Korn Won’t Cover Up Admiration For Prince, Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam Any Longer

7/20/07, 11:00 am EST

KornWhen Korn taped their MTV Unplugged earlier this year, the band stocked their set with unlikely covers like Radiohead’s “Creep” and a mashup of their own “Make Me Bad” with The Cure’s “In Between Days.” Apparently, this was a sign of things to come, as the band has started working on a full-on covers album. Though they’re releasing a new album of original material July 31, Korn have already banked a bunch of covers. “We’ve already done, like, ‘Love My Way’ from Psychedelic Furs,” said frontman Jonathan Davis. “We’ve done ‘We Care a Lot’ from Faith No More [and Nine Inch Nails’] ‘Head Like a Hole.’ Those are already recorded. We just gotta get in and do some more.” Up next: Prince’s “Erotic City,” Ozzy Osbourne’s “Diary of a Madman” and Debbie Deb’s “Lookout Weekend” as done by Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam.

They did a hell of a bang up job with Pink Floyd’s another brick in the wall and Metallica’s One, so why not keep it going. Korn has surely earned the right to experiment a little. The same little turds pitching a fit probably think that Word Up is a Korn original!!

some hot 80s groups? why not do led zeppelin, black sabbath, pink floyd, Eagles and Beetles instead? At least I know who these bands are and they are actually pretty cool. A korn cover of Stairway to Heaven or Black Dog? I think that would be interesting. And a cover of paranoid and war pigs? How about Revolution, Jumping Jack Flash, Life in the Fast lane, Dark side of the moon and Money? I’d buy it.
