Ted Nugent Blames Hippies for Divorce, Abortion, Drugs and Crime

7/3/07, 2:22 pm EST

Ted Nugent

It was only a matter of time before Ted Nugent decided to rain on the Summer of Love’s anniversary parade. In an article from today’s Wall Street Journal titled “The Summer of Drugs,” the notoriously opinionated guitar god took some time off his busy hunting schedule to blame “stoned, dirty, stinky hippies” for “rising rates of divorce, high school drop-outs, drug use, abortion, sexual diseases and crime, not to mention the exponential expansion of government and taxes.”

Highlights (including some choice words for Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin) after the jump:

  • On the Summer Of Love: “Honest and intelligent people will remember it for what it really was: the Summer of Drugs.”
  • On Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Mama Cass: “I often wonder what musical peaks they could have climbed had they not gagged to death on their own vomit.”
  • On the hippie movement: “Turned off by the work ethic and productive American Dream values of their parents, hippies instead opted for a cowardly, irresponsible lifestyle of random sex, life-destroying drugs and mostly soulless rock music that flourished in San Francisco.”
  • On life as the Nuge: “Clean and sober for 59 years, I am still rocking my brains out and approaching my 6,000th concert. Clean and sober is the real party.”

I bet Janis, Lennon, Hendrix, Mama, and Jerry would have something to say about this if they didn’t intoxicate themselves to death. Grow up and listen to Slayer like a true “counterculture rebel.” Why beat around the bush and talk about purple haze when you can just write a song with a chorus that states, “I do acid.” Hippies have no balls.

Zod | 11/15/2008, 10:20 am EST

Yeah, his first album with AD went out of print years ago. I kid you not though, there’s a song on there called “Why is a carrot more orange than an orange?”

Doesn’t sound to me like Ted and the boys were hangin out drinking draft beer to come up with that one. “Hey dude! Why is a carrot more orange then an orange!” Lol!

No Joe | 11/15/2008, 1:57 am EST

Was Ted always anti-drugs, anti-hippie? I’m not so sure of that after listening to his early albums with Amboy Dukes. Dates back to around 67′ or 68′.

child of the sixties | 10/28/2008, 4:45 pm EST

Are you kidding me?!? The summer of love was all about challenging everything the government & your parents where cramming down your throat as to what being a good citizen (sheep) was. Get a job, pay your taxes, raise babies that will do the same, and for heaven sake don’t question your government about what your tax dollars are funding.

Now, the whole sex & drug thing was really about rebelling and taking non-conformacy to the limit. Because really… did the hippies invent sex & drug use? Uh no, both have been around since humans stood upright. The only difference is the media coverage. Think about how big the hippie movement would have been without the media fueling it on?

Now if the hippies would have just tuned in more and turned on and dropped out less, we might be in a better place right now.

solerso68 | 10/25/2008, 3:16 pm EST

Nugent is hypocrtical joke. He sold the rocknroll “gonzo” image for all it was worth. hes a joke of guitarist so he HAD to to make money. hendrix was serious musician and an artist, it was a tragedy that he died, but for nugent (who cant even play a hendrix lick) to exploit it for his crappy rush limabugh rip off radio show is disgusting. good see the”motor city madman” is still doing what he always did best! keep on being a joke ted! and the music world will keep on laughing.

Loretta | 10/24/2008, 11:43 pm EST

Conservorocker | 3/5/2008, 1:56 pm EST

I’m a right-wing rocker and I agree with most of Nuge’s political views, but he’s had more “irresponsible random sex” than most of us have maturbated to.He admits to have been a “wang dang addict” Had a child from a woman other than his wife as recently as 1995 and most all of his songs in the seventies were mostly sex, sex, and more sex.He tries to come of as some kind of super hero.He lived with the MC5,but never at least tried pot.
Yeah,I believe that.According to an article in High Times Magazine in 1977.He said all he ever got from pot and drinking were fog.Which means he at least tried it.Ted,it’s no big deal if you did.Your a human being you’re allowed to make mistakes, but don’t act like some Saturday morning cartoon All-American hero.
It’s bullshit and you know it.
I still love you and most of your view points just quit blowing smoke uo our asses.God,Guns and Rock ‘n Roll-Conservorocker

Richard's Brown Gerbil | 12/31/2007, 11:05 am EST

tobacco and booze are the two worst drugs anyway. And this buttmunch is addicted to killing animals and sex with underage girls.

I used to like his music though

Ex grunt | 9/14/2007, 9:52 pm EST

He does USO shows? The worst part is that this may be the last thing that some brave soldier see before he dies, can’t they get someone better, someone with talent?
If you think that the above is OK catch a SPED Nugent concert and jump off a bridge.

Sully the Veteran | 9/13/2007, 12:11 am EST

This asshole is always going around talking about how he supports the military. It seems that like most shit talking conservatives he never had the balls to join the military. I did the math and he was ripe for military service during Vietnam. It seems ,like those smelly hippies he always running his shit spewer about, he found a way to get out of the draft,or maybe he was too chickenshit to go. Or maybe they didn’t take pussy, bags of pigshit in those days. EAT SHIT TED THE SPED you are all talk. And your music sucks too.

Whats all this anti-Ted commentary about anyroad, fear or summat?

1. If Ted did shit his pants good on him, we’ve all done a bit of that when we were younger ‘ant we? (some people make a fokkin’ living out of it when they’re older)- I say better a good voluntary crap directed against leaders who want to send you off to the jungle to do it involuntarily for a stupid fokkin’ cause-death. Don’t fokkin’ follow leaders blindly says Carl Sagan. I fink it took bravery to do it if that story is true, which I doubt anyway.Don’t see Ted shittin’ his pants now though do we when he’s out in fokkin’ Afghanistan and Iraq while you’re at home playin’ with yer bong.

2. Good on Ted if he did try drugs ‘cos it gave him the bad experience everyone should have to put you off ‘em for life. And you gotta admit when Ted “rails” he has an effect, unlike you who dribble shit from all yer other orifices. Go bang some fokkin’ speed up your nose an rot yer fokkin’ cartilege.

3.If Ted did piss on a nun then why was she watchin’ him pissin’ in the first place? Seems like Ted was just exercisin’ the right to self-defence. Yowza.

4. Do please bring it on some more ‘cos I just Crave bein’ the English fokka who keeps pissin’ on your strawbewwies, makes ‘em grow big fat an’ juicy…
COMES ‘ROUND TO FRIDAY I’LL BE WAITIN’ ON SATURDAY NIGHT ROCK CITY HERE WE COME WE’RE GONNA ROCK OUR BALLS OFF TONITE HE’S ON A MISSION OF MERCY BABY AN’ HE’S DRESSED TO KILL WE’RE ALL WEEKEND WARRIORS THE DAMN YANKEE IS ON THE HILL! and to Max Buzz, what do u mean hes a lazy redneck hunter who shoots the easiest target he can? have you ever been deer hunting? or hunting at all? hunny it aint that easy! and makes way much more sense than hunting people if thats what your getting at… my whole family hunts bc the deer need it, if they dont get killed off they starve, and would you rather them suffer? its just a bonus that they taste AWESOME!

OMG! how are you all so pissed that he dodged the draft? i would too! shit! war is not something i think you should FORCED to go into!
i Agree that is was a shitty thing to say and i personally dont agree, but GET A GRIP! its HIS opinion, and you dont have to freakin follow if you dont like it!
And for all those calling him a hippie, hes not one! not a REAL hippie! he doesnt do drugs, he doesnt drink, HE FREAKIN HUNTS ANIMALS, hippie DOESNT describe him! and NEVER will!!!

The Summer of Love was a social disaster. 100,000 young people came to San Francisco. There were no jobs or housing for the horde. There were plenty of drugs and pimps. There were many overdoses, girls forced into prostitution, and ruined lives from this media fantasy.

pitman | 7/21/2007, 6:42 am EST

Ok Chris, I’ll kiss yours. Waz up with Rosie O’Donnell? You got the hots for her? Hippies? I wasn’t around any Hippies, I was too busy trying to stay alive in Nam. Nugent was the one at home living with the Hippies AND doing drugs I would bet. AND, Chris making sure he STAYS at home by filling his shorts with his urine and fecal matter which by the way he BOASTED about. I really don’t know of any TRUE AMERICAN who could stand in front of the nearly 60,000 names on the WALL in D.C. Chris and compare these heros to Ted “Shit in my Pants” Nugent. I guess you’re that exception - you must be proud.

pitman | 7/19/2007, 7:05 pm EST

Chris, I’m sorry what’s your last name, stupid. I mean you really can’t be that much of a moron. Hippies proclaimed love and peace and therefore were upfront about not serving. Your septic tank buddy states “He’s warlike”. Well stupid, arn’t “warlike” people the first to voulunteer to serve their country?? The only thing that Turd Nugget served was fecal matter and urine to his shorts because of his cowardice. What happened to his warlike attitude he says he has??? Tell me the truth stupid, are you having an affair with him. That’s not a bad idea, you can share each others jockeys.

JustPlainDB | 7/19/2007, 3:12 pm EST

Hah… WildB… good man, good man..

Big Jim…. hahahahahahaha….Ted is Right? Right about what? Ted’s game is to keep his name in the public media blitz… the name of the game is “No Nuge News is bad news, any Nuge News is good news, regardless of how ridiculous it makes hims sound.

Lecturing hippies on sexual morality is a hoot… Lecturing hippies on the service to their country is a hoot. Nuge dodges the draft, says he went to college for a deferrent, then says he never went to college, then when he is no longer eligible for service, he tags along with Toby Keith on USO tour, fires a machine gun from a helicopter and proclaims himself absolved of his former NON service… as if he has the power to grant his own immunity.. Hey Nuge.. you aint the Vice President.. only that office can pardon themselves…

Big Jim.. what was he right about again? I forgot…

WildB | 7/19/2007, 1:26 pm EST

“I have to tell you, until two days ago I had heard that song hundreds of times, and never knew who recorded it, or even its title. It’s called “Journey To The Center Of The Mind,” and it was recorded by the Amboy Dukes in 1968. Their lead guitarist was Ted Nugent. Take a look at the album cover.

What you are looking at is a really impressive collection of marihuana paraphernalia. Right in the middle of all those hash pipes and such is the title of the album — coincidentally also the title of the song you’ve probably heard a zillion times. Personally, I’m satisfied beyond any reasonable doubt that this “journey to the center of the mind” is induced by ingesting marihuana smoke, if not other stronger psychotropic substances.” (http://www.conceptualguerilla .com/?q=node/686)

pitman | 7/17/2007, 9:57 am EST

Forget politics left or right Rep. or Dem. it doesn’t mean shit. But as a Vietnam veteran I must say I know a coward when I look into his eyes. The night that I looked into Nugent’s eyes at the Memorial Union, University of Wisconsin Madison October 26, 2006) to call him out for his cowardice when he admitted to urinating and defecating in his pants for an entire week to avoid serving his conuntry during Vietnam. He actually boasted of this disgusting deed in the Detroit Free Press (July 15, 1990) and other publications. Anybody that sides with this pile of dung heap must have just pulled their tongue out of his A-hole. Nugent should be hanged by the Govt. for treason.

Can’t change the spots of a leopard, Turd Nugget. No matter how you measure it, you’re still a phony, lying, filthy, yellow-bellied coward. Get your urine soaked, fecal stained, army-fatigued, costumed ass down to the Vietnam Memorial in D.C. and apologize to all Vietnam veterans with the major news media there to document the hypocrisy and lies that you’ve been living.

Rock for the most part is progressive and thinking music. A few throwbacks like Ted are to be expected. Just look at the quality of the ‘music’ he’s made to put it in perspective. Like Gene Simmons, he’s a businessman who learned just enough music to be a success, NOT the other way around. Like any other right-wing hater, you just have to wait till he’s caught with his own hand in the till. “Repent ye wretched sinners/Self-righteous clown”

nordstrom | 7/13/2007, 1:52 am EST

My favorite line from his moronic new song “Love Grenade” has got to be “and I’m about to blow.” I hate to break it to you Nooge, but you’ve BEEN blowing (and hard) for a long, long time now.

Ted Nugent is such a hypocrite!! Eva is you’re out there and reading this… I know many attorneys who can help you go after this scum for never supporting you and his child. Yep …another illegitimate child!!
He certainly has no right to criticize anyone!!

tired of celebrities | 7/10/2007, 7:15 pm EST

Ted has been saying the same old things over and over since the 70’s. WHY do we have to listen to celebrities? Because of our right to free speech? The average person cannot call the local TV, Radio, Newspaper, Magazine, Internet sites and just talk about whatever.
We don’t have that kind of clout and that is what makes me bored with Ted. Who made him my “dad” and why do I have to listen to his lectures, oh, that’s right he gets paid for it. All he has to do is pull out his old interviews and memorize them & spew them back out. Your boring now Ted, say something different, just once!
I was a teenager in the 60’s and you all are giving to much weight to the hippie movement once it was over we all turned into are parents, just like they said we would.

I tried to look around on Nugent’s message board but he wants to be paid $20 bucks for the displeasure. Ted how do you pass through doors with that ego of yours? Now just sit back and watch your board die a slow death. $20?????? lol You’ll have about 1/2 dozen ass lickers by this time next year as members. Maybe you can drop them a line every now and then so they will have something to fondle themselves by while they thump their chests about how our US Military should be kicking so and so’s ass. Of course none of them can do that sitting in front of a computer monitor and you had your chance to fight in a war and pussied out. Coward.

You know, Ted Nugent was one of my rock n roll heroes back in the day. His music was great. BUT, drugs come in many forms. Lust is just as much an addiction as smokes or alchohol. C’mon Ted, be realistic. You couldnt stay with one girl to save your life, now could you? You were going around poking different young girls all the time. Who is the hippie now? Its not nice to talk shit, when your sittin in a big pile of your own. Stick to being an introvert or a musician, man. Thats what you were best at. Wango Tango baby!

Hi Jerman,

adrenalin and musical creativity in the same song like this below:

We’re shakin’ to the rhythm, we’re letting it flow
We’re not afraid of time, it imprisons your mind
We’re livin’ in the body, and we’re doin’ just fine
Tell me, tell me that you love me….

“I’m Not Afraid” ( 1984 ) by Roger Hodgson

…and without any use of dangerous conditionings typical of the so-called “Summer of Love”.

to be a ‘one hit wonder’ you have to have had one hit

Mitch Fellers | 7/7/2007, 1:58 am EST

I thought Ted liked the “random sex” part of the summer of love. Ted is symbolic of modern conservatism in that he hates everyone else’s freedom while demanding his own. Oh well,he’ll likely die in the jaws of one animal(A reincarnated Mama Cass?) while entirely focused on one he is hunting…

Randy Germain | 7/7/2007, 1:52 am EST

Damn Yankees?

Not on drugs?

Then what’s his excuse?

Right? | 7/6/2007, 9:41 pm EST

If he is so irrelevant why are you taking so much of your time writting these long winded negative comments? Maybe you’re all the hippies or offspring of hippies he is talking about. Could it be you need to stop borrowing your moms computer to surf RS and go out and get a job?

and Eric Cartman is right! Hippies f#cking suck!

Wow. I love hearing opinions from people that quote from cartoons. How very intellectual.

bat chain puller | 7/6/2007, 5:21 pm EST

Once again, Ted Nugent is sharing an opinion that doesn’t amount to much. The basic thing to take away from the Summer of Love is that for a brief moment that musicians, the culture, the audience and the record companies were willing to experiment and take a chance. Because of that alone, the year 1967 stands out as the most important year in rock and roll history. If you strip away the cliches, the drug casualties and the rest of the bad memories that people dwell on there was alot of useful things going on. People were not afraid of anything and they were experimenting with new lifestyles and sounds. Sure they were naive in some ways but they acted like true Americans and sought a new way to be pioneers. We could use a little of that spirit today. I mean what are you people gonna do for the rest of your lives? Play with your gameboys, eat Wendys and read People magazine. Come on man! The folks in the Haight Ashbury left a lot of great avenuse that yet to explored, you can take the lessons learned and continue the explorations. What’s the worst that can happen? You get weird and have a little fun? Up yours Ted Nugent! Leave the fear machine out of Rock n Roll.

I grew up in Detroit in the 60’s.The Amboy Dukes were okay, but not in league with the Stooges, the MC5,or Mitch Ryder. They were more of a second tier band.I think Journey to the Center of the Mind was a local hit, maybe it went national.I can speak from experience that the audience he relied on to attend his concerts and purchase his records were the hippies he decries. It’s hard to believe anyone in those days wasn’t getting high.He still has a following among hunters(you hear the Fred Bear song enough to make you puke during deer season in northern Michigan)and less discerning listeners who think classic rock consists of bands like his,Styx, and Kansas. The only way Ted Nugent even gets mentioned in a conversation along with Jim and Janis and Jimi is when Nugent offers some dumbass social commentary like this(by the way,I saw his wife several years ago on C-Span’s Washington Journal representing some women gun owner groups.Nice to look at,but very possibly the dumbest person I’ve seen in many years of watching that show-I can’t imagine being a dinner guest at the Nugent home without resorting to murder and/or suicide).

hibernation man. feel it,experience it, long live the nuge

Mojo Nixon | 7/6/2007, 11:46 am EST

As usual, here’s Ted Nugent with a random collection of off-the-wall, steaming horse-dump comments that serve no purpose other than to piss people off. The man is not constructive, nor does he ever have anything of value to add to the world of intellect. I wish I had a massive “IGNORE” button for cabbages like him.

Liz Dahmer | 7/6/2007, 7:59 am EST

Guns God Government!
This is why 6,300,000,000 people around the world are fed up with leftist Americans!
Get your shit together and neglect the Nuge stereotype

Russ H...BPCCman | 7/6/2007, 7:49 am EST

Thanks Pastor Nugent. I don’t have enough people pissing and whining about the way I’m and others are supposed to live thier lives life. Maybe instead of bitching about the way things used to be you could try and be relivent to the present time. I’m sure all those hippies are regretting all the “bad” things they’ve done. When you become relivent again than maybe I’ll listen.

Shutthefu@kupTed | 7/6/2007, 5:41 am EST

Addressing some of Teds points: He says that the Summer of Love was the Summer of Drugs. No it wasn’t, drug use in the USA peaked around the summer of 1978, the year of The Nuge’s last good album (Double Live Gonzo) and besides before 67′ the drugs of choice was alcohol and cigarettes; both well documented killers.
Terrible Ted then goes on to talk about what Jimi,Janis,Jim Morrison and Mama Cass (Died of a heart attack, not drug-induced)could have done if they hadn’t gagged to death on their own vomit.
I’ll admit their drug-induced deaths were a huge price to pay for the groundbreaking talent they had had but drug and alcohol- induced deaths are quite common among talented musicians who can never exorcise their inner demons. Billy Holliday, Kurt Cobain, John Bonham, Keith Moon, John Entwistle and Tommy Bolin also come to mind.
In regard to some of Ted comments about the hippie movement; other than his purportedly drug-free lifestyle (If he hasn’t taken prescription drugs, alcohol or any over the counter medications then he can claim 59 years of being drug free) he did the same things he accused the SF hippies of doing.
Some of his other claims that the hippies led to increased rates of divorce, abortion, drug use and the exponential expansion of government and taxes are the same ridiculous, simplistic nonsense Neo nazi-cons and the religious “wrong” have been spouting for almost 7 years as they gradually turn our country into a combination theocracy and banana republic. Nice try Ted, although rest assured you will probably be getting a call from faux news wanting to hire you as an anal-yst in their conservative “has-been” rock star division.

Mr. Tim | 7/6/2007, 2:22 am EST

who the hell is ted nugent

Marc | 7/5/2007, 8:25 pm EST

If most of the folks here knew a bit more about Ted, his lifestyle and his music without getting caught up with what they think they know about him, perhaps his comments could get a fair shake. During the late 60’s, Nugent was touring his ass off playing with the Amboy Dukes. He was probably the only sober one in the band and was cultivating his guitar chops during this period. In a documentary I saw, he blamed his bandmates’ drug use as the reason they didn’t enjoy more mainstream success.Whatever you think about Ted, he has always taken his music seriously. As a teen in the 70’s, I bought most of Ted’s solo CD’s and really enjoyed his music. His guitar playing has always been under-rated. I suggest that all of you listen to the remastered “Ted Nugent” on CD (which is awesome) and read up on him before making a judgement. By the way, I am a registered Democrat and happen to agree with everything he said.

patty loveless | 7/5/2007, 7:49 pm EST

Ted is so tuff that he dodged the draft from Nam and now with his little penis complex he needs to kill defensless animals…
What a loser

Why are the Wall Street Journal and Rolling Stone wasting space by printing the views af Ted Nugent? His act was played out in 1979. Next time why don’t we check in with what Leo Sayer thinks about hippies?

Eman | 7/5/2007, 5:23 pm EST

woo! THE NUGE! haha ted nugents awesome. damn dirty hippies and their drugs and abortions.

Garbage | 7/5/2007, 4:15 pm EST

Everything that comes out of his mouth is trash. He should just keep to hunting (killing innocent animals) and not comment on matters he knows nothing about.

miner cord | 7/5/2007, 3:53 pm EST

So what does he think ‘productive American dream values’ spells, in political terms, for his beloved hunting grounds? Doubtful he’s realized that ‘environment’ is synonymous with the places he goes to plug his critters. Lock target on foot and fire, Ted.

I have a response, “What?”

The Dude | 7/5/2007, 3:34 pm EST

Is this the same Ted Nugent who convinced a family to let him marry their underage daughter? It is? Oh, well he’s the perfect person to make moral judgements. At least those hippies were banging LEGAL girls. Lets see…goes for young girls, likes to hunt, has a gun fetish…no self esteem issues there. No, he seems perfectly well adjusted for a 60 year old. Sheesh.

JP | 7/5/2007, 3:17 pm EST

The truth lies between the two point of views. Hippies didn’t change the world by getting stoned and preaching & practicing free love. Likewise, in the 60’s, there are people and activist groups that led to positive social changes like the civil rights movement.

I have to agree that Ted Nugent is not the best person to comment on the moral values of The Summer of Love.

Personally, I think the whole hippie revolution is completely overrated. Sure there was some great music that came out of it. It also inspired alot of horrible music as well. Whatever well-intentioned messages and movements that the hippies were involved in. They got obscured by the drugs that they were using. Eventually, they stopped doing any activism at all. They either starting shooting heroin and listening to folk rock or snorting cocaine and dancing to disco. Then the 80’s came around, all I have to say about that is, “Greed is good.”

Richard | 7/5/2007, 3:07 pm EST

This comment is directed to tiptopshape who refers to the veterns of WW2 as assholes, go f__k yourself. If it wasn’t for those who fought and died for your sorry ass you wouldn’t be able to sit around in your mom’s basement and bitch about some right wing nut who everyonce in a while has a good point just the wrong message.

Bosco | 7/5/2007, 2:29 pm EST

Ya gotta luv Ted Nugent!

Brien Comerford | 7/5/2007, 1:52 pm EST

I do agree with Ted about abortion. I am no saint but I am against abortion, the death penalty, slaughterhouses, hunting, trapping, fishing and all forms of animal abuse. Alcohol and pot in moderation are okay.

Brien Comerford | 7/5/2007, 1:51 pm EST

I see the fanatics from Nugents Message Board have have nested here. Talk about scary, just go over to that site and read the posts. Sure there are a handful of level headed people but by far they are just Nugent ass kissers with the IQ’s of a doorknob. Especially the ones that run it. If you are a member of the KKK, I’m sure they would welcome you with open arms. Go read about how they wanna to nuke every country around. What a bunch of nutcases.

Brien Comerford | 7/5/2007, 1:46 pm EST

Ted Nugent is an intelligent sociopath. He claims to revere God but he maims, injures and kills God’s animal kingdom with the utmost irreverence. Ted glorifies guns, violence and the massacre of innocent animals. I wish Ted would join the troops and hunt the human terrorists.

nonpareil | 7/5/2007, 11:49 am EST

To answer the question “who is Ted Nugent” - he was once famous for eating meat. After one of his “meat orgies” of the 70s, Ted contracted “juvenilosis” in which the mind becomes trapped in an adolescent state and can only see in black and white.

Jon | 7/5/2007, 10:51 am EST

Nugent is no one to talk regarding “moral” issues. Is his promiscuity indicative of anything other than “free love”?His many “conquests” potentially exposed him to God knows how many STDs,making him a poster child for sexual irresponsability (one also wonders how many possible abortions).
It also might be noted that this coward got a draft deferment during Vietnam. Although I realize that many hippies were and are hyppocritical douches, for the most part they seemed to have real moral objections to the war. What was Ted’s weak ass excuse?

huh? | 7/5/2007, 10:42 am EST

Jangly Man | 7/5/2007, 10:25 am EST

Who is Ted Nugent? And what are hippies?

edwardp@ejvictor.com | 7/5/2007, 10:12 am EST

Ted fails to mention that WASP males failed to lead in the proper assimilation of the “new female”into an all male dominated society, after the results of the sexual revolution during this same era. They have not had the necessary guidance in handling their newfound freedoms and as a result, they merely started “acting like boys”so we see a tremendous increase in female related traffic deaths, schoolyard violence, all types of crime, and prisons and jails filling up with women.Society has failed them in their quest to be “equal”with men.

Noam Sane | 7/5/2007, 10:04 am EST

Professor Ted should provide some empirical evidence for his claims.

He won’t, because he’s talking out his ass.

Divorce rates in the red-state “heartland” are much higher than in the coastal hippie enclaves of the US. You could look it up.

If Ted’s such a badass, why isn’t he in Iraq?

jungleland | 7/5/2007, 9:51 am EST

I saw Ted a few years ago and his musical style is stuck in 1977 and his politics are kinda simplistic, his take on lazyness, drugs, Government reliance are dead on (and they all feed off each other).

I’m not ready to eat bear jerky, but I respect the Nugent life style.

tiptopshape | 7/5/2007, 9:22 am EST

SCREW Ted Nugent, and all of the naysayers. EAT ME! All of this “Greatest Generation” Shit is too much. Those assholes who went and saved the world from the nazis, came back to this country and exploited the ever-lovin’ shit outta it, and gave us TELEVISION as a reward. As for Ted Nugent, he’s always been full of shit, so why should anyone be surprised by him now?

zentropa | 7/5/2007, 8:48 am EST

TRAGEDY?

JB | 7/5/2007, 8:47 am EST

It’s ironic that most of the articles dealing with ‘what’s wrong with the world’ that I read these days often try to blame a single group. Regardless of the name given to each group, it usually comes down to blaming the left or the right. I wish people could acknowledge the fact that both the left and the right have contributed to the direction of the world—both good and bad—and that there are many complex factors that have brought the world to its current place in history. It’s not all black and white, nor just good vs. evil. Life is a little more complex than ‘the hippies wrecked the world.’

zentropa | 7/5/2007, 8:44 am EST

At least Ted is smart enough to arm himself.Things gettin shaky fellow Americans.Start PACKIN before these Liberals shit on the Constitution.I was 14 in 67.Hippies -Trust me-Not much there.USA?–Trust me-Its been one long downhill trip.A hippie would of used the word BUMMER.I use the word TRADEGY.

Ted is wrong! I wasn’t dirty or stinky when I arrived in San Francisco. That wasn’t until at some point during the Monterey Pop Festival.

Cheesecrop | 7/5/2007, 5:59 am EST

Reading the post closely you can see Nugent is right about most of this stuff. I’ve never been a major fan of Nugent, and I don’t like to hang around with the kind of folks Nugent seems to embody, but He is right on this stuff. The fact that he himself turned from “Hip” as in Hippie to “Hyp” as in Hypocrite is really nothing special, since at least 3/4 of all the boomers did the same thing themselves. Nothing Special here, either for Nuge or the Hyppies.

St Augustine Bob | 7/5/2007, 2:42 am EST

I grew up in a small western town
and identify with small town values
I was, I guess , a hippie when I graduated in 1070, though short hair was required and I didn’t do
any protesting or dirty living, I
did identify with much of the ideas
about freedom from government, from
certain uneeded repressions, and a
rejection of materialism in our
culture. Ted Nugent is ok, he just
makes the mistake a lot on the right or left make, which is making bold blanket statements to
cover a complex issue or subject.
It’s sad so many did lose their way
on drugs and greed and extremism and forget to champion the positive parts of all human expression

telf | 7/5/2007, 2:05 am EST

who the hell is Ted Nugent??!!!!

hahaha i like the dumb hippy comments

PeteHagen | 7/4/2007, 11:37 pm EST

It only strikes a chord and pisses people off if they think Nuge is right. Even if I don’t always agree with him, I always love to hear what he has to say. His new album also has the best title of the Year with “Love Grenade”!!!
fuckin Nuge…

Scott | 7/4/2007, 11:28 pm EST

Wow. So he’s still alive.

popcultureidiot.blogspot.com | 7/4/2007, 7:45 pm EST

Bear in mind that Nugent was a rock artist during the ’60s and certainly during the Summer of Love. The people he is marginalizing are the majority of the people who bought his albums. Who else bought them? Henry Kissinger?

I hate revisionist, boilerplate arguments like this.

Dr. Benway | 7/4/2007, 6:52 pm EST

59 years clean and sober? Ted must not have been inhaling when i knew him back in the day; which makes him a poser ,because he sure was acting the part in Detroit during the late 60’s

Nugent is the greatest!

PS - I am retarded.

Julian Jerman | 7/4/2007, 5:19 pm EST

Hi Ted,
I agree with you: it has been just a social phenomenon!

but there is a particular very important that you have forgotten!

Musically there is no comparison between Jim Morrison and the rest of the noisy fray of the Los Angeles-San Francisco Rock scene.

Infact Jim Morrison ( even if improperly defined as musician ) and few others like Roger Hodgson, Roger Waters, Paul McCartney and Jorma Kaukonen have created really MUSIC or better ART ( melodies of rare intensity, creativity and rich of pathos ).

I have no hesitation to tell you that I do not perceive any emotion when I listen to Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Yardbirds or Byrds.

astarte | 7/4/2007, 4:20 pm EST

Ted’s so wrong. The 60s and 70s were about people and values. It was anti-war, peace, loving each other. Ted DID miss the 60s. His head missed the 60s.
We all know where his head is.

Jerry Falwell | 7/4/2007, 3:31 pm EST

Just look at the guy. He’s wearing army fatigues. Ted’s the type of guy who leaves his front door wide open and sits waiting in the shadows with his rifle cocked and ready for someone to walk in so he can blow them away.

Scary…Timothy McVeigh style, you know.

miccc | 7/4/2007, 3:03 pm EST

If you take a close look at the four points Ted makes at the top of this article, and are ruthlessly honest with yourself, you’re forced to admit that for the most part, he is correct.

Petty Fan | 7/4/2007, 1:14 pm EST

Ted Nugent? Reality TV anyone? The Surreal Life awaits…..

cota | 7/4/2007, 1:05 pm EST

“Cat scratch fever, gotta scratch that beaver”, uh yeah Ted,,a real “values” kinda guy you are. Then there is “Wang Dang Sweet Poon-tang”, again, some real class here, folks. Let’s not forget “stakes are high, and so am I, it’s in the air to-ni-yi-ight”. With lyrics like these, Ted claims moral high-ground?? Give me a break, what an ass hole.

Sometime ’round 1979, Ted was here in Seattle. He said in front of a packed theater full of underage kids, “I’m sooo glad to be back here tonight so I can eat all that sweet Seattle pussy!!’ (or something like that). And “hippies” are to blame for the countries woes??? Puh-leeze!!

This KKK wannabe should go watch “the Deliverance” with his hunting buddies and shut the hell up!!

You know, there may be hope for America.

This week, Ted Nugent was published in the Wall Street Journal, a prestigious newspaper for grown ups. Then he gets ripped on by adolescent writers & readers of Rolling Stone.

Nugent is right. Wake up America.

Happy Independence Day.

Beelay | 7/4/2007, 11:43 am EST

Boy, there are some angry right-wingers on here.

Why are you so angry, righties??

I mean, if you’re all that agitated and upset by a movement that happened 40 years ago, you probably need some therapy.

I know what you could do, righties. You could enlist to go over to Iraq so you can kill some brown-skinned people. I know you guys love to do that. Righties love to shoot guns, kill people, and read the Bible.

Max Buzz | 7/4/2007, 11:23 am EST

Like a lazy redneck hunter, Ted shoots the easiest targets he can find.

mike53 | 7/4/2007, 11:11 am EST

Happy Independence Day.

Happy Birthday America.

Thank a soldier today.

cota | 7/4/2007, 10:54 am EST

Does anyone really care about this washed up douche bag??? Typical (faux) conservative bullshit. The Rush Limbaugh of crappy 70’s rock and roll. Does anyone remember “Wango Tango”??? Puh-leeeze!!!

Mike | 7/4/2007, 10:50 am EST

The hippies were losers with a capitol L. I was only in Elementary School but I still remember them standing outside stores stoned and begging. And God help the pour soul that was unfortunate enough to be down wind of them. Their main source of soap and water was our local Texaco bathroom, which also functioned as their laundry. Thats your legacy hippies, losers with a distinctive stench, no job, no gas for your V-dub vans, no food, no clothes, no address.

Mark | 7/4/2007, 10:17 am EST

Turn on, tune in and drop out…yeah, that’s the ticket.

Nugent’s points are spot on: drugs lead to death. Who would possibly celebrate this?

Joe | 7/4/2007, 10:16 am EST

RE: “In Sing”’s comments…

I don’t think Sweaty Teddy makes great points as much as he makes a great noise. Much like Ann Coulter, people like to watch the meltdown happen when he hits the air or goes to print. Radio producers and newspaper editors realize this and that’s why he gets the press.

I’m not sure most Americans would consider Ol’ Ted a great social philosopher or anything.

If Ted’s a great thinker, that would make people like Britney Spears, Sheryl Crow and Jay-Z our nation’s political barometer. Scary, no?

jay | 7/4/2007, 9:48 am EST

i couldnt agree with ted more.. baby boomers were a failed generation

Nugent is great and makes great points. If he is so irrelavent why is he published in the Wall Street Journal, a guest on the Dennis Miller radio show and his writing and views sited on many national talk shows. For a guy who is out of touch he sure gets a lot of press. A lot more than you stinking hippies posting on this site,

ali | 7/4/2007, 5:50 am EST

poor ted. he missed the whole point of ‘67. and he’s missing it’s afterlife. whether he believes it or not, the changes of that summer affected him AND his career in ways it wouldn’t have otherwised happened without it.

Steven | 7/4/2007, 4:27 am EST

This guy was a sex addict who lost all his money because he bought too many guitars.

Honestly, I’d rather be a stinky hippie than a complete retard like this jackass.

Blame hippies for higher divorce rates, but blame Uncle Ted for pedophilia.

Lucifer Sam | 7/4/2007, 1:22 am EST

Nugent played guitar on “Journey to the Center of Your Mind”, with drug paraphernalia all over the back cover of that album. Um, if he were a true republican he would fight on the libertarian side of not letting big government tell us what to do with our bodies. But instead, he is sober and doesn’t sound as good as he did in his “Stranglehold” days. His 6000th concert was played to empty seats at some lame dinner theater cause no one cares anymore.

Pat Kittle | 7/4/2007, 1:20 am EST

I blame Ronald Reagan for disco.

Erick Blair | 7/4/2007, 12:09 am EST

If it’s true Ted has been clean and sober for 59 years then the rest of these posters can go to h***. That is the real party and a rare thing at that.

Woody Engle | 7/3/2007, 11:54 pm EST

Ted Nugent is being attacked for speaking the truth. I respect his convictions and life style. Not many people live they life they talk about. God Bless Ted Nugent and God Bless America.

Brett | 7/3/2007, 11:43 pm EST

OK, so Ted’s a “hypocrite”, OK.

I’m not: I never did drugs. I married my only wife (of 17 years) as a virgin.

So, when I say I agree with Ted, I bet 95% of you will still dismiss me for whatever excuse.

The bottom line is YOU can’t live with your own guilt. YOU can’t live with moral standards (except for false “tolerance”), so you resent ANYONE who DOES stand for anything bigger than themselves. YOU resent Ted (and you WILL resent ME) because we stand for something. Not only do you not stand for anything, you can’t handle anyone who does.

C’mon, call me a _____; ‘ya you know want to.

Jeff Christensen | 7/3/2007, 11:09 pm EST

All capable of looking at what Nugent said objectively will see that guitarboy is absolutely correct. Those who want to protect the idiocy of the hippie movement will attack the Truth Messenger yet offer no intelligent point counter point.

Thanks Ted!

Gibson Player | 7/3/2007, 11:04 pm EST

Someone tell me why this guy is still relevant? His followers don’t even understand that his mouth hurts their guns and hunting causes as much or more than he helps. This media whore is nothing more than than an egomaniac. He is jealous or any entertainer that is more famous than him. He has this delusion that he is black and has soul. Here’s a hint for you Ted, you’re whiter than white bread and twice as bland.

WakeUpWorld | 7/3/2007, 11:03 pm EST

Hippies are responsible for EVERYTHING wrong with America today. Take a fuckin bath, and get a job!!!

Steve N | 7/3/2007, 10:38 pm EST

Ted Nugent is an idiot. The guy should stick to hunting and guns and stop his senseless social commentary. The man is a hypocrite and should be labeled a sex offender. How do you feel about adultery Ted? How many underaged girls have you molested? Bet you can’t handle that logic can you? Let’s not forget your admiration for the dope addict Rush Limbaugh. I guess that’s different as far as you’re concerned because he’s your guy.

KLH | 7/3/2007, 10:31 pm EST

Hey Ted, how did that enlistment in the Vietnam war pan out anyway?

Brad Vidmar | 7/3/2007, 10:17 pm EST

And now that I think about it, Ted Nugent is a sex-predator. Watch his VH1 “Behind The Music”. He had actually acquired legal guardianship rights for that Asian girl that he was with all those years(I don’t believe they got married). He started banging her when she was only 16 or 17. Fuckin Woody Allen over here. I’m not sure if that, technically, makes him a molester, but he adopts naive, high-school girls so He can fuck in his Tarzan outfit and but I guess it must have been all that grass the hippies were burning. Somehow it crawled in his lungs and He saw Satan…

Rightwingmom | 7/3/2007, 10:15 pm EST

Love it! Ted speaks the truth. If more kids would just listen they would be better off. He lived through one of the most outrageous times in our history and is living proof that you can succeed in music without drugs and alcohol. He is still going strong and selling out shows all over this great land.
Keep it up Ted!

Shaddup | 7/3/2007, 9:57 pm EST

Hippies are responsible for his cat scratch fever? i thought it was oversexing underaged girls…

The Nuge | 7/3/2007, 9:56 pm EST

I love Ted Nugent.

He is the greatest musician ever!

George W. Bush rules!

Cheney is my man!

Ann Coulter speaks the truth!

PS - I am retarded.

Brad Vidmar | 7/3/2007, 9:06 pm EST

Oh what-the-fuck-ever! “Irresponsible lifestyle of random sex”? This from the same guy that proclaimed on VH1’s “Behind The Music” that his only vice back in the day was women? I wonder how many groupies he knocked up ended up having abortions? You know what kills me the most out of all of this? The fact that I actually like Ted’s music. I think the guys jams, but he’s nowhere close to touching Jimi or the Beatles. And about the drugs, you see articles on classic Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd albums at least 3-4 times a year. People remember the first time they heard “Riders on the Storm”. Do you remember were you were the first time you heard “Wang Dang Sweet Poontang”? People are actually celebrating the 40 year anniversary of Sgt.Pepper this year. I doubt they’ll be doing the same for Damn Yankees’ debut LP. The right people on the right drugs rock! Plus, News Flash Ted: It’s not 2004 anymore! No one is buying your Neo-Con-bullshit-morality guilt trip and It’s not going to buy you any votes. Tell all those thristy-starving-sunburnt people that got stranded on their rooftops after Hurricane Katrina that small government is the way to go.

Lew Kyes | 7/3/2007, 8:34 pm EST

Jimi did drugs and Jimi is dead. Ted went hunting and Ted is still Ted!

Nugent rules!!!!! He’s my bloodbrother and one of the best damn musicians ever.

No SHIT .... | 7/3/2007, 8:29 pm EST

Ted may not be fillin halls but to
see him fill the DTE in DETROIT is
still a Memorable Musicial Moment
Ted is Ted …

“If you playing a field …
they “will come” !!!

Keep Rockin Ted

John Adams | 7/3/2007, 6:50 pm EST

Nice attitude, RS. Is your problem with libertarian capitalism the fact that it’s sustainable, while liberal selfishness is not? Why trash an imperfect man with values unlike your own? What ever happened to “open mindedness” you shallow hippie wastes of oxygen?

Steph | 7/3/2007, 5:56 pm EST

Kinda hard to bitch about what he said when the link provided doesn’t even lead to the full article. How convenient, RS.

Johnny Kickass | 7/3/2007, 5:51 pm EST

If you just replaced the word ‘hippie’ with ‘baby boomer’, he’d be dead right.

Brian | 7/3/2007, 5:10 pm EST

If most of you only read what he said, you might find yourself agreeing. Think about it. The same hippies and lovers of everything back then are now the same people that help to destroy the environment. And think about just when America began its decline. Just when they started taking over politics. Ted has it mostly right.

Fred Bear | 7/3/2007, 4:45 pm EST

Gee, what’s worse a filthy hippie or a has-been, washed-up, lying hypocrite? Mr. Nugent is in no position to preach personal integrity to anyone. Anyone around Detroit in the 60’s and 70’s has probably seen “Mr. Clean” in a less than sober condition and his bottom dwelling sexual escapades are hardly the stuff of high moral standards.

This pompous ass-bag should just shut his yap and finish out the summer playing to half-empty sheds with his tired, budget-rate rock show. Come on Unca’ Ted, there’s a whole nation of mullet-headed mouth breathers just waitin’ to hear you cackle your way through Cat Scratch Fever.

Again.

Virtual Scott | 7/3/2007, 4:38 pm EST

“The Truth” - what is it? Ted’s truth is Ted’s and Ted’s only. The guy has shown himself to be a close-minded bigot time and time again. While I have no problem with his pro-American and pro-Gun stance, singling yourself out as the prototype for the american ideal while speaking in prejudicial tongues isn’t exactly something I’d aspire to. I do commend him on his “drug-free” existence, though why should Ted’s lifestyle be the de facto standard for anyone else?

Monique The Freak | 7/3/2007, 4:30 pm EST

So drugs resulted in “soulless” music but he wonders what peaks Hendrix and Morrison could have reached had they stayed alive? Which is it Ted? Drugs helped their creativity, and you haven’t done anything since Stranglehold (which sounds awesome when you’re tripping). Isn’t there a statute of limitations on how long someone can remain in the public eye without actually being relevant?

Herb | 7/3/2007, 4:27 pm EST

He has to say stuff like this to get himself in the spotlight. His music isn’t going to do it.

matt | 7/3/2007, 4:26 pm EST

Ted is dead wrong on his assessment that hippies are to blame for divorce, crime, and abortion. Such simplistic statements are irritating. The 60s was a time of unrest and social change. Simply labeling hippies as “worthless” is wrong.

However, I do understand his critique on drugs. The lives of Hendrix and the like were tragically taken too soon.

Erik | 7/3/2007, 4:23 pm EST

All this from a draft-dodging, adulterous ignoramus, whose music is as forgettable as can be. I despise hippies as well, but the “truth” is that just as many right wingers are responsible for the stuff he’s talking about. This is why American politics are a joke.

Bob | 7/3/2007, 4:22 pm EST

well…I guess ted kinda nailed it..but when he writes a song even close to anything that Jimi, Janis, or Jimi wrote, someone let me know…

abandonedstation | 7/3/2007, 4:21 pm EST

Ted Nugent is like Ann Coulter, but with a vagina.

If you read most histories of San Francisco in the sixties, most locals agree that by 1967 the movement became commercialized and it was mainly an influx of hippie tourists from across the nation that made the counterculture look like a bunch of lazy, hairy potheads. By ‘67, Kesey was headed north, and anyone with any socio-political aspirations had split.

Unless the Fillmore had a good show on that night. Then everyone would filter back into the city…

Derek | 7/3/2007, 4:20 pm EST

Ted is just jealous of the success of those who were able to use drugs as tools to enhance their connection with and understanding of people and all life on our planet. Sure some overdid it, but many fared far better than Ted did. Look at the success of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

Cartman | 7/3/2007, 4:17 pm EST

Dirty hippies piss me off.

Jen | 7/3/2007, 4:15 pm EST

People hate Ted because he speaks the truth. The truth hurts. The truth is scary. Filthy hippies scare the hell out of me.

Jeff | 7/3/2007, 3:54 pm EST

…but what does Ted have to say about his cheating on his wife with a 17 year old back in 1995?

EH?

…EH??

Righteous Johnson | 7/3/2007, 3:39 pm EST

God Bless Ted Nugent. This magazine needs an enema!

Heywood | 7/3/2007, 3:33 pm EST

What is it that Ted has actually done? His productivity is playing music? Isn’t his total output basically hippyesque?

R. L. American | 7/3/2007, 3:32 pm EST

I agree, Teddy! That big ol’ hippy Rush Limbaugh has done three of those four things all by himself.

DC (Austin) | 7/3/2007, 3:29 pm EST

I don’t agree with the Nuge, but what did the Summer of Love create besides music? A generation of people who are now royally fucking all the other generations?

Steve | 7/3/2007, 3:28 pm EST

A few valid points? What are they? He makes blanket indicments, and offers nothing at all to back them up. Nugent is clearly an idiot…the Ann Coulter of the bow and arrow set. If Ted choked to death on his own vomit, he would be forgotten in about 10 days. And good riddance.

Unlucky | 7/3/2007, 3:26 pm EST

Ted needs to go eat a bowl of shut the #@!* up. Divorce? Guess who has the highest divorce rate in this country? That’s right, Republicans. If people like Ken Lay who WEREN’T hippies and who razed people’s livelihood and retirement funds and people like Neil Bush who screwed this country over for decades with the S&L scandal represent decent citizenry, then count me proud to be a hippie. Right wing conversatives have screwed more decent hard working people out of money and jobs in this country than the hippie movement smoked drugs. Look no further than the commuting of Libby’s sentence as evidence. Republicans are hypocrites and they all need to jump off a cliff.

john | 7/3/2007, 3:23 pm EST

Ted has a few valid points….

What's the Wha? | 7/3/2007, 3:20 pm EST

Goff…methinks you’re partially correct but, unfortunately, most of the activist movement seems to have been directly tied to the ‘hippies’…those ‘lazy rich kids’ were both things at once (which is why it turned out pretty bad).

In fact, the reaction of the hippie movement, both politically and socially, is typically attributed to the unmatched economic growth experienced by the white middle class post-WW II.

For the ties between the two…see ‘Berkley in the 60s’, ‘The Weather Underground’ or read ‘Please Kill Me’. In all instances and for better or worse, the two movements were directly tied…

Dutch | 7/3/2007, 3:20 pm EST

Good for Ted. The Summer Of Love was a forty year Holocaust. Fuck the Hippies.

Ryan | 7/3/2007, 3:18 pm EST

And how relevant is he now, whereas we still about Janis, Hendrix, etc.? And if he fell off a cliff tomorrow no one would notice.

theswampcandles | 7/3/2007, 3:15 pm EST

The real shame of it is that Ted hasn’t made a good record since 1978 and this is the only way he ever gets any attention.

Where does he get off... | 7/3/2007, 3:15 pm EST

saying “irresponsible lifestyle of random sex”? Doesn’t he brag even up to this day about how many women he has screwed?

Goff | 7/3/2007, 3:14 pm EST

Amidst all the nostalgia, the distinction has been lost between the activist movement of the 60’s and the hippies. In the 60’s there was real potential for great political change, largely spurred by a new generation of activists and radicals. Unfortunately, the hippies (doped up, useless, lazy rich kids) ruined it all by indulging in an orgy of drugs, thus undermining the efforts of the young people who strove to make concrete measures for improving society. The hippie creed was inaction in hope that their collective “love” would sort out the world’s problems. That is why everyone hates the hippies today, and while I disagree with Nugent’s politics, he does raise some good points.

Bob Saget's Revenge | 7/3/2007, 3:13 pm EST

Don’t argue with the Nuge.

Politically, I think he is a morn, but the guy is interesting as all heck.

I would like to see him beat up James Blunt, Ryan Adams, and possibly Justin Timberlake.

I've said it all along | 7/3/2007, 3:11 pm EST

and Eric Cartman is right! Hippies f#cking suck!

david | 7/3/2007, 3:11 pm EST

clinton?hippie? if he started drugs getting used again, that would explain what your saying, but still…

Steve | 7/3/2007, 3:08 pm EST

Goes to show what happens when cousins screw……

TankCat | 7/3/2007, 3:04 pm EST

We elected a hippie President in 1992 and look what happened - sex scandals, lawsuits and all kinds of other disgraces to the office. Bill Clinton was indeed the President of the baby boomer generation.

TEABAG | 7/3/2007, 3:01 pm EST

Ted is f*cking crazy

geoff | 7/3/2007, 2:59 pm EST

man i love uncle ted

What's the Wha? | 7/3/2007, 2:56 pm EST

The real bummer about the ’summer of love’ is that it spawned the reactionary right-wing movement of tyranny that we’re suffering under today…Bush, Cheney, Rumsefeld, Reagan…all were inspired by the repulsion they felt for hippies to take over and ruin the fun for everybody.

RS may celibrate their past indiscretions all they way but, fact is, the hippies couldn’t stop Vietnam, they can’t stop Iraq and–in the interim–we’ve lost most of the New Deal, have to defend evolution in public debate, and argue as to why one shouldn’t shoot an immigrant on sight.

Way to go, hippies! Maybe it would’ve been better if more peopel had taken than tainted brown acid…

Whether you like it or not . . | 7/3/2007, 2:55 pm EST

He has a point.

Whether you like it or not . . | 7/3/2007, 2:55 pm EST

matt | 7/3/2007, 2:51 pm EST

I thought the Nug was all about free love, that was the only thing he indulged in when I saw his behind the music.

Stuporfly | 7/3/2007, 2:48 pm EST

Rising rates of divorce? Didn’t Nuge fuck everything under the sun during his pre-psychotic salad days? Everyone’s got vices, Ted. Replacing Courvoisier with cow’s blood doesn’t mean you’ve got your shit together.

What a douche the Motor City Madman turned out to be.

sy | 7/3/2007, 2:47 pm EST

On Ted Nugent “I often wonder what musical peaks he could have climbed if not for him sucking so much. Unfortunately being sober has lead to such crimes against humanity as Spirit of the Wild, and Surviving Nugent.” One such rock fan went on to say that Great White Buffalo was the worst rock song in the history of the genre.

Venezuelan Born | 7/3/2007, 2:46 pm EST

When comparing the “Greatest Generation” (the one that freed Europe from Nazi Germany) to their offspring — the Summer of Love generation — one is struct by how utterly worthless the hippie generation was and is.

Chris | 7/3/2007, 2:45 pm EST

Nugent has only himself to blame for his past divorce; letting out stinky farts from all the wild animals he eats must make him unbearable to live with, amo
