  • The episode of MTV Unplugged starring the Police has been postponed. The show was set to tape this Friday in Miami in a venue much smaller than the arenas the Police have been playing on their reunion tour. The rescheduled date is still undetermined.
  • The 1985 Madonna flick Desperately Seeking Susan will be turned into a musical on London’s West End, but will feature songs by Blondie, including an original track written by Debbie Harry.
  • Pogues guitarist Philip Chevron has pulled out of the band’s North American tour after being diagnosed with throat cancer.
  • Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has proven his devotion to rock by postponing knee surgery to finish the band’s summer tour, insisting he’s been limping around with a walking stick. “What do I do, go home? I gotta finish what I started,” Homme says.
  • Diddy’s rep has confirmed his split with his girlfriend, the mother of three of his children, Kim Porter.
  • Reports that Panic! at the Disco would collaborate with Gym Class Heroes’ Travis McCoy for a ’90s-pop covers album are false, as we now have word the compilation isn’t happening.

The Police are great and legendary…but please don’t tell me that the “unplugged” craze that was ever-present in the early-90s is coming back! Keep plugged in!

Hey OddJob,,,,a few good points comeing from you, but after putting Josh Homme down for takeing things to seriously, you go on to rant about recycleing old movies or material. Who is takeing what to seriously??

Part of the fun of these plays or movies is to see someone elses take on the original. It can be fun to see something that was “bad” to begin with take on a new life when figureing in the “camp” factor. Some of our favorite movies started out as on Broadway plays, and vice-versa.

All of us has the ability to NOT see, hear, or look at things we don’t like, its called personal choice.

And speaking of ability, how many original plays, movies, or hit records have YOU come up with?? This goes for you also, “StuperFly” (wow, real original name there, oh I get it, kinda like,,,,oh well, I think you get my point) How many original theatrical prenentations do you have under your wing??

Hey Sethyo, such hostility. Really now, get some help before you hurt your fingers with all those upper case letters.

Fact is, packed shows across the nation should let you know that some people do care about these guys, and will pay big bucks to see them

Hey “Big Nate”, stop reading or paying attention to things about the Police, it’s that easy. Even more easy is not taking the time to wright negative comments about something you have no interest in. Duh.

It has been a long time, nearly 20 years, but if you remember, the Police were cutting edge, top of the heap pop stars. Yes they do have an important place in rock history, even if you dont like them. And yes, they are “that good”, (or were), listen to Zenyata Mendata (sp?), awesome album, fun music.

ENOUGH WITH CRAP ABOUT THE POLICE!! NO ONE WILL, HAS, OR EVER CARE!!

riot act | 7/11/2007, 12:00 pm EST

don,t mind the Police, cannot be doing with Sting’s Mrs.

yogi | 7/11/2007, 11:58 am EST

The Police are good and important

Oddjob | 7/11/2007, 11:53 am EST

I agree with Stuporfly, by the way. Hairspray, Footloose, Big, Spamalot, The Producers… some of these musicals are great but aren’t there any original ideas out there? And desperately Seeking Susan is a comically awful movie, do we really need to recycle this sh*t? We can’t even recycle good movies anymore?

Oddjob | 7/11/2007, 11:50 am EST

Josh Homme takes rock music way too seriously. He’s always talking about pouring his blood sweat and tears into his records, things like that. He makes it seem like he’s not even enjoying himself, which is ludicrous for a guy who is making rock & roll for a living. It makes it so it’s not even fun listening to his records.

Big Nate | 7/11/2007, 11:21 am EST

Police are not that good or important.

Big Nate | 7/11/2007, 11:17 am EST

I am extrememly tired of hearing things about The Police.

Beast44 | 7/11/2007, 11:05 am EST

The Police are good not legends.

Beast44 | 7/11/2007, 11:04 am EST

Help me sting, I’m horney.

Beastly44 | 7/11/2007, 11:03 am EST

I’m so stupid. :(

abandonedstation | 7/11/2007, 10:37 am EST

Josh Homme forever. Kickin’ it old school but with a tangy new flava.

Stuporfly | 7/11/2007, 10:35 am EST

The theatre is dead…I know there are original ideas out there, and some incredibly talented writers and directors and musicians. Why do theatregoers have to settle for crap recycled from bad movies and TV shows?

abandonedstation | 7/11/2007, 10:32 am EST

Josh Homme is a king among men. Megaprops to him and all that shit. He seems like a really cool guy (check out RS’s recent interview), plus (and most importantly, in this style-obsessed culture) he can really fucking rock when he takes the stage.

Relationship pressures left Diddy with NO WAY OUT. He said, ‘MO’ MONEY MO’ PROBLEMS is why this happened, but rest assured, I’LL BE MISSING YOU, even if you can’t COME WITH ME’

stuporfly | 7/11/2007, 10:25 am EST

The theatre is truly dead.

Jungleland | 7/11/2007, 10:19 am EST

I’d take Blondie over Madonna any day of the week. (and Debbie over Madonna better still!)

I always had a thing for Rosanna Arquette as well….

They showed an old TV concert of Blondie from about 1978 on VH1 Classics the other night and they were already a bit shattered but sounded fantastic (Clem Burke is one of the best living rock drummers)
