Notoriously unreliable but always entertaining U.K. newspaper The Mirror has interpreted Lily Allen’s plans to one day get married, have babies and not be a pop star as a sign that she’s quitting the business imminently so that she can become a reclusive housewife. The paper reports that Allen “confessed” the following to the makers of a TV documentary: “[Being a pop star] is not something I want to be doing for 15 years.” She went on to admit that she eventually would like to “get married and have children and move to the countryside.”
Rock Daily loves an early retirement (or even just an early retirement rumor). Timbaland, Jay-Z, and David Bowie, Cher and Celine Dion have pulled this little trick in the past. But Allen has only put out one album so far (and she’s only 22 years old). Is it too soon to say goodbye to the “Smile” singer?
