool to see an old guy with grey hair (like me) up there banging away on the skins. Go Stewart!

i saw them the second night at wrigley and it was a lot better than i had expected. good energy and stage presense. sold out crowd thoroughly enjoyed them.

WC | 7/23/2007, 6:35 pm EST

I saw them on the Ghost & the machine tour, then the garbage Syncarnisity tour. Tramatized me forever. Will never attend another Police concert.

Lawrence | 7/23/2007, 6:08 pm EST

BORING!!!!! The Live Earth show they sounded beyond bad.

nightschool | 7/23/2007, 6:06 pm EST

Just saw them at Hershey, PA. Fantastic show! Any TRUE POLICE FAN from back in the day would have been more than pleased. Remember friends, some of what you get out of a show depends on what you bring. The Police brought the goods……..

Speedy | 7/23/2007, 5:44 pm EST

I saw them at Dodger Stadium, and the Foo Fighters opened up for them. The Foo Fighters blew them away, and I was wishing that the Foos would have done an encore instead of the Police.

johnny | 7/23/2007, 5:41 pm EST

I saw them at Bonnaroo this year, and left feeling like I saw a pretty good show featuring 3 obviously technically talented musicians, but wasn’t blown away by any part of their performance. There was never any real climax to anything they did… just low-key runs through their hits, with some short and heavily rehearsed-sounding solos mixed in. none of them seemed too excited to be there, and they definately didn’t have any particular chemistry.

if i had no idea who the police were before the show, i would’ve left thinking they were a pretty cool but slightly boring band that had great chops and wrote catchy songs. but they never did anything that made the show memorable.

Cheryll | 7/23/2007, 5:41 pm EST

Saw them in Dallas. I was yawning and wanting to leave early but stayed, determined to get my money’s worth. It didn’t happen. I appreciate artist retooling their songs. Is ’slow’ the only option they can think of? It was reaaly cool to see Stuart Copeland.

TPG | 7/23/2007, 5:40 pm EST

Saw them at Oakland Coliseum and Dodger Stadium. Oakland was a let-down. Neither the band nor the crowd was really into it. Hard to believe, because the place was packed with about 50,000 people.

Dodger Stadium was MUCH better. Maybe it was the Foo Fighters—or that they were taping this show for a DVD—but they were inspired, energetic and really focused.

Guess it all depends on which night you go.

Someone | 7/23/2007, 5:34 pm EST

I saw them when they were at the Oracle Arena… They kind of sucked. So did the Fratellis, which was also dissapoiting… the good news was the Fiction Plane kicked ass.
The Police added all this boring shit to everything, all new agey. It get really monotonus. The guitar solos were good though…

Beaver | 7/23/2007, 5:29 pm EST

I’ve seen Sting 6 times, but I never lived until I saw The Police in New Orleans on 6/30. It was amazing and you could feel the band’s chemistry in every note of music. Sting is might the front-man, but there were definitely three musicians on stage.

I hope The Police record some new music so we what twenty years apart changes their studio sound.

eh.

saw them at bonnaroo and what dude said in the thread about that show is right on.

I must admit that maybe the reason I wasn’t into them as much is because I was too excited to see the Flaming Lips directly after their set.

Definitely not worth the money some have been shelling out for tickets…I did hear the St. Louis show was awesome.

Anonymous | 7/23/2007, 5:19 pm EST

C’mon Anonymous, at least put a crappy name next to those comments. You must be one hell of a drummer yourself to say that Stewart Copeland sucks.
Sting was a MEMBER of the Police, not the whole damn band.

stagefronttickets | 7/23/2007, 5:16 pm EST

The Police are great. Sting is great. The Police as Sting (alone) is not great. www.stagefronttickets.com

For being a hard core Police fan, in my opinion they could do no wrong. I went to the Dodger Stadium show and had one of the most exciting experiences I’ve ever had at a concert.

On a more objective note though, It was slightly dissapointing that they slowed down a few of their tunes giving it more of a “Sting-like” flavor.

Performance-wise, if you’re going to the show to watch Sting jump up and down like a crazy 20-year-old, you’re still living in the 80’s. Don’t go there expecting that. You go because you love the music and it’s a once in a lifetime experience.

Instrumentally, they are still on top of their game. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to. The Foo Fighters opening didn’t hurt either.

booyakasha | 7/23/2007, 5:06 pm EST

$600 is the new rip-off

Chris | 7/23/2007, 5:03 pm EST

The Police were great in Phoenix. Everyone’s a critic.

Marty P. | 7/23/2007, 5:03 pm EST

I saw them at Dodger Stadium, and I must admit, I thought it was an AWESOME show.

m@ | 7/23/2007, 5:02 pm EST

LOVE the shows. LOVE the new arrangements. they’re different people and musicians now than they were 20 years ago…the songs SHOULD change.

andy’s solos are more ferocious. stewart’s still the best musician in the band and finally getting his due. and sting, well…his bass playing is as good as it was. but his voice just can’t do the songs the same way. so what? it’s still a better show than the stones who did everything exactly like you hear on the record. booooring.

i have tickets to 4 shows on the tour and am glad to have all of them.

but, i wish they’d add to the setlist. c’mon sting…would it kill you to put in “I Burn For You” or “Murder By Numbers”?!?! i know stewart and andy are game.

Mr. E | 7/23/2007, 4:59 pm EST

Saw them on 6/30 in New Orleans. It was good, but didn’t blow my mind. I totally agree w/Jeff about “Truth Hits Everybody”. Old age hits everybody too. My main complaint: Why doesn’t this band play songs off of Ghost In the Machine? It’s my favorite album, and all we get on this tour is “Every Little thing She Does is Magic”, and a half-assed “Invisible Sun”. hmmph.

Anonymous | 7/23/2007, 4:57 pm EST

Let’s face it, Sting was the police. The session back up roadies that he’s been packing around with for the last ten years are still better than two has been artists who weren’t that good to begin with. All you get from this new Police tour is a Sting concert with the last twenty years of hits dropped from the set list. Come on, trade “Thousand Years” for “Demolition Man”? LAME. although it will be cool to have a few more backstage fights to read about.

Larry Buchas | 7/23/2007, 4:55 pm EST

How many times can one stand listening to “Roxanne”, “Walking on the Moon” or “Message in a Bottle”?

I have already invoked the statute of limitations on these songs.

Message On A Website | 7/23/2007, 4:51 pm EST

Shortly…no. I saw them at Dolphins Stadium in Miami a week or so ago. I don’t know why, maybe it was the raw humidity but I just wasn’t feeling it. I’d of rather spent that money so I can go see Dave Matthews Band twice in West Palm Beach instead of once.

Dick LeGay | 7/23/2007, 4:51 pm EST

They sucked at wrigley. Sloppy playing, cheated notes, and overall boring

K | 7/23/2007, 4:50 pm EST

Still waiting to see them… I hate hearing that they keep slowing down songs. They need to drink some Red Bull.

Seth the Stallion | 7/23/2007, 4:48 pm EST

Saw the Police at Bonnaroo, and boy am I glad I didn’t shell out for any of their non-festival shows. Bland, boring, phoning it in all come to mind. Plus Sting seemed to think that everone at Bonnaroo was from Tennessee. Just sad, really. “We’re only touring for the money.”

Jeff | 7/23/2007, 4:43 pm EST

I saw them 6/20 at Staples Center and 6/23 at Dodger Stadium.

Both nights were the same exact setlist in the same order.

Staples sucked. Dodger rocked. Go read the OC register reviews of both shows. My sentiments exactly.

Personally I could do without the canned backing vocals and in my opinion “Truth Hits Everybody” sounds awful (slowed down and played in a lower key). The stuff from Regatta De Blanc and Zenyatta sound killer though.

Definitely worth seeing if you’re a Police fan. I won’t go again unless they start changing their setlist…but I’m sure they won’t miss me!
