Live Earth Rio In Jeopardy, Rumors Spread of Secret London Performer

7/5/07, 9:14 am EST

al goreUnless a Tuesday ruling is overturned before Saturday, Live Earth Rio will be the second cancelled Live Earth gig, following the striking of the Istanbul show, which was axed due to little government and sponsor support. Lenny Kravitz, Macy Gray and Pharrell were among the acts scheduled to perform at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana beach, however police now say they don’t have enough officers to ensure the crowd’s safety there. Meanwhile, rumors are spreading that Justin Timberlake will join Duran Duran (with whom he is collaborating in the studio) as a surprise addition to the lineup for Live Earth London, which already includes Madonna, Genesis and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. There’s still no word as to whether Prince will make a Live Earth appearance.

That stings. You know that most media coverage is going to acknowledge the fact that Live Earth has not had the same support as Live Aid/Eight, which will sour the whole festival.

Too bad all the lineups are pretty weak. That doesn’t help, either.

The Lawyer | 7/5/2007, 10:01 am EST

I don’t see how The Police, Roger Waters and Dave Matthews Band at Giant’s Stadium Live Earth is weak but hey whatever, we’ll enjoy ourselves.

mmw | 7/5/2007, 10:17 am EST

al gore is desperate for attention. Coldest june in texas history. Global warming my ass. Excelsior!

Stuporfly | 7/5/2007, 10:32 am EST

It would be fantastic to see Timberlake join Duran Duran – From what I’ve heard of the collaboration thus far, it’s truly fab.

Gabe | 7/5/2007, 10:36 am EST

The lineups are all pretty solid, they’ve each got a couple big names, but they don’t compare well with Live 8.

Who cares? | 7/5/2007, 11:19 am EST

Not I.FVCK THE WORLD! I’ll be dead before any of this crap affects me!

Silly Millionairs! | 7/5/2007, 11:20 am EST

It’s easy to care when you are filthy rich! After doing 8-10 a day construction in the sun I could care less what happens to “our” world.

AJ | 7/5/2007, 11:22 am EST

The best thing about the Rio gig being cancelled, is not having to see (or especially hear) Macy Gray and Lenny Kravitz.

Don't Believe The Hype! | 7/5/2007, 11:23 am EST

Global Warming is made up BS so the ‘Bonos’ of the world feel like they matter. They don’t.Nor do I.Nor do you.

Alyx | 7/5/2007, 11:42 am EST

mmw, if you wanna go that way, where were you when Texas had all time highs last summer of 105 degrees? It was cool this June because Texas was getting FLOODED!
Yaright…it’s all hype…

abandonedstation | 7/5/2007, 11:50 am EST

Ann Coulture has some really good points. We should all just give her a chance.

TankCat | 7/5/2007, 12:09 pm EST

Al should go back to looking for ManBearPig. “I’m super duper serial guys!”

mmw | 7/5/2007, 12:26 pm EST

alyx,

That is exactly my point. it was hot as hell last summer. so when its hot, global warming. when it is rainy and cooler, global warming. you cant have it both ways. GW supporters seem to use every current situation to back the cause, making the idea seem bulletproof and inevitable. i suppose when i have diarrhea, global warming. Unpredictable weather patterns have been going on for thousands of years. this is nothing new, so quit making it seem like this is a brand new phenomemon. should we do something to help it- sure, why not. should we freak out and bash everyone who thinks otherwise- no way, i would rather see manbearpig run the country. and that is saying alot because al gore might be the biggest spare out right now.

me | 7/5/2007, 12:33 pm EST

forgot all about manbearpig; thanks for the trip to memory lane.

yeah | 7/5/2007, 4:13 pm EST

Glad someone mentioned Manbearpig. Now we just need to mention how that bogus study by a made up group said Al Gore’s house uses 10 times more electricity than an average home and how the global warming fears are just like when scientists panicked in the ’70s when they thought a new ice age was coming. Then we’ll have every Al Gore-themed platitude that’s been posted on Global Warming related message boards in the past year covered.

Shar | 7/5/2007, 6:16 pm EST

Why do you neo cons even read Rolling Stone? Doesn’t exactly seem like your type of magazine. Stick to reading the National Review and the Weekly Standard?

I see the Brand Name FUTURE Benefiting our world . and our FUTURE , working together
with all people and all countries ideas .
Here is the battle ive been fighting for years
for the people Voice of The FUTURE to be heard .I wish some one would help .
JUNE 26 07
To PEP BOYS OWNER
AND ALL INVOLVED
AND CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS
PEP BOYS
3111 WEST ALLEGHENY AVENUE
PHILADELPHIA, PA 19132
PHILADELPHIA COUNTRY

To the owners of Pep Boys, you brought this global battle on to me and the people who would benefit using the brand FUTURE to realize their ideas. This is being destroyed because of Pep Boys oppositions over the years I had created the brand FUTURE concept applying for the rights since 2000. I have built global value to this brand.
A representative of Pep Boys had indicated working with me a few years ago, and then a new agreement was drawn up that was contrary to the original stance. I was disappointed because I had relied on the word of the original intent. Money and power of your company is at issue here. The FUTURA tire of 1964 is separate from the brand FUTURE. If this company wanted the FUTURE brand, why hadn’t they applied for it before?
My intention is to have the brand FUTURE to have a global infrastructure that would help people. I would very much like to be part of this. A meeting with Mr. Jeffrey Rachor would be appreciated. Please recognize the global benefits of working with me.
If these rights go abandoned, Chantecaille has the Fraud agreement of 2004 set up to get global rights of the people to take this agreement which was set up by my own lawyer in an agreement that was misleading to me.

Your oppositions no. 91157538; 91157768; 91158277; 91158509; 91158520; 91158786; 91159159; 91164461; 91164602; 91165913; 91170501; 91173632 are destroying me and other people globally and their rights to use FUTURE for their own ideas.
Discovery Period to close: 8/3/07; Plaintiff’s 30 day testimony period to close 11/1/07; defendant’s 30-day testimony period to close: 12/31/07 and Plaintiff’s 15-day rebuttal testimony period 2/1408 is in progress.
Please respond to me concerning these attacks as soon as possible
Note the countries that countroled there technology was left behind of the countries that shared there technology wanted to work with other countries and people Please repond asap Stop your attacks on us the people and our Future
