How has a video game leak turned into a guitarist/Guitar Hero debate on the proficiency of Slash vs. John Frusciante? Both are great in their own right. Why don’t you pick up a newspaper & learn something. Less time worrying about video games & the pecking order of guitar gods

i agree. john Frusciante is an awesome guitarest AS WELL as slash. they both have great solos, all though slash had more sucsess due to the band he was in (GNR)and the originality of his playing. Frusciante is exactly the same, but the red hot chili peppers are only slowly to get up there. they will surely go down with the stones, gnr, aerosmith…. they are both wonderful players and really when u get to a certain point in your abilities it is almost impossible to get that good. people just prefer slash to Frusciante or Frusciante to slash. they both were and still are brilliant guitar players.

I have very mixed feelings about guitar hero. Its nothing, nothing, nothing at all like playing guitar in real life so I can’t stand it personally, but I think its really cool that the game is getting kids to listen to classic rock again, a lot of the songs have impressive guitar solos and much more talented music than a lot of the popular music that is being written today.

If one must go head to head with Slash to unlock his character in this video game, that sounds like an almost insurmountable challenge.

The best thing about Slash is that he reveres Jeff Beck. The latter (Jeff Beck) is the world’s greatest living guitarist. He is also a hot-rod mechanic, a landscaper, an amimal lover and a vegetarian for over 35 years. Cheers to Slash and Jeff Beck. Steve Vai and Steve Howe are also awesome.

Um you can’t really improv on a video game, because its a video game. Learn real guitar.

Oh, and I think that the game should have Fender guitars in it, like the Stratocaster. I like the game as it is, but I just think it would be so much better, with some different things to do, and it would also be really cool, if we could be able to do some improv. like the real players do at concerts.

I think we should be able to create our own characters, whether it be ourselves we create, or other players who aren’t in the game, I’d create Jimi Hendrix, John Frusciante, myself, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Flea(for bass). We should be able to completly create a band, create the singer, guitarist, bassist, drummer, maybe rythm guitarist, anything, that would be awesome.

It’s like comparing apples to oranges. Slash has his niche in the rock world, and Frusciante has a different but equally impressive niche in the rock world. Slash can play some serious bluesy/hard rock guitar solos, but his songwriting chops can’t be compared with Frusciante. Look at Slash’s Snakepit when Slash didn’t have Izzy (who wrote the more memorable of G n R’s riffs) took over. Some really generic songs with some serious playing. Frusciante can solo, but it’s more atmospheric and “experimental” in nature. Less in your face, more subtle, but still a display of extreme talent, and he has crafted some of the best rock albums of the past twenty years. I just think it’s ignorant to tell other people they are wrong based on a preference. Can’t we just appreciate each guitar player for what they do? Silly, I know.

No sense comparing Slash to Frusciante. Both gifted, no doubt… for my money, Billy Corgan’s the 40 year old that is shredding the most right now, though…But yeah. Slash= Guitar Legend. You don’t put the RHCP guitarrist in the pit with Slash…
