Just over a month after its record label’s first-ever release, Starbucks has announced a partnership with iTunes and NBC Universal that will expand the coffee giant’s attempts to entertain us with more than just pricey lattes. Starting today, the Seattle company will be selling digital EPs from emerging artists via the Starbucks Entertainment section of the Apple music store. The first three acts to get the ‘Bucks treatment are country act Rissi Palmer, U.K. soul singer Alice Russell and U.K. pop band the WinterKids. Actual CDs will reportedly be available in Starbucks stores, which will also be carrying Saturday Night Live: The Best of ‘06/’07 starting August 28, a DVD featuring show highlights, dress-rehearsal footage, commentary by the cast and bonus outtakes from an arguably funnier show, 30 Rock.

Starbucks should just change their name to “The Baby Boomer Store” do you think a Doonsbury coffee table book is far off? Maybe the DVD of The West Wing? Dockers section?
If I was a 50+ rocker I would be begging Starbucks to put out my CD. For a new band? Not so sure….

don’t like starbucks? don’t go. walmart. same thing. it’s really that easy. seems to me that many people want to go to starbucks. no matter how much you complain about them, i don’t think that they are going away any time soon. i understand that it cool to be anti-dockers & everything, but some day someone, someone younger, will come along & think the things that you like & how you dress is stupid & you are lame too.

The times, they are a changin’. McCartney has always been a smart businessman as well as a brilliant musician. He wants to sell a record in today’s changing market – so like everyone else – he’s having fun, playing the game. He’s not a typical star today: between 16 and 19, his ass hanging out, and a million tattoos and body piercing all over his body – he’ll leave that to Keith Richards. He even writes his OWN MUSIC and plays his OWN INSTRUMENTS. Do people even do that anymore? To hit the top 10, when he’s 65 (a senior) in today’s sad and pathetic music market – I tip my hat to him.

I love the snide anti-SNL comment thrown in there. SNL has produced 30+ years of great comedy and satire.
30 Rock (whose cast is primarily SNLers) is a show in its infancy. So you hate the show that made 30 Rock possible?

Good to see WinterKids getting the exposure they deserve.
I have been following them for a while now and they really are fantastic.
