Will Madonna Be the Next to Cameo on The Simpsons?

7/5/07, 5:47 pm EST

madonna

The latest bold-faced-name musician rumored to appear on The Simpsons is none other than Madonna. While we’re not holding our breath for the notoriously choosy Material Mom to actually eat anyone’s shorts, the notion brings back fond memories of our favorite appearances by rockers on the legendary show (remember the White Stripes’ underwhelming cameo?) Which rock-related Simpsons cameos do you like best? Here are five of our favorites:

How about Sir Paul Mccartney with Linda on the roof of Apu’s?

GhostofTomWaits | 7/5/2007, 6:12 pm EST

How about The Who tearing down the Springfield Garbage wall with Feedback from Pete Townsend’s guitar

SuperKnux | 7/5/2007, 6:14 pm EST

Ah, yes. The cameo by Sir Paul is fantastic. That whole episode is timeless actually.

Dude | 7/5/2007, 6:15 pm EST

Little Richard:

Homer: Woo! Purple Rain!
LR: Shut Up.
Homer: Wow. Michael Jackson just told me to shut up.

Mr Burns | 7/5/2007, 6:15 pm EST

“Have the Rolling Stones killed…”

chochi | 7/5/2007, 6:18 pm EST

Aerosmith playing at Moe’s for free pickle eggs.

Dave | 7/5/2007, 6:31 pm EST

U2’s appearance. Homer getting the crap beat out of him on the big Popmart screen while Bono was singing Pride (In the Name Of Love).

“He’s talking about sanatation!”

Josh | 7/5/2007, 6:49 pm EST

All great choices. But I cant believe no one has brought up George Harrison and Homer meeting at a Grammy afterparty..one of the all time best scenes EVER on the simpsons

George:Hello Homer. I’m George Harrison
Homer:OH MY GOD!…Where did get that BROWNIE!?”
George:Over there. There’s a whole plate full of them
(Homer goes over to gobble the brownies in traditional Homer fashion)
George:wow..what a nice fellow.

CLASSIC!

and of course, at the end when the Be-Sharps are reunited on the roof of Moes (Ala-Beatles last performace)
(George drives by in his limo,,sticks his head out)
George:It’s been done.

This is def. one of the best and my fave. Ramones is my other favorite.

Steve | 7/5/2007, 6:50 pm EST

Madonna was already on the Simpsons – or at least as much as she needs to be. The British made Homer take her back to the US in a bag several years ago.

Suck My Kiss | 7/5/2007, 6:56 pm EST

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS!!! awesome episode. awesome cameo.

The Thin White Duke | 7/5/2007, 7:00 pm EST

Actually, Pete Townshend’s brother voiced Pete in that episode with the Who. I actually just read that and was quite bummed.

IDIGJIMI | 7/5/2007, 7:00 pm EST

C’mon, Peter Frampton at Hullabalooza is the all-time classic.

Also, the Pumpkins in the same episode….
Billy: “Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins.”
Homer: “Homer Simpson, smiling politely.”

Runner-up: Phish, in the “Weekend at Burnsies” episode…
“Phish better see a prescription
or we’re outta here.”

Deib | 7/5/2007, 7:01 pm EST

Ringo calling marge and thanks for the beautiful paint she made of his idol. Amazing!

chris | 7/5/2007, 7:47 pm EST

The Who

The Thin White Duke | 7/5/2007, 8:10 pm EST

Yeah, the one with Ringo and the “It Don’t Come Easy” montage was great.

Wonderwoman | 7/5/2007, 8:17 pm EST

How about the episode that features the Smashing Pumpkins?

YourMomGoesToCollege | 7/5/2007, 9:23 pm EST

Cypress Hill hands down my favorite

david | 7/5/2007, 9:57 pm EST

oh yeah, Smashing Pumpkins hands down definetly~!

Ben | 7/5/2007, 9:58 pm EST

How about Bette Midler…as much as i hate her singing, you gotta love her picking up garbage and going postal on the litterbugs as they drive by

Fred | 7/5/2007, 10:02 pm EST

What are you a moron? Or just a Metallica fan. That appearance is nothing on the many other rock stars that have been on the show. All the suggestions on this board ie. u2, the who, smashing pumpkins and all those bands in the episode with them all are better choices.

Ben | 7/5/2007, 10:06 pm EST

ok, oops, bette midler isnt rock. i recant my statement of her and go with the nysnc…oh wait, they arent rock either. D’OH!
but seriously, gotta go with U2 and the Chili Peppers with Erik Marshall in Frusciante’s place

Steph | 7/5/2007, 10:39 pm EST

The episode with the Chili Peppers.

Krusty: How about instead of, “What I got, you gotta get it put it in you”, you say, “What I’d like is I’d like to hug and kiss you.”
Band: (earnestly, not sarcastically) Oh yeah! That’s much better.

Squishy Mon | 7/5/2007, 11:02 pm EST

The episode of Homer, Bart and Lisa going to the Lollapollooza concert to see Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins and Peter Frampton.

Krusty | 7/5/2007, 11:26 pm EST

Since when is Madonna “rock”?

Jesus, you guys are running out of ideas already, giving us lame gossip about the multi-untalented one.

Krusty | 7/5/2007, 11:28 pm EST

And please stop running pictures of her ugly mug. Seeing her and the Williams sisters the same day made me throw up my Pouilly Fuissé!

don't fuck with billy | 7/5/2007, 11:35 pm EST

smashing pumpkins a no brainer my fav band ever!!!!!!!!

siamese palloza | 7/5/2007, 11:36 pm EST

the smashing pumpkins a no brainer my fav band ever the best!!!!!!

Anonymous | 7/5/2007, 11:42 pm EST

“Johnny Cash is Homer’s coyote spirit guide. ”

THat’s the one. Awesome.

Close second as has been mentioned… The Pumpkins/Cypress Hill/Frampton one.

What’s that smell?

I dunno. Smells like Otto.

Fat Tony | 7/6/2007, 12:16 am EST

For some reason, my absolute favourite is Barney getting the Grammy from David Crosby: “You’re my hero!” “Oh, you like my music, huh?” “You’re a MUSICIAN??!?” Just the way he says it pretty well sums up what I love, and what I suspect we all love, about Barney Gumble

Travis | 7/6/2007, 12:16 am EST

Phish!!! Homer gets high!

Jables | 7/6/2007, 12:32 am EST

The tour Homer goes on in the episode with the Smashing Pumpkins/Frampton/Cypress Hill is the Hullabalooza tour–a loving tribute to Lollapalooza.

Buck | 7/6/2007, 12:40 am EST

It’s a four way tie with me

The “Homerpalooza” episode with the Pumpkins, Sonic Youth and Cypress Hill cracking one-liners at Lollapalooza.

The episode with Lisa, Apu, Linda and Sir Paul atop the Quik-E-Mart (I miss her too!)

George Harrison reliving the last days of the Beatles through the Be-Sharps

And of course, Bono having Homer get his ass kicked at a U2 concert

Honorable mention to Metallica, The Who, RCHP and Johnny Cash

T-Nasty | 7/6/2007, 2:30 am EST

Homerpalooza!!

“It’s only rock n’ roll camp” – Jagger

“..but I like it!!!” – Homer

Geoff | 7/6/2007, 2:37 am EST

How about the other David Crosby cameo where Lionel Hutz is getting tempted by a bottle of bourbon during a trial and calls up his sponsor, the Cros.

abertlambi | 7/6/2007, 7:44 am EST

has everyone forgotten Aerosmith’s appearance in the classic Flaming Moe’s episode. It’s really one of the best.

Guigui | 7/6/2007, 8:42 am EST

Blink 182 in Tony Hawk Episode

I hate Mike Anthony | 7/6/2007, 9:22 am EST

It’s Arik Marshall, not Erik

Rich | 7/6/2007, 9:41 am EST

Michael Stipe: (wielding broken bottle) You lied to us!
Mike Mills: Michael, no!
Peter Buck: That’s not the R.E.M. way.
Michael Stipe: You’re right. Let’s recycle those shards and get out of here.

designated drunk | 7/6/2007, 10:24 am EST

Your all wrong…..Ms.Krabappel holding Aerosmiths Drumer’s Drum sticks in the back of shi$$y car…original…classic

SAL | 7/6/2007, 11:25 am EST

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS!!!!!! that was a really good episode too and who can forget Barneys chant “we want chili willi! we want chili willi!!” lol, that was classic

of course | 7/6/2007, 11:36 am EST

“Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins”

“Homer Simpson, smiling politely!”

me of course | 7/6/2007, 11:43 am EST

I Cant believe no one has said the one where bart gets in a fight with the white stripes where the play “hardest button to button”

Tommy G | 7/6/2007, 11:50 am EST

Paul McCartney, the vegetarian episode

You don’t win friends with salad, You don’t win friends with salad!

Tommy G | 7/6/2007, 11:50 am EST

Paul McCartney, the vegetarian episode

You don’t win friends with salad, You don’t win friends with salad!

William Fearless | 7/6/2007, 12:30 pm EST

The White Stripes are one of my favorite bands, but I was really dissapointed by their cameo. I know they recorded at least an hour of material, so I was really suprised that’s the best they could come up with. My top 3

1. The Ramones (”Have the Rolling Stones killed”)
2. Red Hot Chilli Peppers (”Our lyrics are like our children, man”)
3. George Harrison (”Oh my God! Where did you get that brownie?”)

I’ll give an honorable mention to Jackson Browne and James Taylor

Sippycup | 7/6/2007, 12:59 pm EST

I know that the band isn’t cool, but I still laugh everytime I think about BTO playing the State Fair.

Homer – “Play the ‘Working Overtime’ part.”
BTO – “We just did.”
Homer – “Play it again!”

Ross | 7/6/2007, 1:01 pm EST

James Brown in the “Do what you feel like/Be Like The Boy” Episode
“Whoa, this bandstand wasn’t double bolted”

Also
Barry White
in the Whacking Day episode
Lisa asks him for help
“Anything…for a lady”
later bart asks, “you like snakes don’t you barry white?”
“Oh yeah, i love the sexy slither of a lady snake,”

Ross | 7/6/2007, 1:02 pm EST

Also
BTO rules and they are cool

Alex | 7/6/2007, 1:04 pm EST

When homer has a band and they play on top of Moes and George Harrison stops by and says “Its Been Done”.

Jeff C. | 7/6/2007, 1:15 pm EST

This would be the greatest cameo:

Bruce Springsteen turned down the chance to appear on The Simpsons, the show’s executive producer has revealed.

Al Jean: “Bruce Springsteen, we’ve pursued him and he hasn’t done it.”

Matt Groening, the show’s creator, added: “Yet”.

flynnie | 7/6/2007, 4:44 pm EST

The Rock and Roll Camp had some great lines:
Mick Jaggar to Lenny Kravitz “Hey Lenny, don’t you have a crotch to stuff?”
When Homer takes Elvis Costello glasses and Elvis “Oh no, my image is ruined”
Jaggar at the end of the camp, “Gotta go now Homer, the lawn doesn’t just cut itself”

The Ramones appearance, all 44 seconds of it, is priceless.

fakename311 | 7/6/2007, 5:15 pm EST

The Ramones was classic, but I’m going to go with The Tap.

“Ouch! my Plectrum hand.”

– Deleted

SlyNThaFamlyStowne | 7/7/2007, 2:16 am EST

Barry White(Whacking Day)1991
“I love the sexy slither of a lady snake… oh yeah!”

Sean | 7/8/2007, 9:34 am EST

How about “The Flaming Moe” episode? “You fell on Aerosmith!!!”

shin | 7/8/2007, 3:17 pm EST

i know he waan’t rock, but the simpsons should’ve had an episode with 2pac in it. r.i.p. the best rapper ever!

MaggieMay | 7/8/2007, 6:02 pm EST

The Moody Blues in Viva Ned Flanders, with Ray Thomas saying “I want Fattie!!!”

Sadly, it didn’t make much of an impression on my Simpson addicted son.

Synysteress | 8/3/2007, 12:22 am EST

Green day,metallica n smashing pumpkins.. I cudnt stop shrieking..lol

JK | 3/27/2009, 11:03 am EST

At the risk of soundling like a complete pussy at their mentioning in the midst of all these Rock Legends, I do have to Bring up N*SYNC. “Yvan eht nioJ!”

JT: “Word!”
