If you’d like to replicate the “revolutionary music of ‘The Clash,” as Elderly Instruments puts it, you can purchase this replica of Joe Strummer’s busted-up old Fender Telecaster for a fairly reasonable $900. Stickers and other accompanying goodies were designed by Shepard Fairey of Obey Giant fame.

This looks like a collecters item that is cheap enough to play at a club! And its alot less that the 25,000 for the VanHalen replica. I oonly wish Fender made it and that I had $900.

You made a mistake. The guitar on the right is NOT the Fairey Tele. This replica is detailed at http://www.strummerguitar.com. the fender?Fairey version is on the left side of the picture.

Fender did make it. OBEY just helped do the stencils, stickers, and artwork.

Too funny! CBS engineer Simon Humphrey (1st Clash LP) and “Rope” producer Sandy Pearlman must be rolling on the floor, laughing! They hated the sound Joe got from the original…

Shepard Fairey is a copyright infringer. He exploited the works of a true revolutionary artist, Rene Mederos. He did not give Mederos credit until after he was exposed. That was in 2007. He stole from those works because 1.) Mederos had been dead since 1996. 2.) He assumed the Mederos family were Cubans who would never find out. Stop praising this rip artist.
