Whitney Houston’s 1990 I’m Your Baby Tonight came out before SoundScan started keeping track of album sales, but reached number three on the chart and has been certified platinum. Her post-Bobbi Kristina album? 1998’s My Love Is Your Love, which debuted at number thirteen with first-week sales of 123,000. Total number of post-baby studio albums: two.
Madonna’s 1994 Bedtime Stories debuted at number three, with sales of 145,000. Her post-Lourdes album? 1998’s Ray of Light, which debuted at number two with 371,000 albums sold. Total number of post-baby studio albums: four.
Gwen Stefani’s 2004 Love Angel Music Baby opened at number seven with 309,000 sold. Her post-Kingston album? 2006’s Sweet Escape, which opened at number three on sales of 243,000. Total number of post-baby studio albums: one.
Britney Spears’ 2003 In the Zone opened at number one with 609,000 copies sold. Her post-Sean Preston album? She hasn’t come out with a record of new material yet, but 2005’s B in the Mix: the Remixes didn’t fare so well: It entered the chart at number 134, with 14,077 sold. Total number of post-baby studio albums: zero.
